Longstanding downtown Minneapolis gay bar The Saloon will no longer sell Bud Light or other Anheuser-Busch beverages because of how the beer brand handled backlash from a marketing campaign involving a transgender influencer. With the Twin Cities Pride festival set for this weekend, the Hennepin Avenue bar announced Monday it cut ties with the St. Louis-based brewing giant and replaced its products with beer from local breweries. The Saloon's decision follows months of controversy after Bud Light partnered with Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender woman, for a social media promotion video April 1. The brand sent her specially designed cans to...

I saw a local advocacy group tweet out a factoid that I just knew had to be wrong. It was a right-leaning group called the Minnesota Action Network, and while I am very sympathetic to its causes I thought they had to be gaslighting us.Yes, I do fact-check my allies when I can. Otherwise, I could wind up repeating things that are excessively “spun” or outright false, and I hate to look stupid by doing so. I make enough stupid mistakes on my own, thank you!Nope. They weren’t. The comparisons are actually worse than they imply.Minneapolis’ crime record has surpassed that...

Somehow not satisfied with the lynching of police officers who restrained violent criminal George Floyd during his drug overdose, the resulting nationwide race riots, deaths, and doubling of the murder rate in Minneapolis. Attorney General Merrick Garland, running Biden’s DOJ, has announced a crackdown on Minneapolis police officers that will prevent them from fighting crime. While announcing the latest pro-crime attack on cops, Garland claimed, “As I told George Floyd’s family this morning, his death has had an irrevocable impact on the Minneapolis community, on our country and on the world. His loss is still felt deeply by those who...

A massive decrease in the number of students has dropped public schools in Democrat-run Minneapolis into a financial crisis. According to an internal memo obtained by local media, Minneapolis Publis Schools (MPS) Senior Financial Officer Ibrahima Diop wrote of an “imminent financial crisis” so serious that “[w]ithout significant changes, MPS will run out of money during the 2024-2025 school year and be unable to operate as it does now.” Oh, yeah, that would be a real shame. So what’s happening here….? To begin with, the federal government’s COVID money train is coming to a stop. But that’s not the existential...

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is scheduled to be in Minneapolis Friday to announce the results of an extensive investigation into the city's police department — particularly officers’ use of force. The probe is widely expected to result in long-term federal court oversight of the MPD. In April of 2021, the day after a Hennepin County jury convicted former police officer Derek Chauvin of murdering George Floyd, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the Justice Department would take a close look at the Minneapolis Police Department’s policies, training, supervision, and its use of force. For more than two years, Justice...

When a police officer is sued for misconduct, it’s typically their employer — generally the city, county or state — who pays out legal damages or settlement funds to close the claim, as opposed to the officer or police department. That’s left between one-fourth and one-third of all government bodies in Minnesota on the hook for more than $160 million in largely taxpayer-funded payouts over a 10-year period, according to a recent report. The vast majority of those dollars originated in one city — Minneapolis — that alone paid out $136 million, or nearly 85% of the statewide total. St....

When hearing about rival Somali political factions rioting, one might assume the event occurred in Somalia, where political violence is the norm. But the mayhem in question actually was in Minneapolis, where, increasingly, being Somali is the norm. (Apparently, “Minnesota nice” hasn’t rubbed off.) Per The Post Millennial:A riot erupted in Minnesota during Democrat nominations for Minneapolis City Council on Saturday [May 13], which led to no candidate being chosen in Ward 10 after officials were forced to shut down the event over safety concerns.Somalian supporters of city council candidate Nasri Warsame turned to political violence and reportedly assaulted Minneapolis...

In a May 11, 2023 article, we explored the axiom that all cultures are created equal -- or, in Pope Francis’s words, “Never again can the Christian community allow itself to be infected by the idea that one culture is superior to others.” Two days later, that claim was put to test right here in the USA, when all bedlam broke lose in Minneapolis. On May 13, 2023: A riot erupted in Minnesota during Democrat nominations for Minneapolis City Council on Saturday, which led to no candidate being chosen in Ward 10 after officials were forced to shut down the...

Jackie Rahm Little, 36, was federally charged over the week in fires at two Minneapolis mosques. MINNEAPOLIS — The man who was federally charged over the weekend in fires set at two Minneapolis mosques was previously bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund, court records show. The leader of Minnesota’s Democratic Party says he is calling an emergency meeting this week to "ban individuals engaged in violent assaults" from its ranks after a tense confrontation erupted over the weekend at an event to nominate candidates for a Minneapolis City Council seat. The showdown between supporters of Minneapolis Council Member Aisha Chughtai and her challenger, Nasri Warsame, on Saturday has been surrounded by allegations of assault from both campaigns ahead of the November election. Video shows the incident began after a crowd of Chughtai supporters took the stage in preparation for her speech, which caused an uproar...

An ancient artifact was damaged when a visitor tripped at the Minneapolis Institute of Art last month, according to the StarTribune. The Pillsbury Owl, a 12th- or 13th-century BCE bronze owl-shaped wine vessel, was at the entrance of the museum’s exhibition “Eternal Offerings: Chinese Ritual Bronzes” when the damage occurred on April 9. Shang-dynasty (ca. 1600–1046 BCE) aristocrats would have used the vessel in rituals offerings to honor their ancestors. A museum spokesperson confirmed that the vessel has since been removed from the show for further assessment and conservation. The extent of the damage, as well as how long conservation...

The last of four former Minneapolis police officers facing state charges in the death of George Floyd has been convicted of aiding and abetting manslaughter. Tou Thao was convicted for his role in the murder of Floyd, who died on May 25, 2020, when former police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than nine minutes despite his fading cries of “I can’t breathe.” Floyd’s killing led to worldwide protests, and his last words became a rallying cry in the call for police reform. Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter in April 2021 and later pleaded guilty...

Rep. Athena Hollins, DFL-St. Paul, who is “openly pansexual,” said in an interview that American history should make white kids “feel bad.” “What I’ve been told when I talk to people is that white kids feel bad about what happened in the past,” Hollins said. “And I said they should. They should feel bad. It was terrible what happened.”

Anybody fighting City Hall is outgunned and outnumbered. It is just a fact of life. If anything can be said to have deep pockets, it is government–because their pockets include everybody else’s. That’s why it is so important to have independent groups like the Pacific Legal Foundation, which along with a few other nonprofits like the Institute for Justice, can beef up the power of the little guy. They can’t fight every battle, but they can rack up some important victories which make everybody’s lives a bit better. ... I am a big fan of the PLF and what they...

St. Louis, Mo., Apr 18, 2023 / 15:00 pm The mayor of Minneapolis on Monday signed into law a new ordinance allowing the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, to be broadcast on loudspeakers from the city’s nearly two dozen mosques five times a day, including at dawn and late evening. The new ordinance is expected to take effect on Friday after passing the city council unanimously and gaining the approval of Mayor Jacob Frey, who likened the call to prayer to the ringing of church bells and the Jewish shofar. The previous ordinance restricted the adhan practice to between...

Pro-crime policies work. They always work. Minneapolis Police records showed there have been 2,725 auto thefts so far in 2023, compared to 1,306 last year at this time. What could the home of famous drug overdose victim George Floyd be doing right to make that happen? “I bet 14 or 16 years old, came up, had guns, like right into, you know, my stomach, and all I could look at was the gun,” Craig Boettcher said. He was one of the 755 victims attacked in the Twin Cities last year. We know stories like his well. “They said ‘Give us...

Increasingly during these strange times, we watch foreshadows of past prophecy spread across our nation. I say “strange times,” because things are taking place that are antithetical to all we have embraced as a constitutionally secured republic founded on Judeo-Christian principles. By “shadows of past prophecy,” I’m referring to there being nothing new under the sun, as written by the writer of Ecclesiastes. The clouds of wickedness that plagued generations of antiquity as reported by God’s prophets now are a metastasizing sin-stain shadow of evil spreading across America. Particularly, I believe we can look at Daniel’s time in Babylon and...

Have you ever married a sibling? Like, say, a Somalian Muslim immigrant, who wears a kerchief over her head to connote deep religious integrity and modesty, marrying her brother? What is that like? I mean, really. Can you imagine the quarrels at home? “You know what I hate most about you?” “What?” “I hate your parents. They are the worst Satanic in-laws a man ever could be stuck with!” “Well, the people you are calling Satanic are your parents, too.” “Don’t you dare speak that way about my parents! I’m talking now about your parents!” “My parents are just watching...
