An appeals court added Colorado to the list of states that can allow criminal suspects to search victims' homes to bolster their defense - a move that raised concerns among prosecutors and victims' advocates. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Friday demanded that the Obama administration answer whether it has protected a known gang member from being deported — a man who this week was charged with murder. Grassley wrote a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson noting that press reports say Emmanuel Jesus Rangel-Hernandez has been charged with murdering four people in North Carolina. A member of the House Republican leadership introduced a bill Thursday to bar the Internal Revenue Service from seeking to collect the gift tax on any contribution to a nonprofit organization, report ABC News and The Washington Times. A California couple, married 67 years, died hours apart while holding hands this month, their daughter said on Thursday. Floyd Hartwig, 90, and wife Violet, 89, died on Feb. 11 in their home in Easton, California, outside Fresno, their family said.
