There have been over 14,000 people evacuated,at least seven dead,several missing and hundreds of homes and businesses have been totally destroyed. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Department confirms that a man confronted the student resource officer at the school today. The SRO calmed the man down until more officers arrived, at which time the man drew his gun on the SRO and he was shot by officers with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department. YAY!!!! Free Republic is finally working correctly on my end after driving me nuts for weeks! Please pray for my family. We got very bad news today. We found out today that my 69 year old mother is in very serious condition. She had to have a mastectomy 2 years ago because of breast cancer. We were told that it was in her lymph nodes and she went through all of the recommended chemo and radiation. Everything looked good as far as the cancer was concerned. She seemed to be doing well. I absolutely despise liberals and their accursed E.P.A. I have really severe allergies and asthma. Because of the libs and their stupid environmental regulations I can no longer get some of the medicines that I need to control my symptoms. One of my medicines (Beconase aerosol) was completely removed from the market and the other (Albuterol) has had the propellant changed so, therefore, it is no longer available as a generic. What used to be a reasonably priced medicine has gone up dramatically in price and the insurance co-pay is 5 times what is was just since December. Thank you...

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Exide Technologies will lay off 567 employees at its Bristol plant — nearly 70 percent of its current work force there — starting May 1. Company official Bruce Cole said Wednesday the layoffs are “indefinite,” but they “hope for an improvement in the marketplace that may allow us to put people back to work at our Bristol facility.” Opened in 1994, Exide’s Bristol plant is a manufacturing and distribution center of lead-acid batteries used in the automotive, marine and specialty industries. A 23-year-old transient was sentenced to 10 days in County Jail on Wednesday for catching and cooking a federally protected steelhead trout from San Luis Obispo Creek. Victor Manuel Silva was convicted of illegally taking and possessing wildlife. Wildlife officials said the poaching was a blow to the species because the fish was an egg-carrying female that was killed before she had a chance to spawn. I am getting really sick of the Mexican Invasion costing so many jobs in the Southwest Virginia- East Tennessee area. My husband is a brickmason. He is the 5th generation mason in his family- our son is the 6th. Up until just a couple of years ago brickmasons had contractors ringing their phones off of the wall wanting them to do work for them. My aunt who has been a champion dog breeder for 50 years just had the Washington Co. VA animal control (acting on an anonymous tip) swoop down on her like she's some kind of criminal. She went to court yesterday because all of her dogs were confiscated. They charged her with inhumane treatment and animal neglect. All that the judge said she was guilty of was not keeping her animals absolutely clean. She's 76 years old.
