One of ChinaÂ’s renowned ancient towns was under water on Wednesday as heavy rain hit the centre of the country, with tens of thousands of people evacuated from the area. The old town district of Fenghuang nestles on the banks of a winding river in a picturesque, mountainous part of Hunan province, and boasts stunning Qing and Ming dynasty architecture dating back hundreds of years. [Â…] According to ChinaÂ’s official Xinhua news agency, the Tuojiang river in the town had reached 1.1 meters above its previous highest recorded level, and several bridges had been damaged or destroyed. For business graduates, job placement appears to be on par with last year, if not slightly better, and salaries are holding firm. At a recent open house for parents of incoming freshmen business students at Bentley University, Career Services Director Len Morrison had an encouraging message to share. Recent graduates have been landing jobs with ease, and companies have been flocking to campus, many making multiple hires, Morrison said. “I told them that I don’t think there is a better time to be graduating as a business student,” he said. “The economy is back and looks like it is moving...

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use of...

EPC religious organizations demand attention for other reasons than sheer numbers. First, EPC churches draw people together on a much more regular consistent basis than other types of civic organizations, such as ethnic advocacy groups. Some EPC adherents in our study attend services or Bible studies four times a week throughout the year. Second, an EPC pastor or religious leader is more than a trusted community to their church or temple members.

Has anyone seen the new TV series, "Tyrant"? It has to do with terrorism and tyranny and tells it from the perspective of the terrosrist's perspective. It portrays the Muslims speaking English while wearing their hijabs and other Muslim attire. I get the feeling that the show was produced to make the Muslims appear more "American" friendly and suspect its a veiled attempt to introduce their lifestyle to Americans to familiarize them with their culture incrementalism style. It would take an idiot to not understand the implications and intentions therein.

The boss/employee relationship has an inherent inequality of power, and since knowledge is power, most bosses will want to keep some knowledge to themselves and away from employees. Doing so often involves telling the following lies: 1. “We can't pay you more.” If a company has any cash flow whatsoever, the boss is making decisions about where to spend based on what the boss feels is a priority. Your salary isn’t the priority, so can’t really means won’t. Since your compensation always reflects the minimum your boss believes you’ll accept, when you hear this lie, it’s a signal that you...

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed...

Everyone knows there are gays and lesbians in everybody’s family. And no office would be complete without a sassy gay character. And just about every other kid in high school is wresting with his sexuality. I know. I watch TV. Except it isn’t true, and the Centers for Disease Control just proved it. A new comprehensive study by the CDC with over 33,000 participants has confirmed earlier estimates; less than 3 percent of the U.S. population self-identifies as gay, lesbian or bisexual. Earlier, much smaller-scale surveys have put that number at 4 percent. The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), published...

No, your eyes do not deceive you and thankfully this is no joke — Marvel has given an upgrade to one of its biggest superheroes. And by that we mean: there’s a new superlady in town and she’s wielding the hammer of Thor! As announced on “The View,” and confirmed by Marvel, a new comic written by Jason Aaron, with art by Russell Dauterman will launch ongoing this Fall, after the original God of Thunder loses the ability to wield his signature hammer. Thor doesn’t just look like a lady with those long and luscious Norse locks of his —...

Fellow conservatives, now is the time for us to decide on a 2016 Presidential candidate. With Hillary the ostensible and heavily flawed democratic nominee, we must decide early and decisively on a conservative contender. We cannot have years of dumb debates that let the democrats chew us up and continue their regime of destruction. Here are some of my handicaps for the 2016 election. 1.Christie - definitely a RINO, back stabbing, recent convert to pro-life positions. -I cannot vote for this man! 2. Jeb Bush - perhaps the most competent of the Bushes, but now way. Way too many Bushes...

On July 13, 1984, the young stars of The Last Starfighter saw their careers blast off into outer space, as a friendship was born that carries on three decades later. Today marks the 29th anniversary of the original theatrical release of the groundbreaking sci-fi classic The Last Starfighter, so we figured it’s a perfect time to take a fun look back at the film through the eyes of its stars, Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart, both of whom attended a Q&A panel at the second Blood at the Beach Convention in Virginia Beach in 2012. Guest plays Alex Rogan,...

AURORA, Ill. – A Hobby Lobby store in Illinois is facing a discrimination complaint after a ‘transgender’ employee was told that he may not use the women’s restroom until he has reconstructive surgery to switch from male to female reproductive organs. He has worked for Hobby Lobby since 1998, at which time he identified as male. However, in 2009, Sommerville began transitioning to look like a woman and changed his name. According to Sommerville, Hobby Lobby accommodated him by changing his gender in the company records...

I want to know why no one from CITIBANK is going to jail. The Federal Reserve bails out CITI, the tax payer pays the bill. The Dept.of Justice gets the.money. Now I know I am just S.Texas Tea Party Patriot, trying to stop the influx down here, but how come no white collars are going to prison? Us Americans are getting gangbanged by the government in every hole and wallet. Time to fly the flag upside down and get to work protecting our way of life. O one reason why the illegals are getting shipped all over America is because...

Can't get your children to eat their vegetables or clean up their toys? Game theory offers some solutions. The party is over, and you're down to the last bit of cake. All three of your children want it. If you're familiar with game theory, you might think of the classic strategy in which one person cuts the cake and the other chooses the slice. But how do you divide it three ways without anyone throwing a fit? Game theory is, in essence, the science of strategic thinking—a way of making the best decision possible based on the way you expect...
