A new lawsuit has been filed seeking the release of an indictment on John and Patsy Ramsey, parents of the slain JonBenet, whose death dominated headlines worldwide more than a decade ago. A reporter from the Boulder Daily Camera and a local press advocacy group filed the lawsuit after reports surfaced a grand jury voted in secret to indict the Ramseys on charges of child abuse resulting in death in 1999. The Daily Camera reports Alex Hunter, the District Attorney at the time, refused to sign the indictment because of a lack of evidence. JonBenet, a frequent beauty pageant contestant,...

Michigan congressional candidate Kerry Bentivolio (pictured) will get a leg up in his battle against the GOP establishment in next week's Republican primary election, courtesy of the Ron Paul movement-aligned Liberty For All Super-PAC. The SuperPAC — headed by 21-year-old Texas financial heir John Ramsey — has committed an estimated $300,000 (already spending some $130,000, according to OpenSecrets.org) to support Bentivolio in his primary race over establishment write-in candidate Nancy Cassis. Bentivolio — a teacher and part-time reindeer farmer — committed to the race earlier in the year when victory seemed all but impossible. The Tea Party-aligned Bentivolio faced a...

BOULDER, Colo. (Reuters) - New DNA tests have definitively cleared the parents of U.S. child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey of her unsolved murder almost 12 years ago, prosecutors said on Wednesday. In a statement seeking to silence suspicions surrounding relatives of the slain 6-year-old, prosecutors in the U.S. said new testing techniques on male DNA found on JonBenet's clothes did not match any family members. "This new scientific evidence convinces us that it is appropriate ... to state that we do not consider your immediate family, including you, your wife Patsy, and your son Burke, to be under any suspicion...

District Attorney Mary Lacy said in a letter posted on the DA's website and first reported by Paula Woodward of 9News that the Ramsey family "be treated only as victims," and she apologized to them. Gov. Bill Owens ripped the Boulder County district attorney today, saying "Mary Lacy should be held accountable for the most extravagant and expensive DNA test in Colorado history." Owens’ statement came shortly after news reports that suspect John Mark Karr’s DNA didn’t match that found on slain JonBenet Ramsey. "Unfortunately, the hysterics surrounding John Mark Karr served only to distract Boulder officials from doing their job which should be solving the murder of JonBenet Ramsey," Owens said. "I find it incredible that Boulder authorities wasted thousands of taxpayer dollars to bring Karr to Colorado given such a lack of evidence."...

NEW YORK, NY, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- CBS News says that JonBenet Ramsey's killing has been linked to the rape of another little girl who took dance lessons at the same school in Boulder, Colo. In a report to be broadcast Saturday night on 48 Hours Mystery, the network says that JonBenet's parents are no longer suspects. JonBenet's body was found in her parents' house eight years ago. The case became a national fixation with her parents pilloried because of the suspicion they were involved in the crime and because they had pushed their daughter to appear in beauty pageants....

CHARLEVOIX, Michigan (AP) -- John Ramsey came up short Tuesday in his bid for a state House seat after a campaign shadowed by the unsolved murder of his daughter, JonBenet. Ramsey placed second among six candidates for the Republican nomination in the largely rural district in northern Michigan. He had 4,684 votes, or 24 percent, trailing attorney Kevin Elsenheimer by about 500 votes. Elsenheimer had 27 percent of the vote. A cloud of suspicion has hung over Ramsey and his wife since the 1996 slaying of 6-year-old JonBenet, but no one has ever been charged. The district attorney and a...

Ramsey loses Republican primary for Michigan House seat By AMY F. BAILEY The Associated Press 8/4/2004, 5:07 a.m. ET DETROIT (AP) — John Ramsey, father of slain child beauty queen JonBenet, received a lot of attention from the national media for his state House campaign, but it wasn't enough to win the Republican primary. The former businessman from Charlevoix came in behind Bellaire attorney Kevin Elsenheimer in Tuesday's Republican primary for the 105th state House District, which covers Antrim, Charlevoix, Otsego and Cheboygan counties. But Ramsey wasn't willing to give up Tuesday night before results were in from all precincts...

Ramsey, three others in tight race for state House, poll shows By JOHN FLESHER The Associated Press 7/28/2004, 5:23 p.m. ET TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — John Ramsey is running neck-and-neck with three other Republicans for the state House less than a week before the primary election, according to poll results released Wednesday. The survey by Lansing-based EPIC/MRA shows that many people in Michigan's 105th House District have an unfavorable impression of Ramsey, father of slain child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey. But it also suggests he is benefiting from the crowded field, pollster Ed Sarpolus said. "It's your typical divide-and-conquer...
