You ever get that feeling that no matter who you vote for, it's not going to matter? That no matter who you vote for, your job won't get any better, gas prices will still go up, and life will still be hard? Is it ever annoying to feel that no matter what grand promises are given by a politician, once in office, he or she may or may not do what they so grandiosely promised the voters? That is partially why I believe voting in Democratic elections is like playing Russian Roulette. But before I give an in depth analysis...
  • iBooks Author is cool, but will not save education

If you paid any attention to the rumblings in the technology industry this week, you would know that Apple released a piece of software that will supposedly revolutionize the educational industry. iBooks Author is the culmination of many years of internal developments at Apple. Modernizing education was, of course, the passion of Apple's late legendary leader, Steve Jobs, and was the project he most wanted to see come to light. Let me be clear, what Apple released Thursday, Jan. 19., is revolutionary. It will change many aspects of education within the United States and potentially worldwide. However, it will not...

Over the last week, stocks worldwide have plummeted due to the bancruptcy and bailout of Greece in the European Union. Other countries, such as Spain, also are going belly-up. America is even threatened by these developments. The question, however, is why is this happening? The New York Times recently recently stated in an article "Crisis Imperils Liberal Benefitcs Long Expected by Europeans" (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/23/world/europe/23europe.html) that the problem rests in large deficits combined with too many entitlements. This is one of the few times I actually agree with the New York Times. It's a simple matter of basic accounting. When a family...

Over two hundred years ago, a wise and aged man stood up in a contentious meeting (one which makes the recent health care debates pale in comparison), took command of the floor and chastened the men. Benjamin Franklin, on June 28, 1789, spoke to the crowd of delagates debating the Constitution: "I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth -- that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can...

It was just like any other day for me as a college student. I woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast and went to school. Today, however, was not destined to repeat the normal pattern. With about a little over an hour before my next class I decided to stop by the financial aid office as I was told the other day on the phone that that was the only way to cancel my school loan application. Every other time I had walked by that office, it seemed 30 or so people crammed themselves into a line to wait their turn...

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, in a cave or off the coast of some island, you’ve heard about the stimulus plan. What George W. Bush started, President Barack Obama is determined to finish. Think that is an insult to one or the other? That’s OK, because it is a slap to both. Bush should have known better than to start us down this treacherous road of bailing out the fiscally irresponsible. Obama should know better than to continue down a path that was full of potholes and dips. While Obama was running for his current office, we heard...

Regardless about how you feel about Pres. Barack Hussein Obama, his foray into the presidential waters is historic as he is the first half-black man to become president. As such, we should be glad that anyone can become president no matter their walk of life, but Obama's presidency is also historic in the sense that it seems, at least with what was implied during his inaugural speech, he is about to embark on a process over the next four plus years to radically change many government policies that have been held sacred and good for the last 50 plus years....

There is nothing like a close sports game to make your hands tense up, your heart start to pound, and adreneline start pumping through the veins. The lopsided victories are perhaps not as fun to watch, but there is still an excitement that comes from watching one's favorite team storm onto the field and play their hearts out. Often times during games, referees will make calls and decisions that have radical consequences on the outcome of the game. If the ruling is in favor of the home team, the fans will voicefully shout their pleasure at the greatness of the...

A friend of mine, who has been a life-long democrat, said that she is wavering with Obama. And she is uncertain about the Clinton's support of Obama. What follows, is my response to her. Wellllllll, the Clintons and Obama didn't exactly get along during the primaries...if you know what I mean. :) I don't think one 'raw-raw' party night would change their bruised feelings, esp. if she was never even considered for the veep slot...(you can put lipstick on a....yada yada yada)... It is kinda fun though from my perspective to be able to whole-heartedly root for the Clintons in...

In this climatic of times when fingers are pointing in every which way and the ability to know whom is trustworthy and whom is not is not easily attainable, words such as the "rich people don't 'deserve' their money" may sound tantalizingly good, but it is wrought with dangerous ramifications. When politicians say that the rich don't need the extra money, the response ought to be, "government doesn't need it either." Placing taxes on the uber-rich and the corporations will just transfer their wealth to the coffers of others in Washington D.C. The promise may be that the taxed amount...
  • Obama a community organizer?

I saw this on youtube.com and it made sense to me that Obama's community organizer days are reminiscent of Hitler, Mao and Lenin's early community organizer days. Those individuals then took those skills to organize a populace against the government. While I'm not sure Obama would rule exactly like those notorious individuals, his policies would propel America much closer to the Communistic or Socialistic ideal: government control of everything.

Bye, Bye, Biden... John Walker After being the media love-child for much of 19-months, Barack Obama has seen what may be his biggest setback of the campaign so far. Media outlets this week are releasing new polling numbers showing Obama’s campaign down between four and 10 points to Republican running mates John McCain and Sarah Palin. Obama is widely known as the one that beat presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a heated primary season that went down literally to the very last state. Since that time, Obama has worked to unify his party and ticket behind his message. Getting...
