Well, your ollll' marty was recently diagnosed with early stage Type II Diabeetus. Doc prescribed pills that sound like some Yankee RINO's name: "Metformin." I'm doing all the Intarweb research that I can on the topic but I'd like to hear FReepers' personal takes on what to look for in a blood glucose monitor. I figure if I'm going to be using this monitor for awhile it should be a good one. The one the Doc suggested -- that my insurance would most readily pay for -- doesn't get good reviews at all ("wildly inaccurate readings"). Your input please!
  • Some spooky things are happening at serial killer Ted Bundy’s childhood home

Unexplainable things happened in the Tacoma house where serial killer Ted Bundy grew up. So many things, in fact, that a contractor hired to remodel the home penciled Bible scriptures on the walls and brought in two pastors to bless the house. “I’m not one to believe a lot of this stuff, but this house made me a believer,” said Casey Clopton, the contractor. A cry for help appeared on a window as crew members worked in the basement. Heavy furniture wedged into a wall toppled over. Doors and cabinets seemed to open themselves. It all started in September, when...

There are many moderators, with different kinds of secret knowledge. Anything you might say about them (including this) will be false for some of the Moderators, but true for others, which only adds to the confusion and mystery. The Moderators infiltrate and take over cliques of all kinds, from drug warriors to libertarians to chatters, and turn them to their own ends. And, just as a black joke, some of their secret cliques advertise themselves as Secret Cliques. They have agents and "sleepers" planted everywhere. Many of these people have no idea who they are really reporting to. Others are...
  • Easter Egg Hunt at Seattle Zoo Turns Violent

One of usually peaceful springtime rituals of childhood — the Easter egg hunt — turned nasty at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Blame the moms. A statement on the Seattle Police Department blotter Monday says the "hard-boiled tale" began Sunday afternoon, "when one woman reportedly pushed a child aside as her own child was scrambling toward some brightly colored eggs."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Tidal forces parallel to a segment of the San Andreas Fault in central California may be causing non-volcanic tremors that could help predict earthquakes, researchers said on Wednesday. Low-level tremors have long been associated with volcanoes, because they often warn of impending eruptions. A study published in the journal Nature says these tremors beneath the San Andreas Fault could provide similar clues about earthquakes. The researchers say the faint tug of the sun and the moon on the fault causes tremors well below the level where earthquakes occur. The finding suggests that rock far underground is lubricated...

Iowa City police are investigating an early morning assault in which a man accused another of being a zombie, then punched him twice. Police said the assault occurred at 1:17 a.m. Sunday at an Iowa City restaurant south of the University of Iowa campus. A man was ordering food when he was approached by another man who called him a zombie, then hit him in the eye. When the victim tried to call police on his cell phone, the man punched him again, breaking his nose. The man then ran out a back door. The victim was taken by ambulance...

So, my daughter thinks she lost her favorite D.S. games in the back of the car. It either went behind the seat, or down that little hole where the seatbelts come out of. Is there a way I can get it back short of shoving my hands down blindly in there?
