  • More unseasonably cool air to descend on eastern U.S. next week (Summer polar vortex predicted?)

Call it the return of the summer "polar vortex" if you want -- a mass of cool, dry air from the north is forecast to bring more unseasonably cool temperatures next week in Maryland and across the eastern United States. **SNIP** Twice this month, Baltimore has set new record lows, most recently on Friday. The low of 57 degrees at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport broke a record set in 2008, of 59 degrees. On July 18, a low of 57 broke a record dating to 1976.
  • Deciding Not to Decide on Providing Intel to Ukraine: The Negation of Presidential Leadership

The NYT ran a long article yesterday describing the administration’s Hamlet-like agonizing over whether to provide Ukraine with real time intelligence useful for targeting rebel forces. (For the record, I called for this in the immediate aftermath of the flight of Yanukovych. It should be an easy decision.) One part jumped out at me: “We’ve been cautious to date about things that could directly hit Russia — principally its territory,” but also its equipment, the official said. A proposal to give the Ukrainians real-time information “hasn’t gotten to the president yet,” the official said, in part because the White House...
  • Mike Huckabee Fans Revolt After He Endorses Lamar Alexander

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee angered his Facebook fans after endorsing Sen. Lamar Alexander against conservative state Representative Joe Carr last month. Carr has been endorsed by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham for the August 7th primary. And Carr has been relentlessly hammering Alexander for voting for the Senate's amnesty bill even after law enforcement officials warned Alexander that it would lure more illegal immigrants from Central America. Nearly every one of close to 450 comments beneath Huckabee's announcement on his Facebook page blasts Huckabee for supporting Alexander. One Huckabee fan said, "We...

    First Hand Observation | 7/28/2014 | humblegunner
This past weekend, 7/26 and 7/27, Jim & Chris Robinson, Syncro & I met up near McAllen, Texas to observe first-hand the situation at the border along the Rio Grande. My report is as follows: Border Patrol Station Operations: Friday and Saturday we set about observation of the McAllen Border Patrol Station at 3000 West Military Hwy. Buses were indeed seen leaving at intervals throughout the day. It was mentioned on this thread that a warehouse was being used to stage illegals for transport elsewhere. Its location had been reported as 3700 W. Ursula Ave (Thanks to Buckeye Texan here)....
  • Michele Bachmann On Right Side Of History As She Introduces Anti-Muslim Brotherhood Bill

    Freedom Outpost ^ | July 26, 2014 | Walid Shoebat
U.S. Rep. (Michele Bachmann) and seven other congressmen have formally introduced (a bill) that would designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and impose sanctions on its supporters in the U.S. Though the chances of the bill passing with a Democrat majority in the Senate and Barack Obama as President are next to zero, it will force members in each House of Congress to pick a side on a matter of tremendous historical significance. The willingness of House Leadership (hello Speaker John Boehner) to bring the (“Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2014″) to the floor will...

Amnesty is coming — big time.Americans need to brace themselves for a huge new wave of Obama-led lawlessness because the president is planning what a top schemer in the White House calls a “very significant” executive action on immigration after the summer. Undoubtedly this means some kind of amnesty for illegal aliens is in the works over and above what Obama has already done, the Constitution and public fury notwithstanding.Obama’s “planned executive orders” would give legal status “to another 5–6 million illegal immigrants,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions, (R-Alabama). “This would effectively end immigration enforcement in America.”Leftist congressman Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) boasted...
  • Megyn Kelly Chronicles IRS Lies and Flip-Flops the Press Refuses to Cover, Let Alone Feature

On Thursday, with PJ Media's J. Christian Adams as her guest, Fox News's Megyn Kelly recited a list of assertions (under oath, she reminded us) made by Internal Revenue Service officials which have later been shown to be lies or cause for agency flip-flops after "new" facts have been revealed. It's a significant list. By implication, it's an indictment of the vast majority of the establishment press, which has refused to give the IRS scandal the attention it deserves. Video and a transcript follow the jump. ... The establishment press has been almost completely uninterested in telling their readers, listeners,...

Email Print 0Comments An estimated 93,000 people have died in Syria's metastasizing civil war. Hundreds of thousands of that conflict's refugees strain resources and stability in neighboring countries. Iran continues its steady march toward nuclear weapons development. North Korea menaces its neighbors and episodically threatens to launch nuclear missiles at Los Angeles. Turkey, long lauded by Obama as a model for the region, is violently cracking down on peaceful demonstrators. Slow growth and high unemployment hobble the world's most advanced economies as growing bureaucracy and crippling debt take their toll. Islamist movements are making gains in Mali, Indonesia, Pakistan and...

Just hours after the Malaysian government reached an agreement with Ukrainian separatists on Sunday over access to the crash site of a Malaysian airliner shot down in rebel territory, the Ukrainian military launched an operation to recapture the debris fields, again stalling international efforts to secure the site. The heavy fighting threatened to torpedo hopes of a breakthrough and cause yet more delays in collecting evidence and retrieving the remaining bodies from the crash. Ukrainian security officials said they needed control over the site to prevent the pro-Russia separatists from destroying clues to the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.

A 12-year-old girl was killed and seven people, including two other girls, were wounded in a roadside bomb attack near an army base in Thailand's insurgency-plagued south, police said Monday. (snip) The attack came at the end of the Ramadan holy month, in which a spurt of attacks has occurred. It followed a major incident on Friday, in which a vehicle bomb exploded in a commercial district in Yala province, killing two people and wounding tens of other civilians. More than 5,000 people have been killed in Thailand's three Muslim-dominated southernmost provinces since an Islamic insurgency erupted in 2004. The...

Danny Dayan, head of the Council of Judea and Samaria, said Monday that asking Israel to stop its attacks on Hamas at this time was “a perversion of morality and diplomacy.” Israelis understand quite well, he said, that “they are fighting for their homes. No matter what we do the enemy will never be satisfied” without Israel's destruction. “We must continue fighting until our goals are reached.” Dayan was speaking in light of the heavy pressure being placed on Israel by US President Barack H Obama for an immediate and unconditional cease-fire. In his proposal, Obama said that the issue...
  • Obamacare Fraud: A How-To Guide [Dems wronly claim the GAO report doesn’t mean an opening for abuse]

    National Review ^ | 7/28/2014 | Jillian Kay Melchior
When the Government Accountability Office reported last week that several of its investigators had successfully used fake identities and incorrect information to sign up for subsidized Obamacare coverage, Democrats reacted with skepticism. They claimed that the report didn’t necessarily signal big potential for fraud or abuse. Representative Sander Levin (D., Mich.) said: “There would be no financial windfall, as any government subsidy goes directly to insurance companies and not to the consumer seeking that insurance. In fact, people committing these frauds would be risking severe fines and possibly jail time.” And Representative Joseph Crawley, (D., N.Y.) called the report “much...

In Pakistan and elsewhere, Sunnis viciously and violently persecute Ahmadis as heretics and apostates. Yet in the West, Ahmadi spokesmen such as the venomous and supercilious Qasim Rashid and the unctuously pious Haris Zafar make a tidy living allying with their persecutors and aiding and abetting their sinister agenda by telling non-Muslim audiences what they want to hear — that Islam doesn’t actually have any of the doctrines that Sunnis invoke to persecute Ahmadis and others. And indeed, Ahmadi Islam doesn’t — but Rashid and Zafar don’t bother to mention to their marks that they represent a form of Islam...

A formerly homeless student who wrote a letter to President Obama to share his story and get some advice is selling a handwritten response to pay off his tuition. Jesse Grainger wrote, “As a child I had big dreams of going to college and doing great things . . . I came from a small town where most people were poor, especially my mother and me. My mom adopted me when I was one day old. She raised me to believe that education was the most important thing that I could ever get. My adopted mom died when I was 13.”

A good — but badly battered — Samaritan has a fractured cheek bone, several loose teeth and seven staples in his head after helping to nab a rape suspect on the Coney Island beach. “She said, ‘That’s him! NEW BRITAIN — More than 20 people showed up Saturday as Maidan United, a nonprofit solidarity organization between Polish and Ukrainian friends, held a fundraiser in Falcon Field Saturday to benefit victims of violence in Ukraine. The event, which featured an appearance by Yulia Marushevska, a young Ukrainian woman who created the viral YouTube video “I am a Ukrainian” in which she spoke her support of the protestors in the 2014 Ukrainian revolution. Nigerian Boko Haram militants kidnapped the wife of Cameroon's vice prime minister and killed at least three people on Sunday in a cross-border attack involving more than 200 assailants in the northern town of Kolofata, Cameroon officials said. A local religious leader, or lamido, named Seini Boukar Lamine, who is also the town's mayor, and five members of his family were also kidnapped in a separate attack on his home. SNIP Boko Haram, an Islamist group which made international headlines with the abduction of 200 Nigerian schoolgirls in April, has stepped up cross-border attacks into Cameroon in recent weeks.
