Hi, freebacon and welcome to FR. I enjoyed your rant because much of what you say I agree with, and I encourage you to post often.

I've never thought that spelling or grammar had anything to do with freedom or clarity of thought but I can tell you that lot's of folks on this forum put a lot of stock in spelling and such. You have probably noticed that many are more intersted in you ability to spell than the ideas you put forth. Being unschooled I can neither spell nor put a sentence together, I depend on Word to help me get it right.

Keep posting, who knows someday maybe you will be tenured at some university teaching White History. We need some studies on that subject and I'll even consider reenrolling to see what I've missed.

Best to you freebacon and keep the fire inside burning.

I got a chuckle over Goldburg's take on trading books, they come and they go. As I have stated before, I don't get much from books because most are above me. I would like to name a few that I have read that I could understand and have proven helpful, to me, in trading the markets. I. "Modern Commodity Futures Trading"-Gerald Gold-1959.This book is ancient however this book is still a good primer if you can overlook the fact that many of the markets they talk about are now dead. A sterling example of how markets change over time yet the principals that can make you money remain the same. This book could be a big help if the trading of eggs, rye, or hides ever make a come back. II."Viewpoints of a Commodity Trader"-Roy Longstreet-1967.IMO best book ever written on trading, when things get dark after I've run up a string of losses, I go back to this book. III."Winner Take All"-William Gallacher-1994 revised edition. this book is a gem has lot of truth in it and gives advice that, if followed, will put you on the winning side of things plus the fact that it's fun to read.

Books that I don't read are those books written by so-calles experts who promise easy riches or claim to be big-time traders, especially those who seem to spend most of their time writing books or selling subscriptions to their advisory services. Sometimes you see these guys on TV telling people how easy it is, if it's that damn easy how come they aren't making their money on the doing of what they are preaching.

    Good luck to all.

I will never again support the two party hydra.

Congratulations on your newfound freedom. You will never be sorry for voting your conscience and for the principals that you believe in. To stand against the crowd is a lonely adventure but one that is full of reward. Your highest reward will come when you take stock of yourself and know, that to yourself you have been true.

You will not be taking part in any victory celebrations but, as a rule, they are nothing but hollow promises and empty bluster. A wasted moment in the history of a decaying nation. So, welcome to the cold, breathe deep, the air out here is clean.

There are those who will tell you that you are not living in the real world...they are wrong. They think that by following men who would build a nation using the tools of chicanery and stratagem they will gain their goals, not realizing their ship is afloat on rotten timbers and the rugged reefs of reality will cast them away on a shore of desolation.

The buzzards are gathering and elections will not be the end of this thing.

I'll stand with George W. Bush

I will not,I did not in 2000 and won't in 2004. Plain and simple, Bush is a Rinorat, I don't like them and won't vote for them.

I was raised up not to trust any damn government, and I don't. Anyone who pays for food, gas, insurance, auto or home repairs---knows the government is a filthy pig of a liar.

I split a lot of firewood using an 8 lb. mall; before I split each round, I envision the face of some career politician or career bureaucrat imprinted on that round.

    I enjoy splitting wood.

Way to go Tom! Keep standing up for Conservative ideals and keep sticking it in the face of the Socialist Rinorats.

If the state can't stop the spending it should go bankrupt and if that bankruptcy fuels the flames of anarchy, it will be all to the good. Nothing gets fixed until it's really busted and this state is busted like none other.

Four weeks later - an update

On Thur. 10/16 I did this post.Well if you got ten grand to shoot and another hundred fifty sloshing around, who needs Jimmy. Just buy Mar Coffee, short Dec Cotton, short Feb Bellies, kick back relax and see how it all looks in three or four weeks.

The next morning at 8:45PDT I did the following mind bet trades and today closed those trades out at 8:45PDT.Here's how it went:

Bought Coffee=63.40,Sold Cotton=76.95, Sold Bellies=88.40. Today Sold Coffee 63.35-Loss(18.75); Bought Cotton 73.65-Win 1650.00; Bought Bellies 87.20-Win 480.00. A combined win of 2111.25 Deduct Commissions of 90.00 and fill slide of 255.00. and you have net profit of 1766.25.

All the above proves nothing but hopefully what I say below will get you to thinking about the trading of commodities on your onw hook.

First, all three trades were made against the prevailing market trend. Second, I entered no stops to cut losses short. Third, all three markets are considered exotic or tricky markets to trade. Most market experts and trading advisers, especially those who engage in writing trading books, will tell you that anyone who trades like that is a nut who's on a fast trip to tap-city. So, in these trades I broke some 'carved in stone' rules and not only survivedd but also turned a small profit.(Luck ?)

I am convinced that the trading of commodity futures offers the small gambler the best opportunity to turn a small amount of money into a large amount.I'm also convinced that the small gambler can come up with some good plays to beat the market, plays that the experts and fund managers would be afraid to take because for them, the risk of failure is too great. Over the years, gambling in the markets has been good to me; I hope that it will be good for those who frequent this corner of FR.

    Stay out of the casino.

Well for anyone who can't follow that sound advise and has an urge for some actual casino action, I would suggest reading this book before you put any money on the tables; "How to Win" by Mike Goodman. I read that book close to forty years ago and it helped me stay alive in Vegas for a long time. The section on craps is the best and it gave me the nucleus of a method of play that has put me well ahead of the dice tables. Just went over to Amazon to see if its still in print,it is and the price is 6.99.

    Sorry arete, just couldn't resist.

I don't smoke but whenever I am offered a choice between smoking and non-smoking , I choose the smoking section. One; I feel that I'm in with a better class of people, and two; I enjoy the aroma, it is the smell of freedom. On the subject of smell, whenever you get togeather a room full of people who want to take away another citizens freedoms they give off an odor, something akin to rancid buzzard puke, smells almost as bad as those hallowed halls of congress.

To all the smokers, keep on puffing and do it as tax free as you can.

I am not a Republican. I was for close to forty years but decided the party was not extreme enough to ever be of any account. We are three votes in my family, two votes are in the mail for McClintock and my vote for him will be Oct.7. I vote for McClintock because I think he will be the best man for the job and for California. I will vote McClintock because the positions he takes are the ones closest to my beliefs. The main reason put up to vote for A/S is that he is the most electable. IMO that is a horrible reason select a leader and that kind of reasoning has gone a long way towards making the mess that the party finds itself in.

Another thread on this race was entitled something about a bloodbath occurring at the upcoming convention. I would look forward to such a shakeout as I feel that the biggest problem with the Republican Party is the ideological split that this election brings to the surface. Moderate Republicans and the hard right cannot coexist. I think it would be a good thing for one or the other faction to take total control of the party and expunnge the weaker faction entirely from its ranks. I am extreme in my views and would be rooting for the hard right to prevail in such a battle. At least, this recall election and the debate going on in this forum has flushed out the moderates(RINORATS)from the hard right conservatives(WING NUTS or whatever).

The debate will probably not be held until McClintock gets a call frm the White House and does the right thing. #58

If McCintock gets that call fron the White House, the right thing, is to tell them to go to hell and kiss his ass on their way. We got way too much RINO crap being broadcast out this way as it is.

I will vote McClintock, because I think he is best for the job and the state. If my vote causes a pumped-up hank of RINO filth to go down the toilet, good damn riddance. I will consider that a victory.

Looks like old Jimmy C. never heard about the three S policy, Shoot,Shovel, and Shup-up. He got the shoot part right but the shovel part must have turned him off.

His biggest mistake was not following the shut-up rule because someone ratted him out. Maybe next time he will tell no one, drive a little further into the sticks and start his own personal dead dog pile.

We live off grid and have been generating our own power for near 20 years. When the diesel tank is full, have enough fuel to run for 18 months. So black outs not a problem.

Have two good wells and a spring that puts out about 300 gal. water per hr. Pure cold clear water.

Have a garden that puts out vegetables during the summer and chickens that put out eggs whenever they feel like it. Our family does not eat much meat but if the store closes down we have deer, bear, and squirrel aplenty around this place.

All our heat comes from a wood stove and it burns five months a year. Two and a half cords the winter. We don't have a/c as we don't need it.

Not many would like to live isolated the way we do but when I go down to the big city(three times per year)I never like what I see and am always thankful to be leaving fast.
