It's strange that many people don't consider television shows, films, and video games to be "art" because of their violent and provocative content. But, have you ever looked at some of the most famous classical paintings? Some of the most famous paintings of the old world are downright vulgar. Nudity and disturbing images of violence such as deities eating babies whole, women having sex with animals, and even beheadings plaster the walls of art museums everywhere. Not only that, but these paintings are nearly priceless. People view them sipping on wine and possibly even adjusting their monocles. When you really...

When Jack Kevorkian came to the nation’s attention in the 1990s, reporters at first depicted him — correctly — as a macabre and megalomaniacal promoter of death. But he was remade into a popular icon, becoming a pet guest on 60 Minutes, treated to uncharacteristically softball interviews by Mike Wallace and fawned over by Andy Rooney, and then declared by Time magazine to be one of the major “celebrities” of the 1990s. Time even invited him to their 75th anniversary gala as a star guest. You knew the world was spinning the wrong way when Tom Cruise rushed up

Make sure you give the video a thumbs up, so that it gets more visibility, therefore, the unhinged alarmists cannot hide what they have done! This ridiculous, disgusting movie, in which activists of the 10:10 climate change campaign fantasize about blowing up dissenters, was uploaded and recently self censored, set to private, after they realized how unhinged and insane it makes them look. (http://tinyurl.com/2wg52bt) Comrade Morshu (http://tinyurl.com/265bjca) has re-uploaded it, and asks that you do the same. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer wants the federal government to spend more on border security -- at least more than it does on Mexico. The Republican governor is slamming Washington for committing more than double the amount of funding next year to Mexico than it does to National Guard along the U.S. side of the southern border. "They're giving more money to Mexico," Brewer said after meeting with administration officials Monday, calling the disparity "very, very disturbing."

One of Steele's rivals for the RNC chairmanship took Steele to task Monday for attributing his problems to race. Kenneth Blackwell, a former Ohio secretary of state who ran against Michael Steele for RNC chairman, said Steele's argument that he has a "smaller margin of error" beacuse he's black is "ridiculous." "This notion that this disturbing pattern of gaffes and missteps is now being criticized solely because he is black, and that Barack Obama is being criticized for his big-government power grab solely because he is black — that is nonsense," Blackwell told Fox News's Neil Cavuto. "And here's a...

Child actress Dakota Fanning is set to shock fans in new movie 'Hounddog.' The film features Dakota semi-nude in child rape scenes. The controversial film written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier is a dark and violent story set in American's rural south and the 12-year-old's mother and agent are convinced her gritty performance is Oscar-worthy. Agent Joy Osbrink was quoted in the New York Daily News, "It's not just the rape scene the whole story is challenging Dakota as an actress. And I've never been so proud of her in my life. I've seen the dailies, and in every scene...

I wanted to consider the idea of music to help us remember the horror of this time last year when Terri Schiavo died in a cruel and horrible way. Some of these songs were mentioned by other FReepers in the threads I read last year (I hadn't joined yet). So I make my contributions in the order I placed them on my tape (I use ancient technology). Terri's death was followed by the passing of Pope John Paul II and in some ways I combined the music to also remember his life and ministry. So here is the list: 1....

(Allegan, March 25, 2006, 6:00 p.m.) By Brad Edwards There's an egregious report of child sexual abuse out of Allegan County. A manmade ingredient of many plastics, cosmetics and other consumer products may be interfering with prenatal male sexual development, new research suggests. A study of 85 infant boys found a correlation between increased exposure to some forms of the chemical phthalate and smaller penis size and incomplete testicular descent. It is the first time phthalate has been shown to influence the sexual development of human males. "This is clearly something that needs to be examined in a larger sample," said Shanna Swan, a professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry who headed the study. A paper...

After a San Jose police officer pleaded guilty this morning to allegations that he molested his 11-month-old daughter, attorneys in the case described for the first time the videotaped evidence of the incident that led to his arrest last week. Stephen Gallagher, 49, was arrested on Feb. 2 after the child's mother reported the encounter that occurred the night before, while Gallagher was babysitting, at her home in unincorporated Morgan Hill. Deputy District Attorney James Gibbons-Shapiro said the mother installed a security camera commonly known as a "nanny cam'' because she suspected Gallagher of drinking alcohol around their daughter. 24.11.04 | Or the kind of thing that you will be allowed to see on Venezuelan TV once the gag law passes. President Chavez by now must have ended his state visit in Spain. I am not too sure how good that visit was for Spain as it left quite a wake there. But I am sure that the inner trouble maker in Chavez must feel quite satisfied. All in all, at least on political grounds, Chavez had scored a few points, on domestic or foreign matters. At what price? Too early to say. The big news was the political...

LOS ANGELES(AP) - "Stop the killin'. Save our children." The chant echoed through South Los Angeles on a recent night as 70 community members drove or marched, under police escort, to sites on streets and sidewalks where people died in a wave of homicides this year in the nation's second-largest city. The chant resonated up and down California as 2002 drew to a close. A number of cities had disturbing increases in homicides, many involving gangs. Some cities saw a decline in bloodshed, but even without complete statistics for the entire year, Attorney General Bill Lockyer this month acknowledged what...
