My post was mostly tongue-in-cheek.
That said, I agree with all you say. Consider, though, that now he has provided the first piece of hard evidence. As I see it, here is a document that can be examined directly, and maybe, just maybe, is the major breakthrough.
Recall, Rather had nothing until the fake letter. The need to produce a document, to help or to hurt, is their undoing. Where did they get the pdf file? From Hawaii? or is it from the white house? It’s either or. So which is it?
But really the question is why release a controversial (fakey) document in the first place?
