ORANJESTAD, Aruba — For the first time, Aruban authorities on Friday detailed their suspicions in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway (search), saying they believe the Alabama teen was murdered. Joran van der Sloot (search) and his friends Deepak and Satish Kalpoe are being held under suspicion of murder and kidnapping as well as being an accessory to murder.

Breaking News. Judge Paul Van Der Sloot, father of one of the suspects in the Aruba missing persons case has been arrested and is in police custody.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- Aruban police on Thursday detained the father of a Dutch teen already in custody in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, the teen's mother said.

Authorities in Aruba arrested Thursday the father of Joran van der Sloot (search), the 17-year-old held in connection with the disappearance of missing Alabama high school student Natalee Holloway (search). The arrest does not necessarily mean that authorities believe that Paul van der Sloot knows what happened to Natalee. But Aruban law gives authorities significant leeway to hold someone in custody without charging them with a crime as a way to find out more about an incident.

NOORD, Aruba -- Police in Aruba are at the home of a Dutch teen who's in custody in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. They cordoned off the home of the boy's family in Noord, just outside Aruba's capital, and they've towed two vehicles from the property.
