New orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods in August fell by the most in 3-1/2 years, pointing to a sharp slowdown in factory activity even as a gauge of planned business spending rebounded. The Commerce Department said on Thursday durable goods orders dived 13.2 percent, the largest drop since January 2009, when the economy was in the throes of a recession. U.S. Representative Dale Kildee was among the worst 22 politicians in the U.S. Congress in 2011 when it came to looking out for taxpayers, according to a national tax watchdog group. The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) released its 2011 Congressional Ratings, which looked at the voting records of all 535 members of Congress. The U.S. economy grew at an even more sluggish pace in the April-June quarter than previously believed as farm production in the Midwest was reduced by a severe drought. The overall economy grew at an annual rate of 1.3 percent in the spring, down from its previous estimate of 1.7 percent growth, the Commerce Department said Thursday. Thursday, September 27, 2012 The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows both President Obama and Mitt Romney attracting support from 46% of voters nationwide. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. See daily tracking history. When “leaners” are included, it’s tied at 48% apiece. Leaners are those who are initially uncommitted to the two leading candidates but lean towards one of them when asked a follow-up question. Beginning October 1, Rasmussen Reports will be basing its daily updates solely upon the results including leaners.

Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition has now begun dropping their presidential voter guide into key battleground states. It has just posted to their site and you can check it out here: They are sending this out to roughly 17 million socially conservatives that they have identified in their extensive voter file. It is being delivered by mail, email, text message, to churches and door-to-door. When people receive the voting guide in the mail, they can scan the barcode into their smart phone where a video begins to play that sums up the candidates positions on the issues.
