ay, 19 Mar 2013, 1:18 AM EDT GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Controversial author and former pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville came out in support of marriage equality during a forum March 17 in San Francisco. During the forum at Grace Cathedral, an Episcopal church, Bell was asked about his position on gay marriage, and responded by saying, "I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for love, whether it's a man and woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man. I think the ship has sailed and I think the church...

There hasn't exactly been a lot of good news about the Penn State football program in recent months, and the program got a bit more on Saturday. There are multiple reports coming out of State College that quarterback Matt McGloin got into a fight with receiver Curtis Drake following practice on Saturday. A fight that ended with McGloin being knocked out cold. The details of what happened or what caused the fight are still sketchy at this point, but apparently there was a heated exchange during practice, and when Drake approached McGloin in the locker room after practice, things went...
  • Andrew Breitbart Steps Down From GOProud Board After it Outs Perry Advisor

It's not all that surprising that, in the wake of Rick Perry's much-maligned anti-gay ad the other day, the gay conservative group GOPRoud ended up at the center of the ensuing media storm, fielding requests from reporters left and right. Except it seems that the group's director and chairman (inadvertently, they claim) created a gay-bashing brouhaha of their own by letting slip the true sexual orientation of Tony Fabrizio, a top strategist on the governor's presidential campaign. In an e-mail to the rest of the board — acquired by the Daily Caller — GOProud leaders Chris Barron and Jimmy LaSavlia...
  • Joe Paterno's name off Big Ten trophy

In light of the child sex-abuse scandal at Penn State, Joe Paterno's name has been removed from the new Big Ten championship trophy, the conference announced Monday. The Big Ten said that the crisis at Penn State, which led to Paterno's firing as coach Wednesday night, prompted the decision to remove his name from the trophy. The new trophy, to be awarded Dec. 3 at the inaugural Big Ten football championship game at Indianapolis, had been named for both Paterno and former University of Chicago coach Amos Alonzo Stagg. It will now be known only as the Stagg Championship Trophy.
  • Hey Herman! The Sausage Goes On The Pizza! (Pro Cain opinion from Zo)

So the word is, a “conservative” source is bringing evidence against the supposed Hound Dog, Herman. Conservative? Really? There are people who are pro-abortion, pro-redifinition of marriage, pro-legalization of drugs, and pro-legalization of prostitution who call themselves conservatives. They call themselves conservatives just because they consider themselves capitalists. Capitalism is not the full scope of conservatism. These people more so line up with liberals than conservatives, but they want to redefine conservatism the same way they want to redefine everything else. So I chock this latest development up to dubiousness. People act like Herman Cain could have just held a...
  • VANITY: Anglers and fish experts: ID these fish

Ok fishing enthusiasts and experts! Help me ID these fish! They were having a good ol' time in my creek today. Never saw them before. There were 5, all surrounding a female, I suppose. These are good size fish! 2.5 to 3 feet, with the biggest over 3ft (assuming it was the female). I've seen and caught carp before, but these look way different.

PASADENA, Md., Sept. 21, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Katherine Cesinger, State Press Director, RickPerry.org, Inc., says, re: Governor Rick Perry's position on abortion: "His position has been consistent on this. Gov. Perry is pro-life, with exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother." In response, Michael Anthony Peroutka, co-founder with his brother Steve of  "Institute On The Constitution" (TheAmericanView.com), has issued the following statement: "Though it has been said numerous times that Gov. Perry is pro-life, he is not pro-life because being pro-life means being against all abortions with no exceptions. Unborn babies in the womb as a result...

It’s a freakingly obvious night and day difference — Perry’s MANDATE on families and the MANDATE on insurers going over the heads of the state legislature versus the Palin administration’s decision to accept federal subsidies to increase access to those who choose to take it. (Note: Gardasil is not and never has been mandated in the state of Alaska.) Preston also objects to indirect costs imposed by the Palin administration’s program on taxpayers outside the state. Newsflash: The Perry executive order would have ordered Texas health officials to use federal Medicaid funding to cover the vaccine for young women —...

Ugh. Let me repeat that. Ugh. Howard Eskin of WIP radio in Philly reports that the Eagles could sign quarterback Brett Favre as a backup to Mike Vick, after Kevin Kolb is shipped out of town. Sources told Eskin, who serves as a sideline reporter for the team’s radio broadcasts, that it’s “possible” the Eagles will sign Favre. The move would reunite Favre with Andy Reid, who was an assistant with the Packers before becoming a head coach in 1999.

Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Well, why not ask the woman who played in while prepping Joe Biden for the 2008 vice presidential debate? MIRS did ask Jennifer Granholm in our weekly podcast before the New Year. Her answer? "I don't think so." For more on that interview, you can listen here.

Tom Izzo will remain at Michigan State, spurning a reported 5-year, $30 million contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report by WILX in Lansing. The Spartans head basketball coach reportedly informed the MSU Board of Trustees of his intentions late this afternoon. Earlier today, the Detroit TV station, WDIV, had reported Izzo would make the announcement at 7 p.m. Tuesday, but backed off the statement, explaining that the press conference may not take place until Wednesday.

We’ve been reminded many times that elections have consequences. Yesterday we saw the consequence of voting for those who believe in “fundamentally transforming” America whether we want it or not. Yesterday they voted. In November, we get to vote. We won’t forget what we saw yesterday. Congress passed a bill while Americans said “no,” and thousands of everyday citizens even surrounded the Capital Building to beg them not to do it. Has there ever been a more obvious exhibition of a detached and imperious government? In the weeks to come, we can expect them to try to change the subject,...
