A Swedish man who spotted a rare white moose returned the next day and managed to capture video of the creature taking a dip in a local lake. Hans Nilsson said he has been trying to catch a glimpse of the rumored white moose -- sometimes known as an elk in Sweden -- in the Eda region for several years, but he never actually found one until last week. Nilsson posted a video to Facebook showing his second encounter with the alabaster moose, one day after his original sighting. "This white elk bull is local to the area. I saw...

Augustus Invictus, a former Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. Senate from Orlando most famous for saying he sacrificed a goat and drank its blood, had an important role in the white nationalist “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville on Saturday. Invictus, 34, was listed as a featured marcher for the Saturday event, which was roundly condemned after marchers carried Nazi flags, performed Hitler salutes and chanted white supremacist and anti-Semitic sayings while carrying torches. He could not be reached for comment Monday. Invictus lost the 2016 Libertarian primary for U.S. Senate in Florida to Paul Stanton, but not before state...

Things you don't expect to happen on the golf course. Christer Sjögren had an unusual experience on Karlstad golf course when instead of an eagle or a birdie, he ran into an elk calf. When the young elk started chasing him, he ran, all while his friends laughed at him. His friend Tony Swahn, who shot the video, told The Local it had gone viral in Sweden. "It has really spread," he said. Sweden has seen violent elk attacks in the past, however in this case everything worked out well in the end, after the young animal slowly walked off...

The sidebars are missing when I access Free Republic with my laptop and desktop. Checked the laptop my wife uses, and no problem there. The settings on all three appear to be the same. Anyone else experiencing this? Free cheese to anyone who can help me. Thanks in advance (thanks also from my sister and her moose).

I am so tired of listening to liberals and weak Republicans arguing about a wall along our southern border that I want to scream. However, at this late date, I’m beginning to see their point. It IS expensive. It CAN be breached with a tall enough ladder. It CAN have holes cut in it. I finally have a cheap, foolproof, workable solution. Why don’t we just allocate a ½ mile wide strip as “No Man’s Land” and plant land mines in it. That would be simple, cheap, fast, and very effective. Plus, we would be notified every time one of...

Every autumn in recent years our boreal neighbors in Sweden and Norway have regaled the rest of the world with tales of drunken moose. In most of the stories, the moose have gotten smashed eating fermented apples, the active ingredient in applejack. Recently, near Stockholm, a "mob of boozed-up moose" threatened a homeowner, daring him to step into his own garden. The online magazine Slate called the news brief issued by Radio Sweden "the best thing on the Internet today." Sweden and Norway have lots of moose and loads of apple trees. Alaska has fewer moose and a paucity of...

A family in the US state of Idaho had quite a shock when they awoke to find a moose had fallen into their home. The animal tumbled through an unlatched window into the basement of the property in the community of Hailey, in the state of Idaho. According to the Idaho Mountain Express, the female moose spent about three hours in the house after the mishap early on Sunday morning. Wildlife officials sedated the animal before releasing it unharmed. Homeowner Julie Emerick told the Mountain Express: "She was absolutely the most polite, gracious beast that you could have in your...

The law was passed in 1919 under pressure from the Ku Klux KlanA nun in Nebraska who teaches in a secondary school has been told that she is not allowed to wear her habit in the classroom. 37-year-old, Sister Madeleine Miller, was shocked to learn that, under a little-known law nearly a century old, habits were banned. The vaguely worded ban prohibits teachers from wearing any sort of religious clothing, from burqas to yarmulkes. “I could have been arrested, jailed, fined or had my license taken away if I had tried to teach,” Miller said on Tuesday. Now, state lawmakers are...

Are we headed towards another civil war? Can one be avoided? When you step back and see the ravenous hunger that the MSM has to bring down President Trump.... how they will spin and magnify and they glory in and relish in their own faults narratives… How they overload the echo chamber of news…until their masters create a crescendo.. Can the second civil war be avoided? War IS a real possibility! I fear possibly inevitable! Why? Because of who controls the news today… ...They will not let up… They have no conscience… They have no morals… They only have one...

A moose was spotted in a parking lot at Bradley Airport this morning and it was captured on video. The moose got trapped in the parking lot of Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Bradley International Airport and Route 20 was briefly shut down while a team of Troopers, East Granby police and a crew from Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection corralled it back to open woods and swamp land. Moose are the largest members of the deer family.

Captured in this video, the great white moose, the most majestic creature you’ve ever seen. We’ve seen our fair share of odd-colored animals, including a blue lobster and blue lingcod, but this all white, albino moose might take the cake. Check it out . . . even the velvet on the growing antlers is snow white! This majestic looking moose is basically equivalent to an Alaskan unicorn, and the fact that human population is so small in Alaska, makes this footage even more rare. This is a good reason why you should always have a camera on hand anytime you’re...

Rise in production comes just as exports are hit by strong dollar; can you eat three pounds more?

America has built up a glut of cheese so big that every person in the country would need to eat an extra 3 pounds this year to work it off.

Dear Sister and Viking Kitty, Yes, I've been gone a long time. You see-- I was determined to become a professional blogger here at FreeRepublic. But after carefully juggling many electrons into halfway (halfwit?) decent posts, Jim 'Swiss Family' Robinson told me that I was not actually blogging, because FR is a FORUM, not a blog. I was stuned. Stymied. And, he told me he wasn't going to pay me for my posts or my barbed wire--and neither should I--taxpayer dollars should have built that wall decades ago. SO ..instead of getting a blogger stipend, I donated to FReepathons. Hope...

Last week, 117 "members of the Republican national security community" signed an open letter condemning Donald Trump. It made me think the bellicose billionaire, the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, is not quite as bad as I thought. "His vision of American influence and power in the world is wildly inconsistent and unmoored in principle," the letter complains. "He swings from isolationism to military adventurism within the space of one sentence." Although there is some truth to that critique, an inconsistent skepticism of foreign intervention is better than none at all. That is why I have trouble agreeing with...

Donald Trump continues his dominance in the southern states by picking up Louisiana handily over Sens. I have been a radio talk show host for 33 years, nationally syndicated for 18. I have never experienced anything similar to what I am experiencing now. Until recently, the only hate mail I ever received was from a small number people on the left. The major reason for this, I am convinced, is that I don't yell at callers and I treat callers who disagree with respect. Reading my emails these days is a brand new experience. I receive hate mail, sometimes laced with obscenities, from Republicans.
