A Linwood man was arrested Wednesday by federal IRS agents for allegedly filing five years of false income tax returns. . . . . . . . . . . . . . A grand jury indicment says Frank Dominico, 65, failed to report about $2.5 million in personal income from his job as treasurer and president of General Glass Equipment Co. in Absecon. Dominico also is accused of falsely claiming mortgage interest on his home that he did not pay and submitting a number of W-2 forms to the IRS that included false information, the indictment says. Each of...

The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local's current legal director was disbarred from the practice of law over 20 years ago. Edward C. Chew III is the Executive Assistant to the President and Legal Director of UFCW 1776. Chew is also the Chairman of the UFCW Local 1776 Legal Trust Fund. The Supreme Court of New Jersey disbarred Chew from the practice of law “for the knowing misappropriation of client funds” in 1992. According to the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Review Board’s website, Chew remains ineligible to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania. Chew was admitted as a member of...

WILMINGTON, Del. - (AP) -- Highway engineers say a crucial bridge on the Eastern Seaboard's interstate highway system could imperil drivers if traffic is allowed back on it. The bridge, near Wilmington, Delaware, was closed Monday when its support pillars were found to be tilting. The Interstate 495 bridge won't reopen anytime soon, highway officials said Tuesday, and the 90,000 vehicles that cross it every day are being diverted onto the main north highway, I-95, further overloading one of the most crowded arteries in America.
  • Mark Levin: Thank you, Steve Lonegan

Steve Lonegan is a wonderful family man and patriot. He would have been a superb member of the House. But the DC RINOs, led by John Boehner, were opposed to him. You see, he would have been an independent conservative and they cannot stand that in the Capitol Building. So, the RINOs put up a candidate against Lonegan who they can control, and will control, and who loaned his campaign millions to use in an endless series of attack ads. This is the new modus operandi of the RINOs in all the races across the country. During the course of...
  • ACLU sues 7 school districts for discriminating against immigrant families

    New Jersey Star-Ledger ^ | June 3, 2014 | By Peggy McGlone
The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey filed lawsuits today against seven school districts, accusing them of discriminating against immigrant families by requiring government-issued identification from parents trying to enroll their children. Federal law and state regulation prohibits children from registering for school based on their parent’s immigrant status. The rights organization contends that Old Bridge Township, North Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Galloway Township, Audubon, Gloucester Township and Somerdale Park require driver’s licenses or other forms of identification that can only be obtained by immigrants with legal status.

The league has never kicked out someone for speech before, but the era of smartphones and political correctness may change that. With the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers franchise from Shelly Sterling to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer apparently on the league’s fast track, there really needs to be an assessment of what exactly happened to Donald Sterling and why he was banned from the National Basketball Association after a privately recorded conversation which was filled with racist and sexist remarks ended up on TMZ. How the tape ended up with Harvey Levin is being investigated by the Los...

A demented Sandy Hook “truther” was arrested Friday in Virginia after he stole signs from playgrounds in New Jersey and Connecticut that were dedicated to tiny victims of the Newtown school massacre, police say. Andrew David Truelove, 28, lifted a sign May 6 from a Mystic, Conn., playplace dedicated to 7-year-old Grace McDonnell and also took a sign from the playground made for Chase Kowalski, also 7, in Mantoloking, N.J. He called the parents of both children after the thefts and told them the shooting was a hoax and that their children never existed. Cops in Stonington, Conn., got a...

New Jersey could be downgraded again because of its growing budgetary imbalance and underfunded public pension, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services warned on Monday. S&P had already cut the state's rating to 'A+' in April. Wall Street's two other main credit rating agencies soon followed in slicing the state to a single-A rating. That put New Jersey among the three lowest-rated states, along with California and Illinois.

Politico says its weight-loss experts estimate Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has lost 85 pounds since bariatric surgery last year. After a constituent remarked about the governor’s noticeably slimmed-down physique at a town hall meeting last week, POLITICO asked two experts to estimate the governor’s weight loss by comparing several pictures of him from 2011 with recent photos. “I think he is making progress, absolutely, for what I would expect this at this point of the process,” said Dr. Jessica Barfield, a doctor of internal medicine specializing in nutrition and weight management at Loyal Medicine’s Center for Metabolic Surgery and Bariatric...

New Jersey Republicans are on track to get their preferred nominee through the primary in the state’s most competitive House race, thanks to the local political machine and a deep-pocketed candidate. On Tuesday, Randolph Township Mayor Tom MacArthur, is expected to defeat a spirited challenge from a tea-party-aligned frequent candidate, Steve Lonegan. The stakes for this South Jersey open seat are high: The race is rated a Tossup by the Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call, and the district includes the pricey Philadelphia media market.

The National September 11 Memorial Museum has pulled its controversial commemorative cheese platter from its shelves after an outcry at the museum’s opening. The USA-shaped platter featured hearts over New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania, where the planes crashed on 9/11. The item was first reported by Gothamist a week ago and was met with resounding criticism.

One week to the June 3rd GOP primary for senator in New Jersey! This week is CRUCIAL for Rich Pezzullo, as he is running in perhaps the most underwatched yet IMPORTANT primary in the country. He is polling either #1 or #2, depending on the poll or the flavor of the day. Nonetheless, he is the most consistently conservative candidate in the race who will caucus with the Ted Cruz / Mike Lee wing of the Republican Party if he wins the primary, then beats Cory Booker. I'll be blunt: This race is not just important for the senate seat,...

Now that it has passed the New Jersey Assembly, a new law intended to restrict the rights of gun owners heads to the desk of Governor Chris Christie. It’s being billed as legislation to “restrict magazine size” in the Garden State. The New Jersey state Assembly on Thursday sent Governor Chris Christie a gun control bill that would limit the capacity of gun ammunition magazines, but it was unclear whether the Republican governor would sign the measure into law… The bill, approved in the Assembly by a 44-34 vote, would cut the maximum capacity of gun magazines to 10 from...

Early this month I wrote about New Jersey’s “smart” gun mandate. The statute bans the sale of all ordinary handguns in New Jersey within 30 months of the date when “at least one manufacturer has delivered at least one production model of a personalized handgun to a registered or licensed wholesale or retail dealer in New Jersey or any other state.” N.J. Stats. sect. 2C:58–2.2 et seq. A so-called “smart” gun is one with some kind of technology such that only the owner is supposed to be able to fire it. As detailed in my previous post, American police and...

Steve Lonegan, a libertarian-leaning former mayor, is running slightly behind self-funded insurance executive Tom MacArthur in a sharp-elbowed New Jersey GOP primary race for a House seat. The two candidates clashed repeatedly during a May 21 radio show, when MacArthur portrayed Lonegan as a big spender, and Lonegan portrayed MacArthur as a crony capitalist tool of the Chamber of Commerce. Lonegan said that MacArthur won the chamber’s support by agreeing to back the “comprehensive immigration reform” plan, which would increase levels of immigration. “You have to answer ‘yes’ to that question to get that endorsement,” Lonegan said.

Parents of children killed in the 2012 Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting joined Democrats Thursday in calling on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to sign a ban on ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. The measure was passed by the New Jersey Assembly Thursday and will now go to Christie for his consideration. It previously passed the state Senate. The Republican governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate signed many firearms bills into law last year. But he issued conditional vetoes of some of the more contentious ones, including a ban on .50-caliber rifles. …

For Michael Powell, a 53-year-old ex-convict, his tent off the highway in Camden, N.J., is what he has called home for nearly a decade. But on Tuesday, he and dozens of others living in homeless encampments known as “tent cities” throughout Camden were forced out—leaving many of them homeless all over again. The eviction was conducted by the state of New Jersey, as well as Camden county and city, for health and safety reasons. […] Amid the commotion on Tuesday, Gino Lewis, director of housing at the Camden County Improvement Authority, assured people that the county would work to find...
