WASHINGTON (Oct. 3) - Sen. John Kerry's doctors have told him he is cured of the prostate cancer that sidelined him almost two years ago and that there is a slim chance it could recur in the next decade, The New York Times said Sunday in a report based on interviews with the Democratic presidential nominee and several of his physicians. "I am cured," the 60-year-old Kerry said in the interview last month. "I am cancer-free, and the percentages of me being cancer-free 10 years from now are about as good as they get." Kerry's doctors have told him there...

Democrat Kerry 'in top health'From correspondents in New York October 3, 2004DEMOCRATIC presidential candidate John Kerry is in robust health, despite a cancer operation last year and a hectic campaign schedule, The New York Times reported today after interviewing the senator's doctors. Regular blood tests checking for a recurrence of prostate cancer have been clean, doctors said. Mr Kerry, whose father died of prostate cancer at age 85, had his prostate gland entirely removed in February 2003 after detection of early-stage cancer. His doctors say he is cured. If Mr Kerry had a recurrence, "he would be astonished, and so...

October 3, 2004 At the Senator's Side, a 'Nag' for Good Health By LAWRENCE K. ALTMAN eresa Heinz Kerry's friends often call her Dr. T because of her no-nonsense counsel on health matters. "I tell them what questions to ask the doctor," she said, adding that she urges them "to take notes." "That's what I did with my husband," Mrs. Heinz Kerry said in a recent interview, referring to Senator John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee. In the interview, she talked about how she has changed his diet and suggested tests that he should get at his annual checkups. "A...

Senator John Kerry, a lean athlete who is the picture of health as he skis, skates, cycles and windsurfs, is in robust condition, he and his doctors said in their first extended interviews discussing his medical history. Mr. Kerry, 60, the Democratic presidential nominee, and his doctors discussed in great detail his health, particularly the surgery to remove his cancerous prostate gland in February 2003. It was one of two operations that disrupted his campaign. The second repaired a painful shoulder injury last March. Mr. Kerry could become the first "cancer survivor" to be elected president, but he rejected the...

  • Kerry's cancer surgery

There doesn't seem to be any current information "out there" as to how the Senator is after 19 months post cancer surgery. I post these links to refresh Freepers minds about the prostate cancer surgery and surrounding issues. It may seem like a lot to read but I think it is a fair question today. How close would we be to swearing in, uh, what's his name.......um....Edwards,.....yes, that's it, another John. I noticed what Kerry didn't say about the upcoming (Feb, 2001) surgery more than what he did say. I see no, nada, zip, zilch about his supposed faith in...
  • Kerry Mass. General Admission From Early 90's?

In the early to mid-90's I was told by a person that worked at Mass. General that Senator Kerry was an in-patient. This person worked in the cardiac care unit. I was told this at the time of the Senator's admission. At the time, the gist of the story was not the Senator's health, but the fact that the Senator was making advances towards this person while a patient and after his discharge. The medical aspect to this story seems more important at this point. Has Sen. Kerry ever disclosed this admission and the reasons for it?

(Senator Kerry:)"THE CANCER, frankly, was -- it's strange. I think it's a reflection of the experience that I went through in Vietnam, that I didn't feel particularly threatened. That I felt: `I'm going to conquer this.'"And it's why I had a confidence that I could run for president, even trying to do it. Now, in honesty, I remember sitting there through Christmas [2002], surfing through the Internet, trying to read -- get some books and figure out every alternative that there was and think through what it meant to me and what my options were with respect to it. ....

The President of the United States holds the most demanding job in the world. The physical and mental fitness of a candidate are matters of legitimate concern for voters. The refusal of John F. Kerry to release his complete medical records should be disconcerting to the press and public. All the more so, given disturbing indications that there may be serious questions about Kerry’s health and his ability to perform in office, questions which could be resolved only by the full release of his medical records. For ordinary jobs, everyone is entitled to the presumption of physical and mental fitness....
