Can't make it out for a Whopper? Burger King just might bring it to you. The fast-food chain has begun delivering to homes in Washington, D.C., USA Today reports. If the test goes well, the King may expand the service to other cities. Home delivery has always been a challenge for the food and beverage business. Pizza restaurants obviously have found success, but burgers and fries don't hold up quite as well in transit. They also lose some appeal in the microwave. Finally, the size of a fast-food order isn't normally large enough to justify the expense of delivery. So...

Trying to stay away from the 72 per cent relative humidity that had contributed to a blisteringly uncomfortable day in Washington on Friday, a half dozen employees of a hole-in-the-wall pizzeria were getting ready for another busy night in Capitol Hill. Four blocs away, Senate Democrats were about to kill a House-passed debt limit increase bill less than two hours after it squeaked through the House. If agreement is not reached on raising the debt limit by Tuesday, the US risks a potentially catastrophic debt default. To meet the deadline, America's elected representatives and their staffs have been working through...

Does anyone have any knowledge of what the thinking at netflix is, in regards to USPS's losses, their threat to cut Saturday feliveries, and possible postage tate hiles? Is Netflix taking this as a wake-up call to start hot footing their efforts to move more of their content onto their online 'Watch Instantly' libraries, and away from their DVD delivery service? IMO they really need to develop this method with all due speed. And not just because I prefer my content from online, but because it may soon be their best, if not only option that they can reasonably profit...

WASHINGTON — As federal regulators consider a proposal to cut most Saturday postal deliveries, the business community is sharply divided about the consequences of switching to five-day service. Some, like Donald J. Hall Jr., chief executive of Hallmark Cards, said that eliminating Saturday delivery and raising prices even incrementally would drive more business away from the United States Postal Service, resulting in a “slippery slope.” But others, like Andrew Rendich, the chief service and DVD operations officer at Netflix, said five-day delivery would be a better alternative to significantly higher postal rates. “Big rate increases will absolutely squash business and...

"It just really hit me today what happened," she said today. She said a man in a brown UPS uniform came to her door around 7:30 a.m. while she...

What if your UPS overnight delivery doesn't come overnight?A small item was shipped UPS overnight to me in Tennessee from Idaho on Tuesday, November 28, 2006. I needed to take it with me on a flight to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Friday morning, December 1st.The problem is when a critical item disappears, the UPS web site can...
