The ‘angel’ (Picture: Detik.com) When a fisherman found a beautiful doll floating in the sea days after a solar eclipse in Indonesia, he thought it was an angel. Pardin, 21, rescued it from the water and took it home, where his mother took care of it like a real human, dressing it every day in a different blouse and hijab and sitting in a chair. Word spread in the small village on Banggai island off central Sulawesi with embellishments added to the story too, such as that the ‘angel child’ was found stranded and crying, according to local media. His...

Ending the drought in the West will require rain—not too much rain—and smarter ways to collect and store that water. But something else that can keep things moist? Believe it or not: Beavers. According to a story in Water Deeply, a group of ecologists have a plan to help repopulate the Central Coast of California with Castor canadensis, the large beavers which once roamed the state in great numbers. (Not to be confused with their ancestors, giant beavers that were seven feet long.) The idea is that beavers are nature’s hydrologists, engineering the way that water travels through the landscape:

This is one fish will not be seeing the other end of a septum tank. A tiny pet fish named Peeping Tom, aptly named for his love of creepily staring at people while they were in the shower, sadly passed away after his owner's dad mistakenly moved his fish bowl into a too-shady part of the house. ** PROFANITY ALERT ** It took less than 24 hours for Twitter to corrupt an innocent AI chatbot. Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled Tay — a Twitter bot that the company described as an experiment in "conversational understanding." The more you chat with Tay, said Microsoft, the smarter it gets, learning to engage people through "casual and playful conversation." Unfortunately, the conversations didn't stay playful for long. Pretty soon after Tay launched, people starting tweeting the bot with all sorts of misogynistic, racist, and Donald Trumpist remarks. And Tay — being essentially a robot parrot with an Internet connection — started repeating...

A Reddit user named “Miss Reb” posted photos she took of a FIAT that drove into a wall painted like a Road Runner tunnel. In fact, there was even a painting of Road Runner beside it. ... While, the situation happened three months ago, it is just coming to surface now. The exact location has not been determined. Though, a closer look at the images shows that none of the cars photographed have American license plates. The painted tunnel was one of the more popular of Wile E. Coyote’s stunts he performed to trick the Road Runner and hoping it...

The undead appearance of this animal has many scratching their heads. A viral photo of a moose has many speculating as to what is ailing the animal in Alaska. The photos were apparently taken in Anchorage last summer and show an animal with an almost zombie-like appearance. The moose is missing large patches of hair, exposing black and bright red patches of skin. "That moose had been attacked by a bear by a neighbor’s house," Patricia Grenier told the Alaska Dispatch News. "(The moose) was gone and everybody thought it had died, but then it was back and it was...

For six years, a building supervisor in Spain quietly collected a $41,500 salary from his local government without showing up for work. And he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for him getting an award for his 20 years of loyal service. Joaquin Garcia, 69, was recently fined $30,000 for the extended paid vacation from a water treatment plant in Cadiz -- the maximum penalty government officials could deliver, the BBC reported.

If you think your Thursday was bad, just bear this in mind: someone woke up, went to their job where they pretend to be Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes‘ mascot Tony the Tiger on the internet, and had to ask people to stop sending them anthropomorphic animal porn. So three days ago Kellogg‘s started blocking the furries en masse. Even ones who weren’t posting porn. Even, it seems, ones who hadn’t even said anything to Tony on Twitter. But some stayed with Tony, and essentially ended up DDoSing the account with complaints about the blocking, requests for sex and a lot of...
