There is still a stigma in our culture about pregnancy loss, miscarriage, and stillbirth. Here are three reasons not to keep it a secret.Meghan, the duchess of Sussex, revealed last week in a New York Times opinion article that she suffered a miscarriage last summer. Recently, supermodel Chrissy Teigen was also open about her grief over her pregnancy loss. While there is still a tendency in our culture to conceal pregnancy losses, I applaud the willingness of these well-known women to share their stories, and hope that their examples will help mothers and families in the same situation to be...

A few weeks ago, we featured a pair of articles—one on miscarriage, and one on the effects of low progesterone—that both mentioned the term “chemical pregnancy.” But what exactly is a chemical pregnancy, and why is it even called that? How common are chemical pregnancies, and do women even know they’ve had them? Are they even “real” pregnancies? This week, we hope to answer some of the questions and clear up some of the misconceptions surrounding the common phenomenon known as chemical pregnancy. We’re also sharing the personal experience of Johanna, who has had a chemical pregnancy—a pregnancy she wouldn’t...

Ten weeks into my first pregnancy, I had a miscarriage. It was really devastating. My doctor said, ‘You know, this happens all the time and there’s no reason for you to not try again when you’re ready.’ So, a month later, I was pregnant again. We made it through the first trimester with no problems. Then we started to get some concerning blood test results and my pregnancy was elevated to be high risk. I was transferred to a high risk maternal fetal medicine obstetrician in New York City and was highly monitored, getting checks every couple of weeks, and...

In an interview with pro-abortion activist Amanda Palmer, abortionist Leah Torres explains how she instructs women whose partners or families don’t want them to abort to fake a miscarriage. "That is the society that we live in. We have to protect pregnant people a lot of the time and protect what they want… That’s why I can say, here, you’re gonna take this pill, go to the bathroom, have a bath. When you’re in there, place these pills in your vagina and then you’re gonna have a miscarriage and that’s horrible and tragic, but at least your family will understand....

Into a discussion about the treatment of the bodies of aborted and miscarried babies, the Washington Post brought an obnoxiously flippant parody piece purporting to support funerals for sperm. In other words, presenting us with an apple and saying, "This is a banana." Post columnist Alexandra Petri wrote on December 4, in the Opinion section, “State legislators, stop being cowards. Mandate funerals for all spermatozoa.” She began with a Pennsylvania bill that would no longer treat the dead bodies of premature babies as medical waste, but allow for their cremation or funeral services at the parents’ request. Or, as Petri...

There's No Medical Reason to Throw Away a Child. Don't Want a Child. Don't Keep It.(Allow the child to be adopted out.)If a medically necessary therapeutic procedure accidentally results in miscarriage, the doctor now has two patients. That's not procured abortion, it's spontaneous.Abortion is a non-therapeutic action intended to cause fetal demise. Once the child has been delivered, there is no medical or social reason to deliberately cause fetal mortality. It is a foundation of Confucian philosophy, that the way to understand something is to call it what it is. Abortion is not the practice of medicine. It is civilly decreed...

Moms who have suffered miscarriages are slamming Planned Parenthood for its tweet comparing miscarriage to abortion. The liberal media have yet to cover it – but that’s not stopping more women from chiming in. On Friday, Planned Parenthood Action Fund quoted feminist writer Danielle Campoamor on Twitter after she insisted that there’s “no difference" between a woman who has had a miscarriage and a woman who has had an abortion. The quote came from a piece she wrote for Romper, where Campoamor serves as editor. "There is a common misconception that the mom who miscarries is a very different person...

Ted and Theresa Baklinski with their growing brood of grandchildren. COMBERMERE, December 25, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Amid all the joyful bustle of family preparations in anticipation of the holy day of Christ's birth, Christmas time always brings to my mind the deep regret that I feel over the one child my wife and I lost due to miscarriage, because it reminds me that at the time I was like the Bethlehem innkeeper who said there was no more room. I was having a lot of trouble accepting that my wife was pregnant with our ninth child. It's not that we...

Proof that my baby existed. And yes, I peed on these, get over it. So. It’s been a while.I stopped writing about abortion because I started to feel a little bit overexposed, maybe even repetitive. Hadn’t I said everything I needed to say about abortion? Was it making any difference, anyway? As far as I know, I’ve never converted even a single person from pro-abortion to pro-life. Maybe writing about abortion is not what I’m supposed to do.I was thinking that way for about a month. I didn’t feel like writing. I felt somewhat disillusioned by the movement, disappointed by...

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — More and more of your medical records are being made available online. But do you know what’s in those records? Do you understand what your doctors mean when they use certain terms? This FOX6 investigation could help you in the future. In 2009, Andrea Christian lost a child. ”I did at one point see the heartbeat and then you don`t see it,” she remembers. “It hits you all at once.” She recently changed doctors and requested her medical records. She couldn’t believe what she read. “I just felt like they had ignored that I had lost a...

Pregnancy loss is a common and painful condition for gestational women, accounting for 25-40% of total pregnancy, having become a serious social-medical issue worldwide. Animal studies and clinical investigations have indicated that the cause of many mid-term miscarriage/abnormal pregnancy has been seeded very early during the onset of embryo implantation. Epidemiological study also showed that maternal stress at early pregnancy is strongly associated with various complications during ongoing gestation. However, whether and how the process of embryo implantation is affected by environmental factors such as stress induced sympathetic activation remained elusive. Considering the mammalian uterus is an organ with extensive...
