CHICAGO - President-elect Joe Biden is considering former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a substantial and somewhat divisive figure in Democratic Party politics, to serve as his transportation secretary. Biden’s selection of his nominee to lead the Transportation Department is not believed to be imminent, and Emanuel is among multiple candidates in the running for the Cabinet position, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private deliberations. But his candidacy threatens to pull at the divisions among Democrats that Biden has largely managed to avoid as he begins to fill out...

She was standing on a rental car doing a little dance outside The Breakers when the state trooper rolled up. The 30-year-old opera singer from Connecticut jumped down and got into the black Jeep and ignored the Florida Highway Patrol officer’s motions to roll down her window. Minutes later, Secret Service agent and Palm Beach County deputies opened fire on Hannah Roemhild after she plowed through two security barricades near President Trump’s Mar-a-Largo estate. Authorities said Friday they had no reason to believe the chase through Palm Beach was an act of terrorism, but perhaps a case of impairment before...

America has voted. And the winner is … Donald Trump. I’m not referring to the 2020 presidential election (not yet), but to the 28th and weirdest, wackiest season of the popular ABC-TV reality contest, “Dancing With the Stars.’’ On Monday night, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, a man bearing two left feet, a prodigious belly and a slew of insane outfits, stumbled his way into surviving Week 8. He goofily edged ever closer to the winner’s circle, despite the judges’ fervent efforts to boogie him into disgrace.

More boys are dreaming of becoming dancers than firefighters or policemen, as reality shows such as Britain’s Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing trigger a cultural shift. A survey found dancing was the third most popular career choice of boys aged between two and 12—just behind doctor in first place and footballers in second. More boys—8 percent—want to be dancers than girls—5 percent. Some 7 percent of girls would rather be a footballer than pursue a more traditional female career, such as a nursing. The research by Mothercare and Save the Children shows the impression left on the kids of...

He's 24, but she is older than his mother. He’s a strict Muslim, she has fervent Kabbalah beliefs. So it was hardly likely to last. Last night a close friend of Zaibat’s said sarcastically: ‘Who’s Madonna?’ The friend added: ‘Brahim has been home and he’s a single guy

HAMILTON — An exotic dancer who pleaded guilty to striking a customer with her vehicle and dragging him to death was sentenced to 10 years in prison this afternoon in Butler County Common Pleas Court. Kristina Hensley, 35, of Higginsport, was given the maximum sentence by Judge Keith Spaeth at a 1:30 p.m. hearing. Supporters of Jae Cho, the 31-year-old Monroe man killed by Hensley, applauded the judge’s ruling. Pam Birch, Hensley’s mother, began wailing as her daughter broke out in tears and doubled over. Spaeth called the autopsy photos and the autophy report detailing how Cho died, “ghastly.” The...

As an exotic dancer at Hott 22 in Union, Linda Kay's persona was that of a dark and ghoulish Goth girl. In real life, police say, her interest in the macabre was more than just an act. Officers responding to a report of a suicidal individual at Kay's South Plainfield home discovered a severed hand in a glass mason jar of formaldehyde and six skulls -- all human, according to the Middlesex County medical examiner. Kay, 31, was arrested and charged with improper disposition of human remains. She has so far refused to tell police where or how she obtained...

The motion also says the alleged victim told Durham police that she had performed for a couple at a Raleigh hotel hours before the Duke lacrosse party. She told police that she used a vibrator. John Lennon once wrote that "All you need is love." If that's the case, former presidential candidate Al Gore is a happy man. He is in the middle of a media lovefest celebrating his work, his career - even his efforts as actor, author, dancer and comedian. The former vice president has both a movie and a book about global warming debuting under the title "An Inconvenient Truth." He has gone from media darling to "the summer's most unlikely movie star," as NBC's Katie Couric called him in a May 24 interview. Gore, who Couric also called "funny, vulnerable, disarming,...

<p>At first, a stripper who performed at a Duke University lacrosse team party doubted the story of a colleague who told police she was dragged into a bathroom and raped.</p>
<p>Now, Kim Roberts isn't so sure.</p>
<p>"I was not in the bathroom when it happened, so I can't say a rape occurred - and I never will," Roberts told The Associated Press Thursday in her first on-the-record interview. But after watching defense attorneys release photos of the accuser, and upset by the leaking of both dancers' criminal pasts, she said she has to "wonder about their character."</p>
