Reread your post... THe hardware was not broken by windows 7, the guy doesn’t like it. And really, I was just posting some information that I know to be correct. You come across like a jerk with your post.

MS actually came down on Fry’s a couple of years ago for this. I believe the minimum hardware that you have to purchase to count as a “rebuilt” machine is either a hard drive or memory.

There is actually a cheaper license available for people that repurpose. I’m really not trying to be a smart ass, I have just spent a good deal of time understanding MS licensing. I am not an expert, but I do know the rules for OEM.

Just for the record. The copy of XP OEM that you bought is still illegal. The only legal use of an OEM license is that it must come from the Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM). If you bought a Dell computer with Windows 7 on it, you cannot legally buy an OEM copy of the license yourself and install it.

Zimmerman created a situation where he “had” to take the action he did. I am not a Santorum fan and this is just more of Santorum trying to buy some additional votes.

I own a support company and we provide all of our solutions from companies that are US based and staffed by US employees/citizens. It might cut into our margins a little but it is simply the right thing to do... We tell our clients that if they have a problem we can’t resolve remotely the same tech they start on the phone with will probably be the person that shows up at their door.

How can these companies stand behind their products and services if they don’t know the people that are responsible for delivering them??

Agreed. Obama has played golf just about every weekend sinc this thing started and even had a family vacation to Chicago. Rahm has had a trip to Israel for his sons Bar Mitvah. Can you imagine how much WE paid for his trip to Israel??

This is the second time that I have seen CNN Anchors asking some tough questions. The other being Wolf Blitzer’s interview with Philipe Calderon(Mexican Dude).

We’ll see how long it lasts but they are clearly being directed to ask some tougher questions. I think they are sensing the trainwreck headed our way and don’t want to lookk like they were asleep at the wheel. Better late than never if they persist.

I am going to Arizona this Fall with my family specifically to show support and spend money with their local businesses. Everytime I spend money I will let the business know that I am in their state and spending my there specifically becuase of SB 1070.

Full disclosure here... I bought 100 shares of apple stock just before the iPod came out. It was $17/share and it has split 3 times since then and is now around $200/share... Great company but they really could be better.

I think if Jobs came out and presented the Apple iCliff and told all the Mac-y’s to run off it they would... Because it had an apple logo on it and Steve Job’s said so... If Jobs had chosen a dark life path he could have been like Manson or Jim Jones...

I have worked with Dell, HP, IBM, etc... When you are providing support to people you are providing support. I get issues on Macs, PCs, etc...

The bigger problem is when the business community can buy a PC for $500 or a Mac for $1000, and both can deliver the same results why would you ever pay the additional cost just to buy a Mac?? Until Apple makes inroads with the business world, they aren’t going to get much more traction or market share than they have now.

That hasn’t been my experience. Apple support is a premium. If you pay the same premium you can get the same support for an HP or Dell. The Applecare Warranty for most Mac Laptops is about $300. For less than $300 I can add a complete care warranty to a Dell and get coverage for everything except theft for three years.

There is freedom to buy whatever hardware you want to run your OS for Windows and due to BS from Apple, you can only run the Mac OS on their hardware. You don’t think Microsoft could have the same degree of stability if they provided the OS AND Harddware?? Just think of how quickly they would be sued.

I update my OS with Windows on a regular basis and I haven’t gotten a blue screen in years... Yes, they happen but not like they used to.

Steve Jobs is one of the few CEO’s in this country that deserver the salary he makes. Apple is half the company without Jobs.

Agreed. I have clients with both Mac and PC and across the board the Mac people are the ones most in the dark about the origin of the technology they love so much. That is because Apple is such a phenominal marketing company... Why else would someone pay $1000 for a Mac laptop when they could buy the same functionality in a Dell or HP for $500.

Apple PAID for access to PARC? Not according to what i have read. The whole issue was that Xerox saw no value in the GUI interface and let it go... I don’t think anyone paid them for it.

And Apple has been ripping off everyone else for equally as long. Apple has got to be the greatest imitator of all time. I am not knocking them... It is what they all do.

Cases in point...
MP3 players have been around for a lot longer than Apple has been selling iPods. Apple repackaged (and did a great job of doing it) portable music players and buily a robust music distribution system as part of their offering but even that is a double edged sword.

I have been ablet to record TV shows on my computer for 12 years and for about 6 years been able to watch those recorded shows on my phone(Windows Mobile). Apple repackages this functionality and now you’d think Apple came up with the concept to begin with.

Apple is the best marketing company on the planet. They have a good product but I don’t think they are necessarily the great innovator that they present themselves to be.

And need I remind you that Apple and Microsoft saw the GUI interface about the same time at Xerox’s PARC research center.

I really am agnostic about OS’s. I use both Mac and PC and there are things I like and dislike about both but Microsoft is no more of an imitator than Apple although Apple may be a little better and certainly Apple is better at marketing.

I don’t miss an episode of Whale Wars. I ALWAYS cheer for the Japanese whalers. The end of last season saw the Steve Irwin ram one of the Japanese ships. The Sea Shepherds own video of the incident showed Paul Watson directing the SI into the Japanese ship. When they get that close, I believe the Japanese have every right to use whatever force is necessary to keep the SI away from them. If that means blowing a hole below the water line or whatever it takes so be it.

The Sea Shepherd Society is an organization that has taken the law into its own hands. They are vigilantes. What if someone did that on the streets of New York or L.A.?? They would not be held up as heros.
