IN the blink of an eye, India has gone from faith, prudence and chastity to ... Brittany, Courtney and Tiffani. On Sunday, a team of Washington Redskins cheerleaders landed in Bangalore to help create India’s first cheerleading squad. According to the Redskins’ Web site, the cheerleaders will “conduct a national audition of Indian women.” The aim of the exercise is to set up a squad of indigenous pompom wielders for the Bangalore Royal Challengers, one of eight teams that will play in the Indian Premier League, a rich new Indian cricket league. “Cheerleading is a unique American spirit and the...

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins are looking for a few good men. Specifically, very large men. The team is hosting auditions for baseball's first all-male, all-obese cheerleading squad: the Manatees. Organizers said they want "big bellies with the biggest jiggle, big feet with the best dance moves and enthusiasm that will rock Marlins fans out of their seats." The guys will perform at Friday and Saturday home games this season. No experience is necessary. But don't expect to get paid either. The seven to ten men who are drafted will only get tickets to games.

Six of eight Ripon High School cheerleaders were suspended from school for two days over a cheer performed at a football game. The girls danced to a Britney Spears song and lifted their skirts at the end to spell out the school's nickname, Indians. Superintendent Leo Zuber said he couldn't discuss the issue because of confidentiality requirements on disciplinary matters. Parents can appeal suspensions, and Zuber acknowledged he has received one. He said he will investigate whether proper procedures were followed and whether suspensions were warranted. Bee staff writer Inga Miller contributed to this report.

Your rival. Your undereducated, cousin marrying disgusting scoundrel of a rival. Oh, sure you may say nice, cordial things to one another but let’s face it: you are fairly certain that the fan of your rival school I just mentioned is enriching uranium for Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Heck, for the sheer entertainment of it, he may kick puppies down the street and may have gotten saliva on either his SAT, ACT, or ASVAB exams in high school. Some of you got your hostilities out of the way early (Louisville/Kentucky). Even more of you like to Git R Done during...

Cheerleaders who flaunt their wares in front of visiting teams will be banned by the NFL, a news report indicated on Monday. The problem has become cataclysmic. The NFL has sent a memo out to all major league teams, according to CBS NFL analyst Charlie Casserly. Basically, home teams are not permitted to tell their cheerleaders to warm up, stretch, or otherwise do anything in front of the visiting team's bench that might distract the players before the game.

FORT HUACHUCA — The 11th Signal Brigade got a taste of football fever last Friday when four of the Kansas City Chiefs cheerleaders visited them. Prior to coming to the brigade area, the cheerleaders went out to the 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion field exercise-training site. While out there, the unit showed the cheerleaders their signal capabilities and what soldiers do on a daily basis. The cheerleaders also had the opportunity to try on some of the soldiers tactical gear. “I could not believe how heavy the gear is!” said Ashley, who is in her second year with the Kansas City...

Chris and the Ladies from St Henry High SchoolImagine this scenario:1. It is the last night of your two week leave back in the real world (USA). 2. Your 2 week leave follows 7 months in one of the worst parts of Iraq. 3. Tomorrow, you fly from Indianapolis to Atlanta. There you will board a military charter back to four more months in Iraq. 4. While in your hotel room, waiting on tomorrow to come, your phone rings. Your buddy in Florida is calling to tell you that all units, currently in Iraq, are being extended another three months. ...

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - Deployed life, though full of many new experiences, is not usually something people would envy you for. The exception to this would be the friends and co-workers of Senior Airman Brandon M. Smith, who was forced to endure two weeks with eight of the most beautiful women to wear Kevlar. Smith, a 28-year-old from Harrah, Okla., escorted Washington Redskins cheerleaders and their crew to forward operating bases and airfields in Afghanistan from Feb. 20 to March 3. Deployed from 56th Services Squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., Brandon landed the job as Morale, Welfare and...

High school cheerleaders must now cheer for girls' teams as often as for boys' teams thanks to federal education officials' interpretations of Title IX, the civil rights law that mandates equal playing fields for both sexes. According to The New York Times, almost no one directly involved wants this -- not the cheerleaders, not the fans, not the boys' teams, and not even the girls' teams. But it doesn't matter: The law coerces cheerleaders to cheer at girls' games. Of all the myths that surround Left-Right differences, one of the greatest is that the Left values liberty more than the...

For all you loony couch conservatives, the General Election is not the time to sit home and cry over not having a choice. If you sit home and the Rats gain the majority in either House, blame yourself. I know I will. A Republican Rino is still better than a Rat. It gives the Republicans majority status. With that status, we control committees and keep the Rats from starting multitudes of witch-hunting investigations and impeachment procedures. Nothing may get done with or without the RINOs, but its better than having the Rats in control. If you don't like the RINOs...

WORTHINGTON, Ohio Aug 24, 2006 (AP)— Someone shot at a carload of teenage girls, critically wounding one of them, after some of them had stepped near a house that had been rumored by fellow students to be haunted, police said. A man who lives in the house, Allen S. Davis, was arrested Wednesday in the shooting of 17-year-old Rachel Barezinsky the night before. He told reporters Wednesday from jail that he was trying to drive off trespassers and didn't intend to hurt the girls. Barezinsky remained in critical condition Thursday at Ohio State University Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said....

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian conservatives have called on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to reverse his decision to let women into sports stadiums, saying it was against Islamic values, newspapers reported on Thursday. Ahmadinejad promised a return to the values of the 1979 Islamic revolution when he was elected last year, prompting many in the establishment to expect rigorous enforcement of Islamic dress and other social codes. But he has been more moderate on social issues than many expected, including saying dress codes should not be imposed by force and, this week, that women should be allowed into sports stadiums for the...
