  • The Day Of Vengeance Nears ...Song of Moses pt 12

Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. ( Deuteronomy 32:33-34)We have arrived at the last stanza of the Song of Moses. It is thoroughly apocalyptic. The LORD is upright, perfect and generous in all of his dealings, abundantly blessing the Nation Israel, which He created and treated as a Son, teaching him and lavishing him with blessings, privilege, and deliverances....
  • The LORD Yearns For Israel...Song of Moses pt 11

I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men: Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the Lord hath not done all this. For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. … … (Deuteronomy 32:26-30)In this stanza of the Song of Moses, the LORD assures that He would not totally obliterate His prodigal and rebellious son; partly because He knows that...
  • The Wrath Of God...Song of Moses pt 10

This is a poetic description of the evils which would be heaped upon Israel in her apostasy and rebellion, when the time of God’s long forbearance had come to an end, and there was no repentance on the part of the chosen people. God taught the people of Israel to sing of the coming wrath, it was part of the national catechism, the Song of Moses, the warning of future apostasy and wrath. Other parts of Deuteronomy and Leviticus give a more detailed description of the terrors which were to come upon the nation, and which have literally and minutely...
  • The Rise Of the "non People"...Song of Moses pt 9

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.( Deuteronomy 32:20-21)The most devastating calamity to befall the Jewish people, was predicted centuries before it happened by Moses, in the song God told Moses...
  • Divine Rejection and Punishment...Song of Moses pt 8

And when the Lord saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. … They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. I will...
  • What The LORD Did For Israel...song of Moses pt 5

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out...
  • Israel Is Central Among Nations...Song of Moses pt 4

Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.(Deuteronomy 32:6-8)The last verse of the first section(vs 1-6) of the song of Moses...
  • Ascribe Greatness to Our God...song of Moses pt 2

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.(Deuteronomy 32:1-4)Moses prays that his doctrine would fall as the rain, and distill as...
  • Calling The Universe To Witness...song of Moses pt 1

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: (Deuteronomy 32:1-2)In the latter part of his life, Moses, the servant of God, taught Israel a song which prophesied the entire future of the people of Israel. The LORD had called Moses and Joshua into the tabernacle to announce Moses’ death, and to impart to Moses the song, which he was to teach...

Conventional biblical scholars tentatively position Moses during the Ancient Egyptian New Kingdom reign of Ramses II. Not much evidence supports this view. However, the Egyptian Twelfth Dynasty stories provide so many details which match the Exodus details, that these coincidences strongly suggest that both sources are describing the same events... Amenemhet I - Sehetepibre (1991-1962) First king of the 12th Dynasty... The Story of Sinuhe tells of the events concerning his murder... This is 'the Egyptian' killed by Moses (as Sinuhe) for 'abusing a Hebrew'. He is Moses' half-brother and adoptive step-father. His mother is Nubian. Senusret I - Kheperkare...

A retired Egyptian general has accused a historic monastery of being a threat to national security, and a Salafist weekly newspaper alleged that the monastery collaborates with Israeli intelligence officials, according to the Egyptian weekly Watani and the Fides news agency. Saint Catherine’s Monastery, now Eastern Orthodox, was built by the Emperor Justinian in the sixth century and is located at the foot of Mount Sinai. It stands accused of being a beachhead of Greece and the European Union on Egyptian territory. “It is weird that our monks, and there are no more than 37 of us, would be accused...

A retired army general says he has filed a court case pushing for Egypt's historic Saint Catherine's Monastery to be demolished and its Greek monks deported on the grounds that they pose a threat to national security. In May 2012, Ahmed Ragai Attiya obtained 71 administrative orders regarding the demolition of the monastery's multiple churches, monk cells, gardens and other places of interest on the grounds, which he claims were all built in 2006 and thus not historic, according to Ihab Ramzy, the monastery's lawyer. ... In the same ONTV interview, Attiya levelled a host of accusations against the monastery's...

A humorous video walks you through the exodus of the Jews as if it happened today. What if Moses had Facebook? That's the question a Jewish group in Israel began formally asking in 2011. And by Monday - on the eve of Passover - more than 2.5 million people had clicked in to watch a YouTube video trying to answer that question, all with a jazzy version of the Passover classic, "Dayenu," set in the background. When Aish.com first publicized the "Google Exodus - Passover Movie," just 50,000 people had seen the clever 2:17-minute clip. Silicon Valley plays a prominent role...
  • Judges: The King is Coming - The Prophet We Must Shema

The most repeated prophecy in the entirety of the Gospel record is often hidden behind the definitive article. The definitive articles from the Greek text have been translated: THIS, THAT, and THE - but they all definitively define THE PROPHET who was prophesied by Moses. This is THE PROPHET the Almighty promised to send, and THAT PROPHET is the one who would speak only that which he heard from heaven. It is THIS PROPHET that we must shema (hear and obey). There is not a more repeated prophetic declaration in the Gospel record than the recognition that Yeshua is THAT...

The prophet David gave us an insightful overview of the Torah, “He made known His acts unto Israel – His ways unto Moses.” Moses pled for the Almighty to reveal Himself to him, so the Almighty moved Moses into the cleft of the rock and covered him with His hand as the glory of YHVH approached. Moses was only allowed to see Him after He passed by. So it is, that we are seldom allowed to see what He is doing – or going to do – but in “hindsight” we can see His “ways” that so profoundly affect our...

The United States Postal Service has announced that former NRA President Charlton Heston will be honored with his own stamp. The stamp is part of their “Legends of Hollywood” series, and while the specific issue date has not yet been determined, it will be issued sometime in 2014. Heston was a five term president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003. He was a tireless advocate for Second Amendment rights and will always be remembered by the NRA faithful for his “cold, dead hands” speech delivered at the 2000 NRA Annual Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • Veil in Reverse! What does the Veiling of Moses’ Face have to teach us?

In most traditional Catholic settings we usually think of the veil as something a woman wears, and as a sign of traditional modesty and prayer. In this sense we think of it as something good and positive, though perhaps some among us are less than enthusiastic. But in the readings of Mass from this Wednesday, the veil is presented in far more ambivalent terms:As Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the commandments in his hands, he did not know that the skin of his face had become radiant while he conversed with the LORD….the children of...
  • Michael Eric Dyson: Attorney General Eric Holder 'the Moses of our time'

    06/05/2013 7:32:38 PM PDT · by Nachum · 36 replies
While appearing on MSNBC's "Martin Bashir" Thursday, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson called Attorney General Eric Holder "the Moses of our time," claiming that the attorney general is the "chief law giver" of the nation, the Washington Free Beacon reported. "I think the attorney general should step down too -- off of that plateau where he resides on high principle and whip some head. But he shouldn’t give up his office," he told Bashir after being asked about calls for Holder's resignation.

This upcoming Friday, April 5, will be the 5th year anniversary of the death of Charlton Heston, one of the greatest actors of all time. His best known roles include The Ten Commandments, The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Agony and the Ecstasy, Ben-Hur, The Greatest Show on Earth, Midway, Planet of the Apes, and Beneath the Planet of the Apes. But Chuck was also known for his political activism. He was originally a liberal Democrat, even supporting the Gun Control Act of 1968 (when asked why he did that, he replied, “I was young and foolish”). But soon aftewards...

This is a Torah class (in English interspersed with translated Hebrew verses from Torah) about one particular detail of the building of the Tabernacle, found in Exodus 38:21-29. The Torah mentions "vavin" (hooked nails that resembled the Hebrew letter 'vav.') Jews-- it's fascinating. If you haven't listened to a Torah shiur give it a try. The overall lesson of the class is that every Jew is a part of the Torah (spoiler--the "vavin," which are technically outside the boundary of the Tabernacle since they were pointed outward from the outermost poles, and the outer walls were hung on these hooks....
