A security guard foiled a robbery attempt late Saturday when he fatally shot a gunman inside a south Kansas City International House of Pancakes. Shortly after 11 p.m., Kansas City police responded to a disturbance call at the restaurant at 8932 Hillcrest Road. They learned en route that a shooting had occurred. By the time officers arrived, the would-be robber had been shot in the upper chest. Authorities found the 47-year-old man lying on the floor by the counter when they arrived. INDIANAPOLIS -- Police said a Pizza Hut delivery man fatally shot a man who tried to rob him Monday night. It happened in the 3600 block of Long Wharf Drive around 11 p.m. Police said Ronald Honeycutt, 38, of Carmel, was delivering pizza to an apartment complex when Jerome Brown, 20, of Indianapolis, attempted to rob him. Honeycutt was able to take the Brown's gun away from him and fired 15 rounds from his own gun, striking Brown several times, according to police. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died, RTV6 reproted.

Portsmouth police say they have three robbery suspects in custody, after the owner of a clothing store they were attempting to rob decided to take matters into his own hands. MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) -- Two would-be robbers left an Indiana convenience store empty-handed after getting into an argument about the contents of a note they handed to the clerk. The Shelby County prosecutor's office has decided not to prosecute two residents who shot and killed robbers. District Attorney General Bill Gibbons said yesterday his office won't prosecute Jason Filippelli. The 22-year-old Filippelli was using an A-T-M Friday night when two men jumped him. Authorities say 21-year-old Ricky Ricardo Wilborn and 24-year-old Ali Ford took the money Filippelli had withdrawn and demanded more, forcing the victim to drive them to his home. PORTERVILLE - It was business as usual this morning at Sherwood Handy Market, even though just hours earlier a shooting occurred during a robbery attempt. Tulare County sheriff's detectives said on Monday night a clerk was shot in the leg and there was an exchange of gunfire outside the store as the would-be robbers fled, empty-handed.
