I believe Harvard has an agenda of their own. Makes me ashamed to even live in New England. If I recall, shortly after 911 there was a stink because Harvard University would not fly the American Flag. I am appalled that Mayor Minneno will allow use of the Boston Police Force to escort that scumbucket.....and KUDOS to Gov. Romney for his stance. Harvard, You ought to be ashamed. I , for one, will encourage my kids to go to Yale.

  • WHY CONGRESS NEEDS TO INTERVENE IN THE TERRI SCHINDLER SCHIAVO CASE

    Life4Terri
    Dear All,

PLEASE continue to do all you can to save the life of Terri Schindler Schiavo as well as the potential future lives of those in a similar family situation.

Please let Congress to be aware of the horror rulings of Judge George Greer and his blatant lack of disregard for EVIDENCE that shows MIchaels Schiavo is NOT and has never been a guardian for the interest of Terri Schindler Schiavo. There is SO much the public is not aware. I personally have gone through transcripts of every court document available and have outlined the horrible actions and the conflicts of his testimonies.

Please review the items below. PLEASE be sure that congress is aware that the reason this bill is so important is so that other family's will not have to endure wrong death sentences for innocent sick and/or disabled patients who did not have their wishes in writing and whose lives are in the hands of less than desirable spouses or guardians. PLEASE. Please review the history and snippets taken from court statments of Michael Schiavo's lies. Judge Greer is aware of EVERY ONE of these actions and has chosen to ignore them:

A "Loving Spouse" to his disabled wife?

Does a loving spouse melt his wifes wedding rings , only a couple of months after her hospitalization, to make jewelry for himself? Michael did.

Does a loving spouse euthanize his wifes perfectly healthy cats because his new girlfriend has a dog? Michael did.

Does a loving spouse have mattress aerobics at the same time he professes to do whatever he can to find treatment for his wife in the very early days of her collapse? Michael did.

Does a loving spouse hold their wife hostage from her parents and family because he has a slip of papers called "marriage license"? Michael does.

Does a loving spouse get approval from the courts to use nearly half of his wifes trust fund CARE money to help pay for HIS right-to-die attorney while NOT allowing his wife to have council of her own? Michael did. (while he used his portions of awardship towards a beautiful home that he titled in his fiance's name...for "safe measures")

Does a loving spouse name his fiance in his own mothers obituary column and leave out his wifes? Michael did.

    MICHAELS MOTIVES and WHY

Further, the argument is that Congress has stepped into the family matters scene. Those same people against it march for citizens and their Constitutional Rights, which is wonderful, however....what about the constitutional rights of the victim, Terri Schiavo? Throw that out the window because the courts have made grave errors and the judge is clearly showing bias? How can anyone sing the praises of the courts when Judge Greer himself has excused Michael Schiavo from the law by allowing him the "grace" to skip out on submitting yearly care plans for THREE YEARS in a row? That action would have any one of us thrown off as guardian. What about Greer's acceptance of EVERY SINGLE person who testified on behalf of Michael and THREW OUT nearly every single affadavit and testimony of the Schindler family? WHat about Terri's constitutional rights? Its not that she just hasn't had her own council, its been DENIED to her. Rejected by Judge Greer, George Felos and mostly by her estranged spouse, Michael Schiavo. What about her rights to a jury of peers? Why is a probate court deciding a life and death matter, anyhow? What about those rights?

PLEASE be sure those who are against this bill fully understand the HORROR of this case and why Congress stepped into it in the first place.

Why has this happened that the Courts have ruled she is "terminal" due to a wrong PVS diagnosis?

Because her diagnosis was based on older tests and NOT ON ADVANCED and more intricate test studies. Many doctors have asked to perform those tests.

WHy aren't the tests performed then?

Because her husband, and the Florida courts, won't let them test her.

    Why?

Because her spouse will not authorize it.

    Why?

Because he KNOWS it would show she is indeed NOT PVS.

    WHy, then?

Because he knows then that he cannot kill her by a court order.

    Why?

Because he is controlling, calculating and in his own words on last years Larry King Live he stated the reason he wont give Terri back to her parents is "Because her family has caused me hell"

    Why?

Because he thought he was going to quietly kill her off by holding off antibiotics way back in November of 1993 the second week after the award settlement was won, but her family interfered and took him to court to make him give her antibiotics.

    Why?

Because back in 1993, once the check cleared the banks, he would have inherited EVERY SINGLE PENNY OF her trust care fund of $750,000 had she died , due to no antibiotics.

    PROMISES, PROMISES

"MICHAEL MADE A PROMISE" , says George Felos, attorney "I PROMISED TERRI", states Michael Schiavo, estranged spouse

What about the promise to love and honor made during his marriage ceremony under the roof of God's house? What about through sickness and in health? What about the promise of love and fidelity throughout their marriage? He has committed adultry. What about those promises?

What about his promise, as testified below, to please award he and Terri a malpractice settlement so that he can get his nursing degree and bring her home and care for her? What about that promise?

    *end of partial transcript (snippet)

Michael Schiavo got his nursing degree; he got the money; and he NEVER brought Terri home after that. He has never applied ONE HOUR of his nursing education towards the care of his wife. Instead he got the money and put her on DNR and proceed to prevent the family from having knowledge of her condition; banned them on numerous times from visitations; HALTED ALL THERAPY; and began to take full control of Terri Schindler Schiavo. Clear to controlling when and how she will die and the courts of Florida has supported him every step of the way.

    MORE MICHAEL LIES

Please note the additional lies in his testimony. He stated he had an intimate relationship 5 YEARS after Terri's "incident". In the trial transcript below from January 24, 2000.

Please review below the statements at the trial transcript for the malpractice trial. (before he knew he would be under such scrutiny). Note the intimate dating "date"? Do the math. That deposition was taken in 1993. He spoke of dating Cindy Shook for 8 months and Jodi for 3 months. That is 11 months. Subtract that from 1993 and we are looking at 1992. Terri "collapsed" in 1990.

THIS WAS NOT 5 YEARS LATER, as Michael lied below.

    HOSTAGE OF HOSPICE

Terri has been a hostage of Michael Schiavo for the past 13 years. She is the longest disabled American to be held captive by the American Court System of FLorida. Even following death he wants full control. Her parents wish her to be buried in Florida with a plot near them. Michael is cremating her and spreading her ashes far away in Pennsylvania. His desires rule according to Judge George Greer. How much more cruel can Michael Schiavo be and still have the courts side with him?

What about the fact he has a Registered Nursing Degree? Is it allowable to be a registered nurse and call upon a "mercy killing" and to publicly voice ones opinion towards right-to-die? Apparently George W. Greer does NOT read the newspapers or listen to the radio broadcasts.....or chooses to ignore it the same as he has done to Terri's family over and over again. How can he sleep at night knowing he is issuing a death sentence on a human being by denying her council and denying her the ability of therapy and treatment with the newly found testing available? At the same time, he professes to be a Christian? Apparently his Baptist Church does not enforce the beliefs that we, as humans, have a moral obligation to care for those who cannot care for themselves...not kill them.

Your post regarding Terri Schiavo contains a bit of inaccurate information. You stated that Michael Schiavo, Terri's spouse, did NOT wish to terminate the life of Terri and that he applied the efforts to the courts in 1998 after 8 years of therapy. That is totally inaccurate. Michael Schiavo initially tried to bring Terri to her death in 1993 when he wanted her antibiotics withheld for no reason other than the hopeful outcome of her demise by a massive infection. The family took him to court. The judge ruled he must allow antibiotics. Yes, the battle has been ongoing...however, it is not fair; nor just; to paint a different picture than what exists. Terri Schiavo collapsed on Feb 25, 1990. Only weeks after her collapse her spouse, Michael, euthanized her HEALTHY cats. He melted her wedding rings and made jewelery for himself. He took her to California for experimental brain implants....all PRIOR to be awarded a malpractice trust fund....Yes, he appeared to be the devoted spouse....except, if you look at court transcripts...you will find he was already having mattress aerobics with one of Terri's nurses at the SAME TIME he was "trying" to get implants for her. Yes...he was the "devoted spouse" Until the money came in. Once the money came in.....THAT IS WHEN he decided she no longer needed therapy and brought it to a halt. That is when he tried to withhold antibiotic therapy. THAT, my friend, was in 1993. The same year the check cleared the bank. The idea of yanking her feeding tube and starving her to death did not surface until Michael brought in George Felos, the infamous right-to-die attorney who can communicate with comatose patients telepathically while they scream out to him "please kill me", YES.........you can color it any way you wish.........anybody who really wants to know what is going on in the Terri Schiavo case needs to read the court documents. THey are located on the family website: www.terrisfight.org Oh, did I forget to mention how the courts are so adamanet to see to Terri's death? OR that George Felos was on the Board of Directors at the SunCoast Hospice the same hospice that has allowed Terri to have a bed even though she is no different as terminal as you or I? Imagine that? Oh...but he quickly resigned shortly after Terri's placement. What a shame, a real hospice patient is losing the opportunity to have a hospice bed. This whole case reeks of conspiracy and ulterior motives.........even a sixth grader can see that...why can't you?

Am I missing something here? Those that support the right-to-life certainly are ecstatic over the fact that Connor was in fact considered a human being, and not just cellular components considered a fetus...yet at the same time how can one be ecstatic over a death sentence of a human being based on circumstantial evidence? I, for one, believe he is guilty and should be given life in prison....however, I don't believe "I" have the right to take away another human's life unless in the position of self-defense.

The celebration was not just a happy time to gather in honor of Terri's birthday, but also to educate the public, as well. I think Cheryl Ford, and others who assisted, did a remarkable job of coordinating and orchestrating what appears to be a very successful gathering! I am positive the family was deeply touched and it enabled those that attended to meet and feel the mutual compassion of others who support the right for Terri's life. Excellent job! Wish I could have been there!!.......by the way, the chicken is a supporters pet, and a pretty unique one at that! I understand that it brought smiles to the crowd :)

I am willing to bet that Michael Schiavo is wondering why Terri has not died yet? He has tried to force her into death by the same means that took Christopher Reeve. We all know he initially tried to withhold her from getting antibiotics....he was hoping an infection would take her away.

Many folks do not realize that a simple infection can cause the death of an immobile person. I am also confident he let her dental care go for so long, also hoping she would get an infection and would die of it. (Christopher Reeve died yesterday from a simple bedsore that got infected...entered the bloodstream and caused a systemic infection.... which attacked his body to his death)

What happened to Christopher Reeve is what MS has hoped would happen to Terri for years....and even those who support him cannot deny this. I guess it goes to say that Terri must have one heck of a strong will to live. Shouldn't that count as to her wishes?

Christopher Reeve was a real fighter and had a very strong will to overcome his obstacles. As we know, God must of felt he has more important work to do in heaven just as he has done here on earth. His work for those with spinal cord injuries has been instrumental in helping thousands and most probably millions more to come. His loss will be surely missed and our prayers go to his family.

According to Michael and his court testimony, Nov. 19, 1993, he and Terri were talking about Terri's UNCLE who was EXTREMELY DEPRESSED and disabled AFTER he lost his wife and child in a train accident.

HOW do you not know that Terri didnt mean "I wouldnt want to live like that"....as meaning..... "IF I lost my spouse and children, I wouldnt want to live being depressed and in grief...I would have rather chosen to have died with them ?" Does that make sense? (see PROOF below in MIchaels testimony)

I have heard stories of families who have lost their spouses and children in fires and accidents and only one parent is left alive and BELIEVE ME....I myself have said it many times when I hear such on the news that "I would have wanted to die with them, then to live my life with out my entire family."....

By the way, I want you to note that in describing this scenario....he SPECIFICALLY STATES He, Terri, and his brother..........SO WHERE IN THE WORLD DOES THAT SISTER IN LAW WHO TESTIFIED SHE WAS THERE IN THIS CONVERSATION FIT IN?

Now do you see why NOBODY believes his statement of "terri's wishes" ????

    TOO MANY WHAT-IFS.

A court should NEVER have based their decision on hearsay and most probably , incorrect hearsay. In case you don't believe me....here's the proof:

November 19, 1993: Statement by Michael Schiavo in court hearing

1 A She was my wife. I lived with her. We shared

2 things. We shared a bed. We shared our thoughts. And

3 one incident in particular, a few years back when her

4 grandmother was -- Grandmother Shindler -- she was in and

5 out of a coma. She was in. She was out. She was real

6 sick. And we'd go see her, and we had a vacation planned,

7 to come here to Florida; myself, my brother and my wife.

8 So when we left, her grandmother was still

9 critical. We left, got on the train, and we had this

10 conversation about her grandmother and things like that.

11 And we started talking about her uncle, her uncle Fred,

12 who had lost his wife and child tragically in a train

13 wreck. And he was on an emotional roller coaster. He was

14 a very distraught person, agreeably, after losing your

15 wife and child on a train wreck.

16 And, I guess, I believe he went out one night had

17 a few drinks and wrapped his car around a telephone pole.

18 And her uncle was in a coma for awhile and emerged a man

19 that she never knew anymore. He was disabled. He can't

20 walk. He can't do things for himself. His kids are his

21 Power of Attorney now. We got into discussion about that

22 and she said to me, I would never want to live like that.

23 I would want to just die.

EXAMPLE OF Judge George Greer’s ARROGANCE; EGO and UNPROFESSIONALISM
    A. Here is a “professional letter” (sic) written by Judge George Greer (when he was county commissioner) to an Attorney named: Al Galbraith
George Greer has been the attorney representing three former employees of Mako's Bay Club who were charged under the ordinance, are not interested in pursuing the case and reportedly have left the area. He's also a county commissioner.
    Dear Al,
Would you think me trite if I suggested that you are ``beating a dead horse``? Now that the city of Clearwater has noise meters, which apparently are enforceable and being enforced, I do not think it terribly important that this case be pursued.
Furthermore, I do not think that Columbo (the TV detective) could find my ``former`` clients if given many months to accomplish this task.
For these and many other reasons, please go away!
With kindest personal regards, very truly yours, George.
    REPLY BY ATTY GALBRAITH:
    Dear George.
Thanks for your suggestion, but I absolutely do not believe that we are ``beating a dead horse.`` Our use of noise meters has yet to be tested in court, and the noise meters are useful only in a limited set of circumstances.
From the city's perspective, it is very important that this case be pursued. I will be gratified if the law of this case is brought into line with the law in other jurisdictions across the country, as represented by the seven federal and 24 state court decisions, which I have brought to the attention of the court, including decisions of the Supreme Court, the Florida Supreme Court and 13 state court decisions outside the state of Florida.
In fact, if I am able to salvage this case, I would highly recommend adoption of the ordinance by Pinellas County. Until a final decision is made, I do not intend to ``go away.``
    Sincerely, Al.

LARGO - George Greer, the county commissioner who is also a member of the Pinellas Planning Council and chairman of the Metropolitan Planning Organization, last fall put on another hat - that of a private attorney - and met separately with three Largo commissioners to discuss a land-use change on the East Bay Country Club property.
Greer says he sees nothing improper about the meetings.
``I still have a private life,`` Greer said. ``Because I'm chairman of the County Commission`` - he was chairman at the time of the meetings last fall - ``doesn't mean I give up my profession.``
Greer met with Mayor George McGough and Commissioners Jean Halvorsen and Jim Miles at Largo City Hall last fall to discuss a plan that would allow the Lenhardts to build more condominiums than codes currently allow on part of the golf course property, a move opposed by some neighbors. Greer said he arranged the meetings to present his clients' development plans to selected officials. They were ``prearranged,`` Greer said. ``I just didn't show up like the bus had dropped me off.``
Commissioners Bob Jackson and Ernest Wm. Bach both said they were glad they were not approached by Greer.
``I don't think that, as an elected official, he should have taken a job like that,`` Jackson said. ``Especially on an issue as sensitive as that one.``
    B. Campaign Contributions: Copyright Times Publishing Co. Jun 24, 1988
In campaign fund-raising this year, both Greer and Todd have received a substantial amount of money from developers and associated professions.
Greer had raised a total of $30,375 on April 10, when campaign financing reports were last due. Of that total, about $12,000 was from developers, engineering and planning firms, and lawyers who often represent them. Todd had raised $35,450 during the same period, and about $9,500 of the total came from the development business.
The commissioners up for re-election and the developers who have given them money say that campaign contributions are not meant to influence a policy decision like this.
``I've never had anyone come to me and say, `Hey, I contributed to your campaign. You owe me something.' Never had a hint of that,`` Greer said.

The next few days will tell us all a lot about how responsive County Commissioner George Greer is to the concerns of locally elected officials. They'll also disclose whether the state Department of Transportation (DOT) under Secretary Kaye Henderson is, indeed, in the business of jamming roads down the throats of smaller cities.
The test case that will reveal these results is the City of Oldsmar's battle over a DOT plan to cram six lanes of concrete through the heart of the city's historic downtown, an area it is planning to revitalize. The DOT plan, further, would seal off seven - count them, seven - local streets, and thus the connection of historic older Oldsmar with its main artery, Tampa Road.
The DOT proposes to re-route State Road 580, six-lane it and make it a limited-access thoroughfare running for about one mile from County Road 667 eastward to Tampa Road through the old downtown. Greer is the current chairman of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The MPO advises the DOT on local transportation projects. Its word can help change, if not stop, DOT plans. But the MPO has no members on it from Oldsmar, or from the other emerging growth communities of Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs, although other cities have designated seats. Given one opportunity already to heed the concerns of Oldsmar officials, the MPO seemed to turn a deaf ear.
Oldsmar officials, virtually unanimously, are irate over the plan.

CLEARWATER - A couple of whispered conversations almost landed County Commissioner George Greer and assistant county attorney Scott Steady in jail Tuesday. It happened during the trial of Safety Harbor vs. the Pinellas County Planning Council, when Greer and Steady were called down by Circuit Judge Thomas E. Penick Jr. The first offense brought a pencil tap, a stern look and a short reprimand from the judge.
The second chatter elicited a threat: ``In baseball you get three strikes,`` Penick warned. ``In here, it's three strikes and you go to jail.`` Greer and Steady were quiet throughout the rest of the testimony.
Oddly enough, even though Greer and Steady were conversing, this appeared in the paper following:
Copyright Times Publishing Co. Sep 3, 1987 Correction (9/3/87): Circuit Judge Thomas J. Penick Jr. said he did not reprimand County Commission Chairman George Greer for talking in court Tuesday. He said he was directing his comments only to Assistant County Attorney Scott Steady, who was whispering to Greer during a trial. At the time, Penick compared his warning to the youth baseball team Greer once coached and said, ""In here, it's three strikes and you go to jail.'' Wednesday the judge said, ""I can understand how it got misinterpreted.''

Death raises questions about system, March 15. (bad judgment call, again?)
Judge George Greer did not sign the restraining order of Helene Ball- McGee against her husband, Bobby McGee. Bobby McGee brutally stabbed his wife, to death.
(Copyright Times Publishing Co. Mar 13, 1998)
According to the deputy's report, Mrs. McGee said her husband wanted sex 10 to 20 times daily and told her she was not following the "commandments" of marriage.
Mrs. McGee also told deputies that McGee had burned her collection of angels, icons, crosses and other religious items.
Deputies returned to her house Feb. 26 after another argument. Photographs of her ex-husbands and family members had been torn from frames and burned in the fireplace, along with 30 pairs of her shoes. The house was ransacked, and telephone lines were cut.
That day, Mrs. McGee petitioned for an injunction to protect her from domestic violence. The next day, she filed for divorce.
The man had previous history of violence, yet…because Mrs. McGee did not state dates of him physically hitting her…Judge Greer refused to sign the protective order..knowing the above actions that he committed against Mrs. McGee.

    G. Odd, isn’t it? Attorney Larry Crow, initially the FIRST lawyer hired by the Schindler family…. Is the FIRST SIGNATURE on a campaign fund flyer to re-elect Judge George Greer this coming November, 2004.

    H. It seems to be a common problem…Judge George Greer, even in his County Commissioner days, seems to act out on his “opinions” rather than research the issues. Copyright Times Publishing Co. May 22, 1992
As a citizen of Pinellas County, I am very angry that the County Commission voted to approve a project with no input from the very people who were being affected - the homeowners-taxpayers!
I would hope that Commissioner Greer is sincere in his concern about this project and not using it for political gain. To date, I have seen no other commissioner express concern about the impact of this project. It is quite obvious to all of us that this was not thoroughly researched. This is certainly an example of how very removed our elected officials are from the citizens they are to serve.

The Schindlers' lead attorney, Pat Anderson, claims Greer talked to reporters about the case after a teleconference between the judge and attorneys for both parties ended on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

"On Wednesday or Thursday, I learned from a local reporter that, in fact, the reporters stayed in Judge Greer's chambers after the conclusion of the telephonic hearing for some period of time, asking him questions and recording his responses," Anderson charged. "It is my firm conviction that Judge Greer, in effect, held an impromptu press conference about the merits of the case pending before him without counsel for the parties being present."

Anderson referenced testimony from other individuals, corroborating her accusation that Greer had discussed the case with reporters, colleagues and elected officials outside his office, in alleged violation of the Florida Canons of Judicial Conduct.

"It is my belief that Judge Greer is no longer possessed of the cold, impartial neutrality that the Canons require of any judge," Anderson wrote in her affidavit supporting the motion.
