Ask any Obama supporter these days how that hope and change thing is working out for them and 5 will get you ten you'll hear George Bush's name in the first thirty words of their response. It's not that unusual for an administration to blame its predecessors for its problems, especially early on, but the Obama people have taken the art to a new level. It's not hard to figure out why, look around you, open a window and you'll hear screaming in every direction. Who would want to take credit for the economy right now? Come to think of...

In the spirit of wikileaks, my big mouth has secured a secret memo of our own. The Office of The White House Press Secretary The Honorable Robert Gibbs Dear Fred, We here at the White House have had a long relationship with you people at MSNBC, whether it was during the campaign when your anchors breathlessly covered the President's speeches with their legs shaking, or more recently as you provided cover as we rammed through an unpopular healthcare bill and an equally unpopular and ineffective stimulus. Until very recently your network has stuck by us through thick and thin. It...

The house Democratic caucus just told the President to go (expletive deleted) himself, which is at least 10% more rude than calling him a liar. The revolution has begun and we here at Olbermann 2012 campaign headquarters couldn't be happier. Now, some of you have been skeptical about both our motives and our strategy with this draft Olbermann movement. I understand, let me try and take these on one by one. One of you asked; "If we do support Olbermann in the Democratic primaries, what happens if he actually beats Obama rather than weakening him? How do we know Olbermann...

There are few things more savage and bitter than a nomination fight for the Presidency. You have a dozen or so candidates, all of them seeing a future Presidential portrait in the mirror every morning, separated by the most slender of ideological threads, most of them knowing each other for years, contending for the highest office in the world. The first debates, which seem to happen before some of the voters have even been born, resemble the early rounds of American Idol only more harsh. "Governor Palin, many of your opponents here on stage say you're not informed enough to...

So I'm watching President Obama's press conference yesterday... okay I'm not REALLY watching it, I had the sound down at various points because, lets face it, we pretty much knew what he was going to say. Plus, there was laundry to do. No big deal, the cable networks put those captions on the screen which basically tell you what he says as he says it, its called a bug. He's talking about the Republicans taking hostages while the bug says something about Republicans taking hostages, right below his face. Of course for an instant I was a little confused and...

President Obama traveled to Afghanistan a couple of days ago but he did not meet Afghan President Karzai. Evidently there was a severe wind storm that didn't allow the President to fly by helicopter to meet with the leader of that country. There was a plan B, namely a video conference, but that wasn't done either. When asked by reporters why, a spokesperson from the White House mumbled something and then walked away. Evidently they did talk on the phone, local call, which saved the White House a bundle on toll charges. I know what you're thinking and I want...

What do Fidel Castro, Osama Bin Laden, and Julian Assange have in common? All three provide living proof the CIA doesn't know how to kill anyone any more. Julian Assange isn't laying off that whole Hillary Clinton must resign thing. It's truly a shame because Bill Clinton seems like his kind of guy. Imagine the fun they could have together if Julian would drop this nonsense and become a FOBH. For starters, I'm just positive Bill could clear up that whole "misunderstanding" between Julian and the Swedish government. With that ugliness behind Julian, he and his new buddy Bill could...

“Franklin now had Vergennes’s (the French foreign minister) blessing to negotiate directly and alone with England. Paradoxically, Vergennes had no qualms about letting Franklin do this because he full expected that the Americans would adhere to the instructions from Congress and consult with France every step of the way. He could assume, therefore, that France would hold some veto power over the outcome. He was not a little angry when, at the end, he found out that he had been deliberately and decisively outmaneuvered by Franklin, Jay, and Adams.” “The Long Fuse” by Don Cook, page 365. An example of...

For years I’ve been both been fascinated by and deplored conspiracy theories. They are, as they have always been, a substitute for actual serious thought. The notion that nothing can be explained because everything in the world is controlled by a bunch of robber barons locked in a smoke filled room somewhere has annoyed me ever since I first heard the name Jim Garrison. Conspiracy theories are a way of blaming people you don’t like for all the woes of the world and get this, you don’t need actual proof either. In fact the less proof the better, wouldn’t want...

I was looking at the history channel website when I found a speech delivered by Winston Churchill in 1934. It would be five years before Germany invaded Poland and yet he still saw the writing on the wall and it reminded me of our own times. Churchill was discussing how people in England felt, that the best way to avoid war was to dwell on its horrors and its cost. Meanwhile, in Germany, the glory of fighting and dying in battle was being actively promoted by the Nazi regime. Churchill joked that if the Germans invaded England perhaps they could...
