as I stated in my posts above, I never supported the invasion for the reasons given by the Bush Admin. However, I did support it for the quiet reasons that were never mentioned. Such as the long term plan for peace in the middle east. With Saddam gone, now there is a chance to stablize the region.
In all honesty, I did not support the invasion of Iraq for the reasons of WMD because I felt and still do that it was simply an excuse to further an agenda. However, I did give my support for the long term effects which are now starting to show. Take for example the Iranian students protesting for Democracy, Syria expelling Iraqi members of government, Palestinans and Israelis at the peace table...ect..
This would not be happening if the worlds strongest military was not in their back yard.
Nevermind, I think I must have been running a little slow on figuring out where you were coming from on that comment. I didn't realize that you were referring to the converation that I was having with Quix. My apologies.
Ok gotcha, but Im not sure that I follow the reasons that led you to point this out?
Anyway, the "traditional culture" for revenge you speak of is actually something form ancient Chinese culture and not something that is practiced today. Unless of cours you are a member of the Triad family.
You're certainly right about the security cameras in China, They are everywhere. The last time I went to the forbidden city I pointed several of them out to a few of my friends that I was visiting in Beijing. They didn't even know that they were cameras, they just thought they were some kind of light.
"How do you translate Nacht und Neber into Mandarin?"
You will first have to translate that into English for me. I dont speak any German. :)
I agree with your thoughts. However, I also found your following statement to be ironic:
"you only "own" property if you have the means of defending it "
The same could be said here in the United States. Though we work our entire lives to purchase a home and property to put it on, it doesn't really belong to us. Try not paying your taxes and see what happens!
If you want to discuss something and then quote me, please do not do so out of context. Im not trying to debate your comparrison of China to Canada because I have never really given any thought to such a topic. However, what I stated as being argueable is as I pointed out the first time.
"That is very easily argueable. Simply because China is not a totaltarian state and while they have very little protection for human rights, that is on the slow rise along with the standard of living"
Well, the emphasis on sons is not as existant as it used to be. That exists mostly only in the deep areas of the countryside. However, there is already a serious surplus of men versus women due to such a long practice of aborting female babies in favor of males.
Now they are not even allowed to have tests done to expose the sex of the unborn, it is illegal.
"China is less Socialistic and more capitalistic than Canada. China's main problem is it is still a totalitarian state with no rights for individuals."
That is very easily argueable. Simply because China is not a totaltarian state and while they have very little protection for human rights, that is on the slow rise along with the standard of living. (noooo, im not defending the CCP, just pointing out some small facts)
