DETROIT – A young man who participated in a mob attack on a Detroit-area motorist needed a father to "beat the hell" out of him as a kid to discourage him from committing such a crime, a judge said Thursday. The stunning remarks by Wayne County Judge James Callahan came as he sentenced Latrez Cummings to six months in jail. In response to the judge's question, Cummings, 19, said his father wasn't around when he was growing up.

Photo gallery from the city's third 'Mass Mob' this summer. Nearly 2,000 people packed an historic Catholic Church for a regular Sunday Mass. It's the third time it's happened, with the crowds getting bigger each time. (Detroit Free Press had a great article on it here, but won't let folks post excerpts, so you'll have to read the article at the link: http://www.freep.com/article/20140713/NEWS05/307130141/Detroit-Mass-Mob-Sweetest-Heart )

No Muslims were arrested, of course, although at least one of the Jews was: Muslims are a protected class in multicultural Canada. Here is an excerpt from Blogwrath‘s recounting of events: After that the Arab bullies turned against the Jews with sticks and fists. You can see that confrontation in the movie below (that moment was also covered by Blazingcatfur). After the vicious beating one person was sent to hospital with injuries and another one who came to support JDL-Canada was arrested for no reason (and held for several hours). Blogwrath refers to “Arab bullies,” but the reason why they...

Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, 8:31 AM This was crazy! Adding insult to injury, far left amnesty activists stormed Eric Cantor’s election night headquarters after his loss to Dave Brat. They raided the wrong headquarters. Cantor lost. This had to hurt. The Washington Post reported: As if the political drama were not powerful enough, chaos erupted at election night headquarters shortly after House Majority Leader Eric Cantor conceded his stunning defeat to tea...

Black Beach Week used to get all the glory: Every Memorial Day weekend, 300,000 black people gathered in Miami Beach to get their freak on. And also create a tsunami of violence, robbery, shootings, carjackings, vandalism, mayhem, noise and trash. snip... Last year, a local radio personality said all the ruckus was just one big misunderstanding. She could speak for all of those who still refuse to believe that black mob violence exists out of proportion on Memorial Day. And every other day: "You had many more people up that way than previous years," said Jill Tracey. "You have that...

....the National Basketball Players Association has made it clear they want both Sterlings removed by the start of the 2014-15 season, and one of the players union’s executives is threatening a boycott, led by four-time MVP LeBron James, if that deadline isn’t met. “If it’s not handled by… the start of next season, I don’t see how we’re playing basketball,” NBPA vice president Roger Mason Jr. said in an interview with Showtime’s Jim Rome. “We have player reps, we’ve got executive committee members…

Bowman posted the video, taken on a helmet-mounted camera, to YouTube, leading cyclists around the city to recount on social media similar experiences they had in the area. "I thought I'd just outrun the attackers," he wrote. "Wrong. Unless you're going downhill or already have some major speed, they will block your escape routes and grab any part of your bike or clothing to try to bring you down."

Ever wonder why a dirt-bag like The Reverend Al Sharpton has not yet felt the weight of the long arm of the law? On Monday it became less of a mystery. It isn’t much of a stretch to believe that Sharpton is a liar and race pimp of the worst kind. He does little that does not benefit him directly. Now the good “Reverend” has fresh bullet points to add to his CV; shakedown artist and rabble-rouser extraordinaire, it turns out that Sharpton was also tightly bound to the mob and subsequently agreed to be “flipped” by the FBI to...

DETROIT — A suburban Detroit man was in critical condition Thursday with severe head injuries after a neighborhood mob beat and kicked him when he stopped to check on a 10-year-old boy who stepped from a curb into the path of his pickup. The 54-year-old man, whose name was not released, was being treated at a Detroit hospital as police scoured the east side neighborhood where he was attacked Wednesday afternoon. The boy, David Harris, was expected to recover from his injuries, according to Desmond Key, who said he was the 10-year-old’s uncle. The driver — who lives just north...

The other night we reported how a mob of 200 teens went on a rampage in downtown Louisville, Kentucky last Saturday night, assaulting people and mob-robbing stores. There was surveillance footage from a store that was mob-robbed that showed the teens to be black – a detail left out in the reporting of the story. One of the women attacked was reported to be in her car with her children in the backseat. She has come forward to explain what really happened and it’s a situation none of us would want to find ourselves in, especially with 5 children in...

Guy Benson got a nice scoop at our sister site on a new ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee highlighting Harry Reid’s attack on people who “dare to complain about ObamaCare.” Consider this just the first salvo in the breach opened by Reid, as I described earlier today:

Years ago, members of my extended family were gangsters connected with the Genovese crime family. They had the ability, which they used, to place people in favored positions within the New York City Police Department. I know this, because my father was offered one of those slots. --SNIP-- It's the old problem of "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"—"Who watches the watchmen?"

MONTREAL — For the third time in just over four years, the main Italian Catholic church in Montreal hosted a funeral for Canada's reputed first family of Mafia power. A cortege of 11 limousines followed a hearse carrying the body of Vito Rizzuto, the multilingual don who ran an international crime syndicate that frustrated Canadian law enforcement for decades. The 67-year-old Sicilian-born Montrealer died of complications from lung cancer a week earlier. About 100 people attended Monday's funeral, mainly close relatives of the don. None of them spoke to reporters. It was a far cry from the big crowds that...

MONTREAL — Time took care of crime boss Vito Rizzuto before his enemies could get to him. The 67-year-old died Monday morning of a lung ailment, ending his 35-year reign atop Canada's criminal underworld and throwing the Mafia into disarray. A source at Montreal's north-end Sacre-Coeur hospital confirms Rizzuto died Monday at 4 a.m. An ambulance transported Rizzuto to the hospital's emergency room on Saturday evening, with family members in tow. A source says he was confused and had a fever. Nicknamed "Montreal's Teflon don," Rizzuto ran a powerful organized crime syndicate for decades but was never convicted in Canada...

This Sunday, Gaudete Sunday, we light the third candle of the Advent wreath. The rose-colored candle and the priests’ rose vestments mark a change in the tenor of this penitential season. For those who have been using Advent as a time to prepare heart and home for the celebration of Christ’s birth, it is a reminder to rejoice in His approaching arrival. For all it is a reminder to get serious with the remainder of the season and use it profitably, to exercise not the feeling, but the virtue, of Hope. And we do need hope. I don’t know how...
