A high school student was injured and one person was being sought after a shooting at a high school in southern Louisville, police said Tuesday. The student had non-life threatening injuries and was reunited with parents at University Hospital, Officer Phil Russell said. He didn't say if the injured student and shooter knew each other or if the shooter was a student at Fern Creek Traditional High School. Russell said the suspect left the 1,400-student school immediately after firing the shot. "It appears it is an isolated incident that happened just inside the school," Russell said. "Obviously a large crime...

After Tuesday’s shooting at an Oregon high school, many media outlets, including CNN, reported that there have been 74 school shootings in the past 18 months. That’s the time period since the December 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where 20 children and six adults were shot to death. The statistic came from a group called Everytown for Gun Safety, an umbrella group started by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a passionate and public advocate of gun control. Without a doubt, that number is startling. So on Wednesday, CNN took a closer look at the...

Parents in Gilford New Hampshire went to a school board meeting to get answers as to why they were not notified that their children would be reading the book "Nineteen Minutes" which details, among other things, a violent sexual encounter between teenagers. On a day when we also hear that a California school district was trying to move forward with a "lesson plan that instructed middle school students to make arguments denying the Holocaust happened," isn't this the type of parental involvement we should be encouraging? I can understand if he was being abusive or if he kept the meeting...

A teenager described as a model student shot a teacher and a police officer dead and took more than 20 of his schoolmates hostage in a Moscow classroom. The suspect was disarmed and detained about an hour after the shootings after talking to his father, the owner of the two rifles with which he forced his way into the school. The incident began when the attacker cocked a gun at a guard who tried to stop him entering the school, the federal Investigative Committee said. The attacker knocked on the door of the class about five minutes after the start...

Moscow police say a student burst into a high school Monday with a rifle and fatally shot a police officer and a teacher before briefly taking a class full of children hostage. Investigators told the Associated Press that the student had been taken into custody alive. Details of the student's identity were not immediately available. Russia Today reported that the gunman entered School No. 263 and threatened the school's security guard before making his way to a biology classroom, where he took 29 10th-grade students hostage before releasing most of them soon after. It is not clear when the rest of...

MOSCOW - A 10th-grade student armed with two rifles burst into his Moscow school on Monday and killed his 76-year-old geography teacher and a policeman before being taken into custody, investigators said. None of the children in School No. 263 at the time were hurt, said Karina Sabitova, a police spokeswoman at the scene. The school is for children in grades one through 11, as is typical in Russia. The student gunman also seriously wounded a second police officer who had responded to an alarm from the school, police said. Such shootings in Russian schools are extremely rare, but Moscow...

Well, this will probably be the last you ever hear about Adam Lanza from the mainstream media. The state’s attorney report on the horrific murders at the Sandy Hook Elementary School by shooter Adam Lanza found no “conclusive motive” for his actions but did document unsettling facts about the 20-year-old killer, including computer files he kept on the rights of pedophiles, a movie about man/boy love, instant messages concerning “homosexual fantasies,” numerous mass murder documents, and a computer game entitled “School Shooting.”In “School Shooting,” an amateur computer game, “the player controls a character who enters a school and shoots at...

On Monday's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, MSNBC's Richard Wolffe mocked NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre for asserting a year ago that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," by using the example of Antoinette Tuff, who last August heroically talked a gunman in a school into surrendering. Wolffe treated one exceptional and unlikely case as if it proved LaPierre wrong as he awarded Tuff the show's "person of the year" award. Wolffe:

Police in southern Colorado say they thwarted a school shooting plot by two teenagers, one of whom idolized mass shooters, just a week after a student opened fire in the halls of a suburban Denver high school. Police Chief Charles Glorioso said Friday that the department’s school resource officer got a tip Thursday that two boys, ages 15 and 16, planned to carry out the attack at Trinidad High School after winter break. [Snip] Glorioso said investigators learned the 15-year-old had been bullied and had said he idolized the Columbine High School and Colorado theater shooters.

CENTENNIAL—Democrats have long insisted the state’s new gun laws were passed to help stop mass shootings, but Gov. John Hickenlooper said Sunday that the measures did nothing to prevent a teen gunman from storming Arapahoe High School. In an interview on CBS-TV’s “Face the Nation,” the Democratic governor was asked why the laws failed to avert Friday’s shooting at the suburban high school. “You actually passed some pretty tough gun laws out there in Colorado after those other incidents happened, and yet they continue to happen,” said moderator Bob Schieffer. Hickenlooper responded that Coloradans “care deeply” about two things: protecting...

The mainstream media is showing its collective bias as usual in the recent reporting over the Colorado school shooting last week. At the Arapahoe High School, eighteen year old Karl Halverson critically wounded one female student (who is still in a coma) before taking his own life. He was armed with a shotgun, three molotov cocktails, and a machete and it appears he was after the school librarian, Tracy Murphy, who was the debate coach. It seems that Halverson got kicked off the team and wanted revenge. As the media frenzy continues over the story, a few facts are being...

Right-wing politics are key to a murderer’s motivations; leftism must be ignored.Let me venture a guess, and wager that you have heard very little about the political preference of the young man who, on Friday, walked into his high school and tried to murder his teacher. On the face of it, this is a blessing, for in all but the most extreme cases a murderer’s ideological proclivities are wholly irrelevant to his crime. The “why” really matters when a terrorist group shoots up a mall, because the “why” explains the action. But when a man bears a grudge against his...
