(NaturalNews) Of all the sneaky tactics practiced in Washington D.C., this recent action by Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) is one of the most insidious: While no one was looking, he injected amendment language into the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 4173) that would expand the powers of the FTC (not the FDA, but the FTC) to terrorize nutritional supplement companies by greatly expanding the power of the FTC to make its own laws that target dietary supplement companies. This is a little-known secret about the FTC and the nutritional supplements business: The FTC routinely targets...

WASHINGTON -- A group of Republican senators is questioning high salaries and expensive travel bills for executives at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, raising issues that could jeopardize millions in federal funding for the national charity. The four senators said they were concerned that the chief executive of a charity that has been closing local clubs for lack of funding was compensated nearly $1 million in 2008. They also questioned why in the same year officials spent $4.3 million on travel, $1.6 million on conferences, conventions and meetings, and $544,000 in lobbying fees. More at source

Russia and the United States have tentatively agreed to a weapons inspection program that would allow Russians to visit nuclear sites in America to count missiles and warheads. The plan, which Fox News has learned was agreed to in principle during negotiations, would constitute the most intrusive weapons inspection program the U.S. has ever accepted. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who met with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, said publicly Tuesday that the two nations have made "considerable" progress toward reaching agreement on a new strategic arms treaty. The 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires in December and negotiators...

Oregon Republicans offer no-new-tax budget by Harry Esteve, The Oregonian Tuesday May 12, 2009, 1:43 PM SALEM -- Oregon could pay for a full school year and protect its most vulnerable citizens without raising taxes, according to an alternative budget proposal released Tuesday by Republican legislative leaders. Their two-year spending plan, outlined in the broadest terms at a news conference, effectively gives most state agencies the same amount of money they got over the past two years and maintains a surplus to cover emergencies. "A rush to new taxes, quite frankly, is unnecessary," said Sen. Frank Morse, one of the...

He used to be a gang member, until he became a gang breaker. Wayne Perryman today plays many roles, but probably the most ironic was the one he played at the Lincoln Day Dinner, in Salem, Oregon on February 12, 2009: Lecturer and chastiser of the Republican Party. As he explains it, he used to be a Democrat. Why? Because, the “Democrats did the most for Black people,” or so he thought. But, as an Administrator with his local Baptist Church in heavy contact with young people and preaching the Lord’s laws, they started asking, “but why are you a...

They're both selling their wares (or repaying their debts) for political reasons. The "Stimulus" is mostly nothing more than a payback for Obama's supporters. Example: $50 million for grants through the National Endowment for the Arts. We're in a bad recession, maybe worse, and they have THIS in a STIMULUS package....among other things? Call your Senators and Reps.....esp. Republican's and tell them they better NOT vote for the Stimulus.

Where the $825 billion will -- and won't -- show up in your life. With our first glimpse into how the government wants to use $825 billion to juice the economy, it's clear that some of the money will quickly and directly affect most Americans lives, while other spending is intended to produce either longer-term, less tangible benefits or is targeted at narrow segments of the population -- like the unemployed. Although the sum is huge, the money isn't intended to turn the economy around, but to keep it from falling even further into decay.

Summary Singapore’s Central Provident Fund is based on individual savings and building assets, unlike the American Social Security system. Singapore’s national philosophy, “nothing should be free,” has encouraged free-market strategies and individual responsibility, a good model for American social policy. Commentary In the U.S., government-run entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare and Unemployment Insurance are staggering under an ever-increasing price tag, while a parallel and struggling asset-building movement carefully tiptoes around the wide spread of government welfare programs, all the while repeating that asset-building for low-income Americans is only supplementary. Like the U.S., Singapore also has a compulsory social welfare...
