Vonnegut at home. From “America This Week,” the free transcript of this week’s story discussion. This week, “Harrison Bergeron” by the great Kurt Vonnegut: Matt Taibbi: This week’s story is Harrison Bergeron, by Kurt Vonnegut, which has a lot of predictive power about a couple of things in modern society. Vonnegut was always one of my favorites. I liked him as a kid, among other things, because he was easy to read. The paragraphs were small and separated. He drew pictures that were funny. He openly didn’t take literature seriously. He had a great sense of humor, and the message...

As a physician I was told by the hospital there was a 90 minute meeting that was REQUIRED I needed to put on my schedule. Turns out it was a “seminar” of sorts. A guest speaker was brought in who was a consultant in communications. The reason (announced in advance) was the guest speaker was a being brought in as part of a campaign to “change the business model” of the hospital. Seems the “businessmen” realized the organization was suffering “from a lack of input by the physicians (insightful, eh?). There wanted to transform the model to include physicians in...
  • Epstein’s Death Wasn’t The First Time The Feds Told An Unlikely Prisoner ‘Suicide' Story

Last January, Tucker Carlson featured a segment that challenged the theory that Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide. He was not alone. Many doubt the official narrative. What the doubters don’t realize is how the press used the cover-up of a 1995 brutal prison homicide to facilitate the cover-up of Epstein’s (very likely) homicide. On August 21, 1995, Kenneth Michael Trentadue was found dead in his allegedly suicide-proof cell at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City. Pieces of his skull were missing in three different places. There were deep bruises underneath his arms, including bruises shaped like a person’s fingertips running...

On 3 April, two weeks after the study was first published online, the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, which publishes the IJAA, said in a statement that the group’s board “believes the article does not meet the Society’s expected standard, especially relating to the lack of better explanations of the inclusion criteria and the triage of patients to ensure patient safety”.

How may virus particles (visions) does it take to start an infection? I don’t think anyone knows for sure but over the decades, at times like this, one ponders these things. My thoughts go along these lines, some things are known, much not. A lot of information is “proprietary”. If one viral particle (virion) is inhaled and lands on a nasal epithelium cell, on a specific receptor, it can...

Radio reporting Gillespie going to throw in towel. Do we know which precinct in Fairfax turned in the final votes that put Warner over the top? Seems pretty suspicious, when Gillespie was ahead right up to that point, then Fairfax turns in just enough for a Warner "win".

Well, I will do it if no one else will. Beck is imploring us to drop the hate and anger. First, I don't believe it was anger in my heart that made me want to rush to Bundy's side upon learning SWAT teams were terrorizing him and his family. I do believe it was love for my grandchildren and their posterity than made me consider putting my life on the line. I do believe that nonviolence requires several things to work. Ghandi knew his "audience" was the folks back in England who would find violence against him and his abhorrent....

O.K. fellow freepers. I heard this guy the other day and I have to tell you he is making a point that I have NEVER heard and it ain't like I haven't been paying attention. I suppose this really should be a sort of "vanity" but I think the point he is making is terribly important. Along the lines of what Beck is trying to say about having a discussion. If the Progressives want to change America let's have the discussion in the OPEN and let folks choose between the values of the Progressives vs. the Founders.

O.K. This qualifies as a Vanity, I guess. I haven't done one in years, though, so please humor me. [p]I am a Federal Healthcare Employee who is also a Union Official. I recently was informed that a directive has been sent down from MEDCOM that we were to begin "Implementation and Impact" meetings with management about a NON-NEGOTIABLE requirement to add postions to the "Testing Designated Positions" list as provided by AR 600-85. [p]A little research reveals that AR 600-85 limits designating "Testing Designated Positions" to positions that meet defined criteria. Employees that carry firearms, operate vehicles over 26,000 lbs....

Well, we had about 25-30 this weekend. I was really hoping we would have even more than last week, when we had 150-200. I don't know what was different, if people felt wrung out, or felt confident or what. We had lots and lots of folks honk and "W" and "thumbs up". I only saw 4 or 5 Gorons show us their IQ. I heard before I got there a lady stopped and got out of her car and was swearing at two little kids (I saw them 3-4 year olds). And they claim to be so concerned for the ...
