Praise the Lord and Pass the Putin By Norma Zager There is a rumor that a big Hollywood producer has approached Putin to do his own Reality Show. Why? Because Putin makes good TV. He is easily the most entertaining Russian leader since Khrushchev, who blustered and beat his shoes on desks. What a kick to watch. So what is it about Putin that makes him so much fun? After all, the moron in North Korea is an ignoramus and has definitely replaced Tattoo as the short funny guy on that Fantasy Island he inhabits. Yet, he still has the...

What does a man capable of building electric cars and space launch vehicles need? Perhaps a submarine car once driven by James Bond. When the car-turned-submarine from the 007 classic "The Spy Who Loved Me" was sold at auction in September for nearly a million dollars, the identity of the buyer was kept secret, as it usually is in collector car auctions. Thursday night, a Tesla Motors spokeswoman confirmed that the submarine, modeled after a Lotus sports car, had been bought by Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk. Musk plans to take the movie prop and turn it into an actual...

James Bond may be getting The Dark Knight treatment, as the trilogy’s director, Chris Nolan, has reportedly been approached to direct the next 007 movie. Reports are in that Christopher Nolan has been approached to direct the next Bond film. It’s definitely in the early stages, but Nolan has been in “informal talks” with the representatives of James Bond pictures, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. After Sam Mendes, director of Skyfall, decided not to return to shoot Bond 24, the studio started going down their short list of directors to continue the franchise.

Names have already been thrown around regarding who might be replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond when his tenure eventually comes to an end – though that appears to be some way off – and one of those constantly brought up is Idris Elba, most famous for his fantastic performance as super-smart gangster Stringer Bell on The Wire. It has already been confirmed that Elba met with producer Barbara Brocolli to talk about taking on a Bond role, though perhaps not the one you’re thinking of.

Everything Wrong With Skyfall In 4 Minutes Or Less

On Saturday evening I sat down to watch Skyfall, which has just been released on DVD. And I did so with a little bit of patriotic pride in my heart. Here was a British film, with a true British hero, to give those swaggering Yank blockbusters a run for their money. OK, it may have been snubbed by "The Academy", I thought, but we all know why. • WARNING: if you haven't seen Skyfall, this piece contains some spoilers

'He was best known for battling the Daleks as one of the best-loved Doctor Whos. But now it has been revealed that Jon Pertwee was a real-life secret agent years before he donned the Time Lord’s cape. The actor, who died in 1996 aged 76, was a senior intelligence agent during the Second World War and reported directly to Winston Churchill. He was also recommended for another role by James Bond creator Ian Fleming – and proved to be an expert in using a range of 007-like gadgets, including a smoking pipe that fired bullets and handkerchiefs containing secret maps....

There's supposed to be some epic Bonding at the Oscars -- the buzz is ... all 6 actors who have played James Bond may appear on stage. But now we're hearing one of them may be a no-show, and shockingly ... it could be Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan confessed yesterday in Malibu, "Well, they'll be missing one." It's unclear, but his tone and body language seems to suggest he is the one that wants no part of it. Who woulda thunk -- Sean Connery was our bet for the holdout.

Record-breaking James Bond film Skyfall opens today in China, but according to reports, some of its scenes have been censored and altered to make it acceptable to the Chinese authorities. One scene that has been been completely culled takes place in Shanghai, when a French hitman (played by Ola Rapace) is shown shooting a Chinese security guard in the elevator lobby of a skyscraper before preparing for an assassination. … It is not uncommon for imported films to open in China with potentially politically or culturally controversial scenes edited out. Men in Black 3, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s...

If you really want to understand the vast changes that have occurred in America over the past 50 years, all you have to do is watch James Bond. Back in 1962, the first Bond movie, "Dr. No," was released, catapulting Sean Connery to international stardom. Even President Kennedy expressed admiration for Ian Fleming's fictional British secret agent. Connery's Bond was ultra-suave but amazingly politically incorrect. The guy smoked constantly, drank, gambled and womanized without remorse. He was a rogue and couldn't care less what anyone thought. He was also brutal, liberally exercising his license to kill in the cause...

“Skyfall” has been praised as the best James Bond film ever, with a stunning 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and more than $800 million in global ticket sales. It is also the pinnacle example, after 50 years and 23 films, of why James Bond is the most inept hero in the history of cinema. This is apparent from his first film, 1962’s “Dr. No.” Captured trying to infiltrate the villain’s island lair, Bond is bafflingly left alive. Dr. No claims it’s because 007 may be the only man to appreciate his cunning scheme, though even after the classic “you...
