How Europeans evolved white skin

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI—Most of us think of Europe as the ancestral home of white people. But a new study shows that pale skin, as well as other traits such as tallness and the ability to digest milk as adults, arrived in most of the continent relatively recently. The work, presented here last week at the 84th annual meeting of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists, offers dramatic evidence of recent evolution in Europe and shows that most modern Europeans don’t look much like those of 8000 years ago.
The origins of Europeans have come into sharp focus in the past year as researchers have sequenced the genomes of ancient populations, rather than only a few individuals. By comparing key parts of the DNA across the genomes of 83 ancient individuals from archaeological sites throughout Europe, the international team of researchers reported earlier this year that Europeans today are a mix of the blending of at least three ancient populations of hunter-gatherers and farmers who moved into Europe in separate migrations over the past 8000 years. The study revealed that a massive migration of Yamnaya herders from the steppes north of the Black Sea may have brought Indo-European languages to Europe about 4500 years ago.
Now, a new study from the same team drills down further into that remarkable data to search for genes that were under strong natural selection—including traits so favorable that they spread rapidly throughout Europe in the past 8000 years. By comparing the ancient European genomes with those of recent ones from the 1000 Genomes Project, population geneticist Iain Mathieson, a postdoc in the Harvard University lab of population geneticist David Reich, found five genes associated with changes in diet and skin pigmentation that underwent strong natural selection.

But what about making the noses smaller, and other physical traits?
That’s the point about race that everyone ignores. Color IS skin deep, but the DNA differences between races doesn’t stop there obviously. NO one complains when I point out that some races are typically faster, stronger, and can jump high. But if I similarly point out that every race has a different average IQ? RACIST!
There is no way anyone can convince me that all the worlds civilizations came from one area of Africa.
Pure speculation, nothing more. Skin color is only a few base pairs in the DNA, by mutation or inherent DNA. Prove it scientists, they can’t.

While I agree that the need to synthesize vitamin D is a crucial adaptation for Europeans, the biggest driver behind the evolution of European creative genius and planning is the very harsh fact that in Europe you have 4 to 5 months to prepare for 7 to 8 months of starvation in winter. For hundreds of generations many fools died every winter.

Well, have read that thinner noses warm the air, which undergoes turbulence when inhaling, preventing irritation of the mucous membranes of the nose and lungs.
Now...explain the hair.
The bone structure differences.
They’re trying oh, so hard to convince everyone that they are really black...then, they come out and want to kill everyone that has white skin.

Well, you could very well have a point there. No one said evolutionary adaption couldn’t include the brain.
This is just another example of political science, they no doubt feel they’re undoing racism by making presumed racists descendants of those they presumably are racist against. Truth be told it’s all adaptation to regional climate and the “original” human beings looked rather like Middle Easterners, with black people gaining additional melanin to protect them from intense sun, and white people losing it to get more Vitamin D from the sun. That doesn’t score any SJW points though, so we’ve all got to be originally black for them to feel good about themselves.
Yes, there ARE "dark" Hungarians, but that describes hair color!
And since they have discovered human bones, in China, that are far older than the most ancient human bones found in Africa, this whole "story", as far as I'm concerned, is suspect!
And though not names, this report claimed that "MIDDLE EUROPEAN" nations (Austria, Poland,The Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany all fall into this category, if Hungary does! ) are peopled by a whole lot of pale, blonde blue eyed human beings and have been for thousands of years!
Also in this report, they claim that only the ancient people of the Scandinavian nations had pale skin and hair...perhaps brought to them by INDIANS/people from the Steps of Russia? THIS JUST MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!
The hair of an African, thick and curly, would simultaneously dissipate sunlight and cool.
I wouldn’t say everyone came from black....but we all came from one genetic Adam and Eve. We’re all related basically. Even there was once ONE language at one time....hmmmm!!!
If one believes in evolution, then by default, one must also believe that races can be quite different in IQ, sociability, strength, etc...
If every other species evolves different traits according to their environment, then why not humans?
It is the great contradiction and hypocrisy people ignore.
Genetic bottlenecks do tend to weed out the stupid, so populations that have been subjected to harsh situations would tend to gain intelligence as a group over a long period of time whereas populations that have not been subjected to harsh situations would not, there’s nothing external to weed out the stupid.
People do complain when athletic ability is compared.
Obviously the gene can't be inherited in mixed-race marriages, such as when Obama's white mother couldn't pass it on to him because his other parent was non-white.
I guess it must be a recessive gene.
