Being a native-born Texan, it is my understanding that Texas is the only State in the Union that can legally secede from the Union, because it was once a Republic on it's own. (The Republic of Texas.) Now, someone help me out here: Is that a fact? If so, I'm calling on all Texas FReepers to join me in laying the groundwork to make it happen if Barack Obama is reelected. What do we need to do to start a Secession Movement, and where do we begin? If you're not a Texan, you don't understand the Texas mind-set. If BHO...

Obama needed a filet mignon in the June employment report. But instead he got a rubber chicken. Only 80,000 new jobs were created last month, way below Wall Street expectations. It’s the fourth consecutive monthly disappointment. For a few months last winter, jobs were rising at an average of 225,000 a month. But that has sloped way down to only 75,000. The unemployment rate continues at 8.2 percent, which is the forty-first straight month above 8 percent. The U6 unemployment rate, which includes discouraged workers, is just under 15 percent. As voters finalize their election impressions this summer, all of...

Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe isn’t feeling good about President Obama anymore. The heavy metal band’s bassist was an Obama supporter but now says POTUS has been a disappointment. Knocking Obama for keeping up with celebrities, Sixx tweeted on Saturday, “Our president is commenting on Kanye, having Lindsey at his party and failing our economy. I used to believe in him but it's time for change!”

    1) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 a plate Democrat campaign fund raising event. 2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against Black Americans when we have a Black President, a Black Attorney General, and roughly 8% of the FEDERAL workforce is black. 12% of the population is black. 3) Only in America could we have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH...

If you have any doubts that Obama will be sent packing from the White House in November, then cast your eyes at this list of reasons Barack Obama will be a one-term president. 1. Jobs, jobs, jobs While the official unemployment rate has inched down to close to 8 percent, that number would be much higher if all the discouraged job hunters who stopped looking for work were included. Obama’s record as a job creator is dismal, because the basic tenets of his economic ideology are woefully misguided. Government doesn’t create jobs, it just gets in the way of companies...

The legacy of the 2008 campaign was the code of omerta enforced by the the legacy media about anything having to do with Obama’s past. Where was he born? Don’t care. What were his college years like? Can’t you move on to something important, like the time Mitt Romney ragged some hippie in high school? Why did Obama say that former Weatherman Bill Ayers was “just a guy in the neighborhood” when he was plainly an important political mentor, if not also the ghostwriter, for the future president? There are a lot of questions to be asked about Barack Obama....

Sean Hannity exposed much about B. Hussein Obama lately taken from Obama's own words from his Book: "Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance". He said many outlandish things; talked about his drug and alcohol abuse, hanging out with "Marxist Professors", etc. But, IMO, the most damning thing that he wrote and said was this statement: "White Folk's Greed Runs a World In Need" "White Folk's Greed....." That should go viral in every newspaper, cable news network, as well as GOP and Super PAC ads during this 2012 Presidential Election. Where is the outrage? Is anyone, besides...

Mitt Romney may be the presumptive GOP nominee, but Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is quietly racking up some organizational victories that could complicate Mr. Romney’s coronation at the Republican Convention in Tampa, Fla. Exploiting party rules, loyalists for the congressman from Texas in recent days have engineered post-primary organizing coups in states such as Louisiana and Alaska, confirming what party regulars say would be an effort to grab an outsized role in the convention and the party’s platform deliberations. In Massachusetts, Paul loyalists over the weekend helped block more than half of Mr. Romney’s preferred nominees from being named...

Oscar-winning producer Gerald Molen, who collaborated with Steven Spielberg on “Schindler’s List,” has been low-key about his conservatism. In this week’s edition of The Hollywood Reporter, Molen speaks about his politics and writes about his upcoming documentary with Dinesh D’Souza, “Obama: 2016,” which seeks to unveil the origin of President Barack Obama’s worldview. ... Molen said he is concerned, like many other Americans, about the direction the country is taking. Neither he nor the American public, he insisted, knows much about Obama. ... So Molen ... teamed up with D’Souza, whose book “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” piqued his interest....

George Zimmerman has been released from a Florida jail after posting $150,000 bond as he awaits trial for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman exited the John E. Polk Correctional Facility (JEPCF) at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office at approximately midnight on Monday. The 28-year-old posted bond and was fitted with an electronic monitoring device prior to release, according to a statement from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. The GPS device, which can give immediate identification of an offender's whereabouts at any given time, will be monitored by the SCSO and Seminole County Probation.

GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney got back-to-back endorsements from prominent pro-life groups Thursday, signaling that anti-abortion forces will overlook his previous pro-choice positions in their shared desire to defeat President Obama in the general election. The Susan B. Anthony List threw its support behind Mr. Romney in a morning news release and National Right-to-Life, the nation’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, followed suit with a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington. “Now is the time to unite behind Gov. Romney in order to defeat the most ideologically pro-abortion president in our nation’s history,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president...

Democrats demanded Thursday, April 12, that state elections officials disqualify a half-dozen Republicans running as fake Democrats in this spring's recall primary elections, saying the candidates lied about their party affiliation. The Democrats' attorney, Jeremy Levinson, filed a complaint with the Government Accountability Board alleging that the state GOP has openly acknowledged the candidates aren't Democrats, but the candidates falsely claimed they were in papers filed with the board and on their nomination papers. Levinson accused the candidates of committing election fraud. He called for the board to keep them off the ballot and open an investigation. "The fraudulent candidates...

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Unions are facing a make-or-break moment in their campaign to drive Wisconsin's Republican governor from office. "After devoting so much effort, energy and funds to the recall, unions have to show positive results or it will be judged to be a sign of a weakened labor movement," said Gary Chaison, professor at Clark University. The recall primary in Wisconsin is May 8, and the general election is June 5. Such massive, costly campaigns have taken a toll on unions, diverting resources they could have spent helping political allies or organizing new members. "Unions are not bottomless...

While Mitt Romney finally looks to have the Republican nomination within his grasp, the jockeying among the wannabes for the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket is only now ramping up. Some of those considered to be in the mix are playing it cool: South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida have said they don’t expect to be picked. Others, such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, pointedly say they would have to consider an offer if it’s made. “The wannabes would be wise to hang back, play it cool...“No one likes the over-eager beaver...

(CBS) The legal team for George Zimmerman is asking the public to withhold judgment about the fatal Trayvon Martin shooting pending a grand jury review of the case that begins next Tuesday. Pictures: Trayvon Martin shooting Attorney Craig Sonner told 'CBS This Morning' correspondent Anna Werner, "Everyone is jumping the gun, wait, everyone wait...and then let's see what happens." New Zimmerman lawyer Hal Uhrig told CBS News there's been too much emphasis on race in discussions surrounding the deadly Feb. 26 shooting in Sanford, Fla. "This is not a guy who has a racial bone in his body," Uhrig said....

AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND (CBS) — Catalina Island is known for many things… its picturesque scenery, seafood and hiking, to name a few. But what about high gas prices? For the past two weeks, gas prices on Catalina Island have been an average of $7 a gallon. Stacy Dizon, who works at the Santa Catalina Island Co.-owned gas station on Pebbly Road, tells CBSLA that a gallon of regular unleaded on Saturday is $7.03. The two young men had woefully little in common: one was a wealthy Mormon from Michigan, the other a middle-class Jew from Israel. But in 1976, the lives of Mitt Romney and Benjamin Netanyahu intersected, briefly but indelibly, in the 16th-floor offices of the Boston Consulting Group, where both had been recruited as corporate advisers. At the most formative time of their careers, they sized each other up during the firm's weekly brainstorming sessions, absorbing the same profoundly analytical view of the world. That shared experience decades ago led to a warm friendship, little known to outsiders, that is now...

Another FReeper, in another posted comment, just this week, stated that his Mormon neighbor was obsessed with getting a Mormon, Mitt Romney, elected President of the United States. That statement has "stuck in my craw" ever since I read it; which begs to question: If Mitt Romney is the GOP Nominee for POTUS, will the 14 million Mormons in the U.S. mobilize for him during the General Election? Hmmmmm....... Just wondering. The Mormon Church not only has a lot of "foot soldiers", but they know how to "mobilize". They've done it for decades. Do not underestimate RINO-Rom in the GE....

I so tire of hearing people say: "I'm not voting for him, but I think Obama's going to be reelected". They cite his prediction of raising a $1 Billion Campaign Warchest. But, that is not even a sure thing. His fundraising, as was recently reported, is lagging far behind what they expected to have at this juncture. In addition to that, here are some other reasons why Obama can lose in November: #1. The Black vote will be the same percentage, but not the same number. The new has worn off; the novelty is gone. And, many in the Black...
