Forum part of the annual Women's Conference When Maria Shriver gathers five wives of 2008 presidential candidates for a forum next week, it will be a first-of-its-kind event. What it won't be is a debate. "I don't want them to spend their time at this conference saying, 'My husband thinks this and my husband thinks that,'" Shriver said. "One of the criticisms of (presidential) debates is that people don't get to know who the people are, that they are canned. I am hoping that we will have a very real conversation with five women who have extraordinary lives and that...

After New Yorkers (and others) became outraged that a California supporter threw a fund-raiser for him asking for donations in the denomination of $9.11, the Giuliani campaign quietly began returning the checks. It's a small gesture..... but it's something. Is Giuliani finally recognizing how offensive it is for him to try to own the September 11 tragedy? Is he taking note that if his home city finishes turning against him, he'll have a hard time convincing people that he has a great mayoral legacy? Does this signify personal growth on his part? Eh, probably not. It's just $9.11, people.

***** Here's hoping enough voters start to realize this soon, so we can come together and elect a candidate we all support - one who actually will have a good chance at winning the presidency. Trust me, that candidate ain't Giuliani. NAME REDACTED Manhattan **** All New Yorkers can tell you that Giuliani didn't lower our taxes, he raised them through the roof. Giuliani's select tax cuts only went to his rich friends and campaign contributors. After eight years of Giuliani, even the most hardcore fans concede that we were left with the highest taxes in all of America. Manhattan

Claims he has "evolved." ....there was no way Giuliani could say anything remotely pleasing to the NRA and remain consistent to his record. The former mayor's positions were largely indistinguishable from the Clinton administration's, from which he received lavish praise for helping the feds impose an assault-weapons ban, among other NRA no-nos.
-
Most Americans understand it takes an extra chromosome to run for President, but there are some limits on odd behavior......"That was just weird," one NRA audience member told the New York Post.......Mr. Giuliani doesn't need more weird.

Because of his supporting gun control as mayor, Giuliani had already entered the room with a bull's-eye on him.

--SNIP--As NYC mayor, Giuliani was an ardent supporter of gun control - supporting a ban on assault weapons over the objections of many Republicans in Congress, as well as the NRA. In 1995 Giuliani blasted the NRA's opposition as "way overboard".........

Yes, Giuliani - the national front-runner for months now - holds close to a five-point lead over former Sen. Fred Thompson in the latest Real Clear Politics averages.

But there are big warning signs that make a Giuliani nomination a dubious proposition at best. Look - I'm no disinterested observer. I am an active Democrat and was a polling strategist for President Bill Clinton. But a big part of me would like to see the former mayor win the nomination; I'm a New Yorker, and of all the Republicans, he is most to my liking philosophically.

THE ISSUE: Caroline Giuliani's support for Sen. Barack Obama **** Giuliani will not fit the mold of the ideal conservative candidate. We need another candidate, not to just announce conservative values, but to live them. NAME REDACTED Brookville **** In 1956, Adlai Stevenson's ex-wife wrote to Chicago newspapers detailing why she was voting for President Eisenhower. Brooklyn

There's one vote that Rudy Giuliani definitely can't count on in his 2008 presidential bid: his own daughter's. According to Caroline Giuliani's Facebook profile, she's supporting Barack Obama..........Rudy and his two children, have a rocky relationship. After his third wedding, Giuliani stopped attending Caroline's high-school events..... he went to her graduation (after declaring his candidacy for president), and left without speaking to her and did not join in the family celebration, according to news reports.

......there have long been whispers that Giuliani's third marriage, not his two divorces, could be his biggest personal problem. Vanity Fair put its long-awaited profile of Judith (don't call her Judi!) Giuliani on the Web, and the whispers are about to get a lot louder. --SNIP-- Giuliani's wife is a political liability, and that isn't good........Giuliani has a pattern of terrible judgment, from promoting the integrity-challenged Bernie Kerik from his driver to police commissioner to (almost) Homeland Security chief to continuing to employ his friend, Monsignor Alan Placa, despite credible accusations he not only helped cover up child abuse in...
