  • Not the Homily I expected

It appears that the Catholic Diocese of Galveston/Houston decided to hijack July 3-4 homilies across the Houston area to push liberal theories of immigration down the throats of the congregants. It certainly was not what I was expecting on our Independence Day. It appears Catholics were not alone in being lectured to on liberal talking points. According to the Houston Chronicle, a group calling itself The Metropolitan Organization made a "coordinated effort" to "organiz(e) churches to pressure government to change immigration laws." Obviously the group got to Cardinal DiNardo, the leader of the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston. According to our parish...
  • Scarborough Rips 'Cheeto' Chomping Bloggers For Criticizing Mika

Yesterday, Joe Scarborough and Jack Welch ribbed Mika Brzezinski for her reading of White House talking points on the oil spill. But after bloggers including this one reported Mika's admission that she was "working with the White House" on the matter, Scarborough has this morning gone all Sir Galahad. The Morning Joe host said he wasn't going to "call them names," but then went on to mockingly imitate bloggers fulminating through their Cheetos. View video here.

Cut out the middle-woman and install Obama's teleprompter on the Morning Joe set . . . Give her high marks for candor: on today's show, Mika Brzezinski admitted that she has been "working with the White House" on oil spill talking points. But that still leaves the issue of the journalistic propriety of someone in Brzezinski's position serving as such a blatant shill for the president. H/t tip NB reader Ray R. Mika could be seen reading from her notes during exchanges with former GE CEO Jack Welch, who was critical of the PBO's handling of the spill. After repeated...

Experts wonder whether U.S. has a real Israel strategy or 'talking points' By Glenn Kessler Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, March 20, 2010; A06 The Obama administration signaled Friday that its 10-day spat with Israel may be nearing an end, with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton declaring to the BBC that the confrontation "is paying off" and would lead to a resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. But as the dust from the diplomatic tussle settles, some analysts are questioning what the administration actually gained from it -- and whether U.S. officials have a strategy to achieve...
  • "Arguing global warming with Arnold (Schwarzenegger)"

We recently offered tips on "What to say to a warmer" for when Al Gore or a fellow global warming alarmist comes to dinner. This week, we suggest: "What to say to a warmist named Schwarzenegger," in case the Terminator drops by. California has the most destructive and costly global warming law in the nation, if not the world. In a perverse way, it's the governor's crowning achievement. That says a lot about a fellow who drove the state into virtual bankruptcy, accelerated unemployment to at least 12 percent, while dramatically increasing government spending, taxes and the government payroll. But...
  • DCCC Fuel For the Turkey Day Food Fight

As you head out over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house for a fine Thanksgiving turkey, consider yourself forewarned that cousin Cathy and Aunt Alice, the family flaming libs, have been armed with Democrat talking points to stoke the fire in the annual Thanksgiving political brawl.   Control issues much?  The downloadable cheat sheet gives a list of potential myths the family conservatives might trot out and supplies the family liberals with "facts" for effective "myth-busting." First off, the term myths, as used by liberals, requires an Inigo Montoya retort: " You keep using that word. I do...

I just returned from a Tom Coburn Town Hall Meeting this morning. While waiting to get in line a woman carrying a 'Public Option' sign up and down the line stopped, looked me directly in the face and said 'You're A Racist'. She didn't know me from Adam. In addition she and her cohorts let someone cut in line.

Do you notice the same things? No matter which site I go to on the Internet these days, if there is a comment section, you will see about half and half pro and con depending on your own particular viewpoint. I am a strong Conservative, and I have never tried to cover up that fact or mislead anyone in my opinion. All conservative viewpoints are almost immediately attacked. Talking Point Number One used by the Liberals is one that automatically sends me through the roof! “Conservatives are racists!” One of my conservative-minded co-patriots will inevitably come back with, “Oh, yeah?...

Frank Benenati, regional press secretary for the Democratic National Committee, is circulating a memo by e-mail about strategies right-wing groups are using to "harass" Democratic members of Congress as they talk about health care and energy policy... Right-Wing Harassment Strategy Against Dems Detailed In Memo: 'Yell,' 'Stand Up And Shout Out,' 'Rattle Him' Politico reported that Democratic members of Congress are increasingly being harassed by "angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior" at local town halls... Part of me wonders if this reported tactic isn't a facet of plain, old-fashioned free speech. Don't these groups have a right to show up...

Memory eventually fails us all, but apparently the decline strikes one party far more than the other. In recent weeks, my friends across the aisle have expended a lot of breath proclaiming that the Democrats caused the present financial crisis by failing to pass legislation to regulate financial services companies in the years 1995 through 2006. There is only small one problem with this story -- throughout this entire period the Republicans were in complete charge of the House and for the most critical years they controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. In the House of Representatives, the...

When the media keep repeating that someone is beyond the pale, some people are bound to believe them. Recent events show that radicals will even try to kill people who have been demonized in this manner. Perhaps that is the goal behind the policy of demonization: to neutralize and remove the people’s democratically elected representatives. Recently, we are being confronted with the bizarre phenomenon of defenders of Western freedoms, including Jews, being demonized as “Nazis,” while subsequently Nazi methods are used to eliminate them. The authorities, meanwhile, do not come to the aid of the victims since the latter are...

Democrat Barack Obama said today there is no reason to believe that he is more likely to be tested by an international crisis if elected than if rival John McCain is, and said the important question is how the next president responds. "Whoever is the next president is going to have to deal with a whole host of challenges internationally -- and a period of transition in a new administration is always one in which we have to be vigilant," Obama said after meeting here with his team of national security and foreign policy advisers. He was responding to a...

I know something about debates and considered myself pretty good at it! Already emailed to McCain people. I think some of these would make good ads, talking points with media, undecided friends too. 1. Obama's rhetoric on poor and innocent people To listen to Sen. Obama talk, he makes you FEEL like he care for the little guys, but watch his action. There his half brother, poor George living on a $ a day in Kenya, and Desousa & many Republicans, Christians are raising funds to help him since Obama doesn’t give a hoot. Sen. Obama doesn’t want you to...

Read the full list of talking points below. THE RULES AND BYLAWS COMMITTEE DECISION * Yesterday’s results are a victory for the people of Florida who will have a voice in selecting our Party’s nominee and will see its delegates seated at our party’s convention. The decision by the Rules and Bylaws Committee honors the votes that were cast by the people of Florida and allocates the delegates accordingly. * We strongly object to the Committee’s decision to undercut its own rules in seating Michigan’s delegates-the decision does not reflect the votes of the people of Michigan. * The Committee...

Cameras that automatically record red light violators and provide the means for issuing citations by mail have been shown to reduce the collision toll under some circumstances over the past few years. However, the success of a camera program depends upon many good decisions being made by the responsible jurisdiction and engineers. This course will...
