By SARAH TULLY / The Orange County Register Public figures usually go to Disneyland when they win. Not Mitt Romney. Just two weeks after losing the election, the once presidential hopeful visited the Happiest Place on Earth in Anaheim, according to reports on social media. Suzi Brown, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, declined to confirm that Romney was at the parks. Disney has a policy against revealing visitors' identities. Twitter users posted messages all day Tuesday about Romney sightings, sometimes with a political or humorous bent. One used the hashtag #TooDressedUpToHaveFun. “Mitt Romney is at Disneyland. I'd do the same thing...

As wild as the ride might be, witnesses to the fight — involving the man, patrons, security, two bellhops — got their own wild ride Saturday just after 3:30 p.m. It is not known what led to the wild melee. But at the start of the video, onlookers have already clearly had their fill of the agitated man. One woman repeatedly screams at the 50-something man, “Do you know you’re at Disneyland? There are kids here! Stop! There are kids here. Does this guy not get that?”

The fireworks at Disneyland had ended. It was past closing time and the crowds were pouring out the gates, but we lingered. Layla Alshawi, the 63-year-old mother of our friends, didn't want to leave. She hugged a light pole, joking that we would have to drag her out. We'd spent three days at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim with my friend, Saif Alnasseri, his wife, mother and 5-year-old daughter. Like my husband, whose name is also Saif, he was an Iraqi translator I met in 2007 during my rotations in the Los Angeles Times' Baghdad bureau. A little over three...

Tonight, my wife and I attended the Candlelight Processional at Disneyland, a yearly tradition at the park that dates back to the days when Walt was still with us. Choirs from around Southern California participated, and the host was Gary Sinise. It is frustrating for my wife and I sometimes when we go to the park. The generic 'happy holidays' or 'come celebrate the holidays' or 'Believe in the magic of the holidays' are the typical Disney themes presented to guests. In fact, while we were standing in line to get seats, the nightly tree lighting happened, where the crowd...

Disney intern Noor Abdallah, 22, has a new specially-designed costumed that incorporates the head-covering she wears as a part of her Muslim faith, according to the AP. Abdallah had been working as a vacation planner for the Disneyland resort, but took a job in the stockroom when her head scarf, or hijab, became an issue. "Vacation planners are costumed employees, whose outfits include an optional baseball-style cap," explains the LA Times. A group intervened on behalf of the intern when they learned of her job re-assignment. Disney agreed to design a special costume for Abdallah, but said it would take...

The Disneyland restaurant hostess, who wants to wear her Muslim headscarf on the job after having worked at Disneyland for two years (presumably without her scarf) appears to have gained her citizenship two months ago in order to raise the profile of Muslims in the America. ...I hope Disney sticks to its guns. It’s interesting to note that apparently simultaneously with the raising of the scarf question at Disney, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), as stated in the Register, announced that they would be representing the hostess in her disagreement with Disney. If there is any question in anyone’s mind...

A Muslim woman who works as a hostess at a restaurant in Disneyland has filed a discrimination complaint against the world-renowned California theme park, saying officials at the park violated the law when they told her she could not appear in front of customers while wearing a religious head scarf. Imane Boudlal, 26, of Anaheim, Calif., has filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, claiming Disneyland violated her rights when it ordered her either to remove her hijab or agree to work where customers couldn't see her at Storyteller's Café at the resort's Grand Californian Hotel &...

ANAHEIM, Calif. – A Muslim woman who works as a hostess at a Disneyland restaurant alleged Wednesday the theme park would not allow her to appear in front of customers while wearing her head scarf. Imane Boudlal, 26, appeared outside the resort's Grand Californian Hotel after filing a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She said when she wore the hijab to work Sunday, her supervisors told her to remove it, work where customers couldn't see her, or go home. Boudlal, who wore the scarf in observance of Ramadan, chose to go home but reported to work for...

Swedish parliament rules providing for expenses paid educational trips up to a value of 50,000 kronor ($7,000) per annum have prompted three Social Democrat MPs to use the system to 'study tourism' at California's Disneyland. In general, regulations for how MPs can dispose of their allotted funds have been interpreted generously, a review by the Expressen tabloid has shown. Other approved excursions have included a trip to the Faroe islands to experience "how it is to live on an island in the middle of the Atlantic", ten days in Canada to "study the situation of youth in a broader perspective",...

... [M]eet Umar Abdulmutallab’s lawyer, Miriam Siefer, whose salary you are paying. They also plotted to blow up hotels and casinos in Las Vegas and planned to detonate in Disneyland. So the family takes a vacation this week to Disney (no escaping it for me) and one of the highlights is the "Alladin" stage production. really pretty cool. At one point, just after Jafar (the bad guy) captures the magic lamp, Genie says: "Hey, Jafar, why are you so angry looking? Why the long face? I mean, I just made you Sultan, and you didn't even earn it!... What do you want next, a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE?"The place erupted. The crowd definitely "got it" and we were laughing so hard (this is what, 2000 people?) that they delayed the next...

Iowa at Disney encouraging gays to move to Hawkeye State October 2nd, 2009 by Eric Carpenter Figuring that plenty of gay couples in California are frustrated by the inability to get legally married here, representatives from Iowa have set up a booth at Gay Days at the Disneyland Resort encouraging them to consider moving to the Hawkeye State. Iowa is one of four states nationwide that allow gay marriages. That state’s Supreme Court made the decision earlier this year. Two representatives for three regional visitors bureaus flew out for the three-day Gay Days, when 30,000 partipants roll into town to...

The American university is the anti-Disneyland, the saddest place on Earth. Today's colleges can make MSNBC seem fair and balanced and give the term "clinical depression" a sunny and joyful flavor. It's no wonder so many prominent liberal intellectuals are angry, begrudging, and gloomy. They imbibe four to ten years of it during their college studies. And their brethren in the media give them a consistent platform for their gloom. A few years ago, the Washington Post discovered that over 72 percent of college professors classify themselves as liberal. The study showed that the most left-leaning departments are in the...

I recently received an email from a listener looking for answers… James, I read the following Newsweek article http://www.newsweek.com/id/214989 and was wondering if you thought being a racist was a choice?
