  • Drunk Cowboys Arrested for Riding Horse and Donkey Down 6th Street

Austin, TX - Two men charged with driving while intoxicated had their charges reduced to public intoxication after police arrested them for riding a horse and donkey down 6th Street. Jose Rios, 33, and Samuel Olivo Jr., 48, were caught riding a horse and donkey in the 300 block of E. 6th Street while intoxicated. The two were coaxing people on the street to come, take pictures and pet their horse and donkey. Officers say the two were impeding traffic and could have caused an accident.

Tony Romo may not be making many headlines on the field this season, but that isn't stopping him from making news off of it. The Cowboys QB got engaged to his girlfriend Candice Crawford earlier tonight, according to KDAF-TV in Dallas. The couple was reportedly celebrating Crawford's 24th birthday with her family at Five Sixty at the time of the proposal. Crawford, 2008's Miss Missouri, is an anchor for KDAF-TV.

A few years ago, the subject of Don Meredith came up on The Ticket - I don’t remember why - and Mike Rhyner spent the better part of an hour, maybe more talking about Dandy Don, his tenure here with the Cowboys, and his eventual departure. Being a Cowboys fan since I was old enough to have a cheap plastic way too big Cowboys helmet bounce around on my head and rest on my shoulders, I was fascinated by what Rhynes had to say. I remember Mr. Meredith as an announcer, but not as a player. I kinda knew the...

Don Meredith, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback who served as a folksy foil for Howard Cosell on ABC's ''Monday Night Football'' and helped carve out the niche for colorful ex-athlete broadcasters, has died. ''Dandy Don,'' as he was known, was 72. Meredith's wife, Susan, told The Associated Press her husband died Sunday in Santa Fe after suffering a brain hemorrhage and lapsing into a coma. She and her daughter were at Meredith's side when he died. ''He was the best there was,'' she said Monday, describing him as kind, warm and funny. ''We lost a good one.''

These are heady times for schadenfreude buffs. People who take delight in the misfortunes of others, and particularly those who love to see the high and mighty taken down a peg or two, are having a field day. Barack Obama just got his head handed to him in the midterm elections. Nancy Pelosi has been knocked from her perch. The Democratic party has taken more hits than Humpty Dumpty. If you're the kind of person who likes to see the tall poppies cut down to size, this is your year. This is not only true in the field of politics....

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly done this week what everyone expected them to do: Fire Wade Phillips. Bill Jones of CBS-11 in Dallas reports the Cowboys head coach was fired on Monday after his team suffered a humiliating 45-7 loss to the Packers on Sunday Night Football. This move was expected by many as multiple reports surfaced following the game that Phillips was unlikely to make it through the week. Phillips' certainly deserved this fate after the Cowboys started the season 1-7.

Life has been so busy lately with family, church, working on my website, that I have barely taken time to notice how terrible the Dallas Cowboys are doing this year. I have yet to watch one game because I know they are losing and I hate to watch them lose. I don't have time to invest in a losing team. That could be why I have not been interested in the Texas Rangers. While growing up in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, I remember the Dallas Cowboys winning more games than they lost. I remember the excitement. I remember the Cowboys...

HOUSTON -- Jerry Jones can exhale, at least for now. So can Wade Phillips. Tony Romo threw two touchdown passes to Roy E. Williams, Marion Barber ran for another score, and the Dallas Cowboys got their first win by beating the Houston Texans 27-13 on Sunday. The Cowboys' defense got its first three takeaways of the season and held Houston's top-ranked offense to 340 yards. DeMarcus Ware sacked Matt Schaub three times, and the Dallas secondary limited All-Pro receiver Andre Johnson to four catches for 64 yards. Romo went 23 for 30 for 284 yards, Williams caught five passes for...

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Jay Cutler can't lose. Tony Romo can't win. What a surprise for both the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys. Cutler threw three touchdown passes and Romo wasn't able to respond, lifting the Chicago Bears to a 27-20 victory Sunday. The Bears come away 2-0 for the first time since their Super Bowl season in 2006. Dallas fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2001, when Quincy Carter took over for the retired Troy Aikman at quarterback. Cowboys loyalists will remember the 1993 season starting 0-2 and ending with a Super Bowl championship, but that club got...

LANDOVER, Md. – Sometimes 60 minutes of football comes down to one terrible decision by the offensive coordinator. Sometimes one chorus of "Hail to the Redskins" after a touchdown is all that it takes. The Cowboys gave the Washington Redskins seven points on the last play of the first half, and in a game in which both offenses were supremely challenged, that was the difference. Dallas was a 13-7 loser at FedEx Field on a night when, well, you can't say the Cowboys deserved to win, but they certainly weren't destined to lose. Not until one ridiculous call, anyway. In...

We're rolling with the Cowboys on their way to San Diego. Its an old school trip aboard an Amtrak train. The media is along for the ride as the team heads south from their training camp home in Oxnard to face the Chargers in preseason game number three. I haven't been on a train trip since I was 5 and have to say its not nearly as bad as I initially thought it would be. The ride is smoother than you could ever expect, and really is stress free. We're told the trip takes about four hours, and the only...

Three strangers strike up a conversation in the passenger lounge in the Bozeman , Montana airport, while waiting for their respective flights.. One is an American Indian passing through from Lame Deer, another is a Cowboy on his way to Billings for a livestock show, and the third passenger is a fundamentalist Arab student, newly arrived at Montana State University from the Middle East .... Their discussion drifts to their diverse cultures. Soon, the two Westerners learn that the Arab is a devout, radical Muslim and the conversation falls into an uneasy lull. The cowboy leans back in his chair,...

Mothers, don't let your babies grow up to bogusly claim they were Cowboys. I got a call yesterday from Michael Vaughn, the Maryland delegate from Prince George's County whose official campaign bio boasted that he "played professional football for the Dallas Cowboys for 3 years” when he actually hadn't played even a single play for the Cowboys or any other NFL team.

But Kim Kardashian took the step last night when she stepped out with her American footballer boyfriend Miles Austin for the first time. Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Leonard Davis saved a different type of birdie during the Dallas Cowboys annual Sponsor Appreciation Golf Tournament Wednesday. Davis, ever an animal-loving gentle giant, came to the rescue of nearly a dozen baby ducks stranded in a sand bunker on the 11th Hole. Davis walked into the bunker and picked up the baby ducks one-by-one and placed them gingerly on the fairway. Quickly, the little ducks scurried back to their mother -- who previously, and very quickly, had left the sand trap as the 6 foot 6 inch, 360-pound lineman approached. This wasn’t the first time...

The clock is ticking as Irving officials finalize plans to implode the former home of the Dallas Cowboys on April 11. The holes for the dynamite are being drilled, columns are being wrapped in fabric, and any spot inside or outside the stadium gives a clear view through the now-hollow structure. In a matter of days the stadium will be closed off to outsiders, and police will begin round-the-clock patrols. But Tuesday, city officials gave North Texas media one last look inside before the structure comes down at dawn April 11. Contractors worked Tuesday to finalize all preparations for the...

First, the Dallas Cowboys' Web site said that they were going to keep Wade Phillips. Then the team said that wasn't official yet. At the end of the day, though, Phillips is still the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys.Wade Phillips' contract option was picked up and Jerry Jones added two more years to the deal.Phillips is 33-15 in three years with Dallas and has a major playoff win over the division rival Philadelphia Eagles. He has taken this team's defense to second overall in the entire NFL. Seven Cowboys are going to the Pro Bowl this year. More can come...
