Or he would if here to witness this debacle...    The price of apathy in public affairs is to be ruled by evil men  Rhetoric is the art of ruling the minds of men  Whatever deceives men seems to produce a magical enchantment  Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws  Only the dead have seen the end of war  Justice means minding one's own business and not meddling with other men's concerns  Ignorance, the root and...

This is amazing history. Be sure to read the quotes in BOLD at the end. Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped. At 5, began studying under his cousin's tutor. At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French. At 14, studied classical literature and additional languages. At 16, entered the College of William and Mary. Also could write in Greek with one hand while writing the same in Latin with the other. At 19, studied law for 5 years starting under George Wythe. At 23, started his own law practice. At...

2013 is coming to a close, and unfortunately it appears the debates and controversies will continue into 2014. One thing I'm thankful for is that politicians and personalities love to talk. I present to you some of the more memorable quotations from 2013. As a reminder, memorable does not necessarily mean prolific, inspirational or historical. In fact, some of them might become the annoying song you can't get out of your head. "I think Barack knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is ... He knows how perceptive he is. He knows...

“The realities are that, you know, as a black man, you know, Barack can get shot going to the gas station, you know.” ― Michelle Obama "(America is) just downright mean." "This is who we are. I've got a loud mouth. "You know, he’s (Barack) got a healthy ego because anybody who decides they’re gonna be president of the United States has to think well of themselves." "We've been nullified by the fear mongers, you know? It's almost as if people have voted against their best personal issue interests because they've been so afraid of what could happen. You know,...

A lie told often enough becomes the truth. The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation. One man with a gun can control 100 without one. It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed. There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel. The goal of socialism is communism. Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism. When one makes a Revolution, one cannot mark time; one must...

The Washington state health exchange site was the toast of the communistic-takeover-of-healthcare town for a while. But now the cancer that is the federal government’s botched roll out of the Affordable Care Act has spread to the Evergreen state. Washington’s Heath Benefits Exchange said today that a miscommunication between it and the federal government caused the online system to quote health care premiums that were lower than what people were actually entitled to. The exchange says 8,000 people were affected. We have a call in to see how far off the calculations were. The customers affected will be receiving letters...

A man whose wit was matched only by the looseness of his tongue, the combative John Adams quickly acquired a hefty reputation for articulate jabs and razor-sharp put-downs... 1. On Benjamin Franklin “His whole life has been one continued insult to good manners and to decency.”2. On Alexander Hamilton “That bastard brat of a Scottish peddler! His ambition, his restlessness and all his grandiose schemes come, I'm convinced, from a superabundance of secretions, which he couldn't find enough whores to absorb!”(Hamilton certainly wasn't above returning the fire.)3. On Thomas Paine's Common Sense “What a poor, ignorant, malicious, crapulous mass.”(For more...

Walter Williams is a veteran, a professor of economics at George Mason University, a syndicated columnist, a fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh and an author of eight books. Williams has one of the finest minds in America as you're about to see as you read these quotations. 20) How many times have we heard “free tuition,” “free health care,” and free you-name-it? If a particular good or service is truly free, we can have as much of it as we want without the sacrifice of other goods or services. Take a “free” library; is it really free? The answer is...

"Those gentlemen, who will be elected senators, will fix themselves in the federal town, and become citizens of that town more than of your state." --George Mason, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788

Margaret Thatcher has left us. Other than Winston Churchill, she was the finest leader to come out of Europe in the last century. She helped Britain recover economically, she stood shoulder to shoulder with Reagan against the Soviet Union and she set a fine example not just for Brits, not just for women, but for everyone to follow. If we had more leaders with Margaret Thatcher's heart, courage and wisdom, this would be a different, better world. As you read these quotes from one of the towering figures of the 20th century, you'll see why. 25) "Being powerful is like...

There are still people in my (conservative) party who believe in consensus politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors- I mean it. Pennies do not come from heaven. They have to be earned here on earth. Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous- you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides. To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukemia with leeches. There can be no liberty unless there is economic liberty. People think that at the top there isn't much room. They tend to think of it as an Everest. My message...

1) "(Obama’s) a nice person, he’s very articulate this is what’s been used against him, but he couldn’t sell watermelons if it, you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic." -- Dan Rather 2) “White folks was in the caves while we [blacks] was building empires … We built pyramids before Donald Trump ever knew what architecture was … we taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it." -- Al Sharpton 3) "‘Hymies.’ ‘Hymietown.’" -- Jesse Jackson’s description of New York City while on the 1984 presidential campaign...

Mark Levin points out, as he says Aaron Klein also noted today, that in Obama’s speech in Jerusalem today he quoted Saul Alinsky to his Israeli college audience, encouraging them to create the change they want to see and basically do and end-run around their leadership to make peace. But Mark Levin wonders, rhetorically of course, why Obama doesn’t quote James Madison in the Middle East, or Edmund Burke, or Moses or even Jesus? No, he choose to quotes Saul Alinsky. Mark Levin asks “what the hell is he doing there?” Listen to the full clip:

20) “I was told I got 10 measly minutes, but just in case, I brought 13 hours worth of material.” -- Rand Paul 19) “American Journalism is dead… They have behaved like hockey goalies in front of Barack Obama’s net.” -- Roger Noriega 18) “The GOP of old has grown old and moss covered.” -- Rand Paul 17) “If standing for liberty and the Constitution makes you a Wacko Bird, then count me a proud Wacko Bird.” -- Ted Cruz 16) “If these experts keep losing elections, keep raking in millions, if they feel that strongly about who should run...

Former New York City mayor Ed Koch died Friday morning at the age of 88. He plans to be buried in Manhattan, the three-term mayor said in 2008. His headstone and a memorial bench, placed at Trinity Church Cemetery in 2009, evoke his faith and his admiration of a murdered journalist. Koch explained his plans to the Associated Press: The marker will bear the Star of David and a Hebrew prayer, “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.” It also will be inscribed with the last words of journalist Daniel Pearl before he was murdered by...

25) "A woman who demands further gun control legislation is like a chicken who roots for Colonel Sanders." -- Larry Elder 24) "I’ve been to dozens of Tea Party rallies. I’ve given at least a half a dozen or more speeches. I have not yet to find the first racist comment or the first person who approaches me from a racist perspective. I will speak very clearly here. Racism is a part of a lot of things in our country. Good people are the predominant fact of our country. I simply don’t get it. There are good people and bad...

Today we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Isn’t it odd, with all of the great quotes from him, that we rarely hear many of them referenced. “Never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was legal.” “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.” “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” “The time is always right to do what is right.” “Our lives begin to...
