According to my calculations, this makes the five hundred sixty fourth time this year that Chavez has claimed that a conspiracy to kill him is afoot.

Hey Hugo...Ted Koppel is still waiting on your proof from your last claim.

Let me guess what comes next...rounding up political opposition under the auspices that they are CIA affliates?

Why doesn't Hugo just man up and stop selling us oil if he hates the "imperialistos" so much?

He hates the US, but loves him some dollars.

What the dems are truly scared of is another galvanizing military effort that pulls more voters over to the republican party in the lead up to the next presidential election.

They are not stupid. They realize that Iran is quite different from Iraq in that people are concerned already about Iran and since Iran is not even really pretending anymore that they are seeking nuclear weapons it is a whole different ballgame.

Democrats are stuck with trying to convince people that Iran having nuclear weapons is "ok" or to try and quagmire it away and delay by constant referrals to the UN in the hopes that they can belay any military effort that would bring more people to the presidents side.

    Lol,

    Secure the border?

Since when is Chavez big on that? He actively supports and/or ignores the daily border crossings by FARC from and to Columbia. What's up Hugo? Getting paranoid your FARC buddies might be getting too big for their britches?

Hey Hugo, I believe Ted Koppel is still waiting for your proof of "impending US invasion" you promised way back.

Maybe in the past you would be correct.

If the people you mention "could" have taken him out, they would have.

Problem is that he controls EVERY facet of the military and has thoroughly cleansed or defanged the police that is still not within his control.

Want to see real trouble brew?

Have oil drop to sub $50 levels for six months and the economy and the hand outs will dry up...then you will see things happen.

Chavez keeps his people loyal with a combination of good old fashioned bribery and if that does not work, force.

Such is to be expected of a communist coupster.

Ironically, the main issue that he rose to power on, the gasoline subsidy...he is now on the same side of the president that he replaced on the matter.

Bang for the Buck, is it an excellent weapon.

I would however take a Russian AK-47 instead of an M-16 in a desert or jungle environment due to its loser tolerances and ability to take a beating and of course a round with more stopping power than the 5.56.

There are however a glut of crappy low tolerance AK clones out there though.

I wouldn't mind picking up one of the AK104s

Saw Palmetto extract in large enough doses has simi.lar effect as common anti-DHT prescription meds.

Other advances in natural blood sugar regulation are also promising. There is one very interesting new compound that increases glucose sensitivity ONLY in skeletal muscle cells, which has far ranging health effects.

But I also agree, there is also a ton of BS products out there.

What I find interesting is that the researchers neglected to mention that testosterone actually converts directly to estrogen in males.

It is the only way that estrogen is "made" in the body in males.

I seriously question the science behind this, especially since there is conflicting science and the levels of exposure to testosterone are not mentioned.

    Exactly.

My wife was watching real time with Bill Maher the other day, (yes, I know, I forgive her) and one of the lefty guests made a statement to the effect of: "What is the purpose of terror? It's to elicit a grand overreaching response"

    I just sat there confounded...

I always thought the purpose of terrorism was to cause terror in order to force a political viewpoint, or just outright murder.

This guy was basically saying that terrorists attack us so we will strongly attack them back....

pretty self defeating strategy really. You don't score a touchdown with the intent of having the other team score ten touchdowns, right?

I guess Hugo realized after the eighteen billionth time that he claimed that the US was planning to invade Venezuela that people started to call him the boy who cried wolf.

He is consistent at least, he keeps the standard "hey look at the big evil US" while he consolidates power and crushes Venezuelan democracy and drives the economy and social conditions to ruin in his pursuit of a "bolivarian (stalinist) revolution".

I guess if I were Hugo I would be trying to distract his folks from the sextupled inflation, 90,000 violent crime related deaths, and a failing medical system since his takeover in 1998.

Ah well, not like he is going anywhere with the CNE and Supreme Courts in his pocket. If he was truly afraid of his electoral opponents he would actually be actively campaigning against them, so far he is basically ignoring them.

The only thing that will remove Chavez from power is a coup. Like Castro, he will never lose another "election".

    Anything over a .22?

I've always said that some nut that knows how to use a scoped 30-06 or even a .270 can be much more of a killer than the typical "assault" rifles.

I will be extremely shocked if this guy does not end up at ambient temperature by the time this is all over.

    Exactly my thoughts.

Firstly, the US is not "blowing up the entire city", and has not in the most recent conflicts ever since the push towards tactical missle and precision bombing strikes.

The enemy knows that we along with Israel try to target precisely, which is why groups like Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda specifically launch rockets, plan, and hideout from civilian homes.

All of the whining by the international community about civilian deaths due to precision strikes, however regrettable they are, is empty rhetoric when one considers what our true capabilities are.

Plain and simple, we "could" fire up those good ol' B-52s and carpet bomb cities to target enemies, but we do not, because for all of the neo-communist and jihadi whining, they know deep down that if we wished, we could obliterate whole societies and countries in our zeal to target terrorists.

There is NOT an everlasting fount of islamic radicals being born who will grow up to hate. Cultures have been forced to change their views through force from other cultures plenty of times throughout world history.

Our benevolence is both our greatest strength and our greatest weakness.

    Ahmadinejad: Or else.... what?
UN: Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.
Ahmadinejad: OK, Hans. I'll show you. Stand to your reft.

  • Venezuela Threatens to Nationalize CAVTV

Two very key parts to this:

    1. CANTV is also the largest provider of high speed internet access. You can imagine the implications..the internet and bloggers are the "X" factor that until now Chavez has not been able to control.

    2. What this article is not clear on is that Verizon/CANTV is WAITING FOR A COURT DECISION to tell them what they have to pay for pensions. It is completely in the hands of the chavista courts to make a decision on the pension plan.

Chavez is trying to demonize CANTV because it (the pensions) was a key part of his "revolution" from the beginning, and conveniently he can angle to nationalize and therefore control internet and information within the country, just like the gag laws on the media currently in place.
