Sorry about the poopy and gross subject matter here but I need to get this off my chest. I'll hide this post in "Bloggers & Personal" so the regular news-seeking folk don't have to see it.
So it is a somewhat mild autumn day here in New England and thus a perfect day to go on a hike in one of the various state and town forests that abound in this part of Connecticut.
During my walk, I saw at least a half dozen little baggies full of dog poop, all neatly tied off and discarded along the side of the trail. I have been seeing this more and more over the past few years.
Can somebody explain this to me? Why on earth would people think it a good thing to bag up their dog's poop, tie it off, and toss it to the ground in the MIDDLE OF THE WOODS!
I just want to find these people and punch them in the face.
Do these ignoramuses think they are doing a good thing here? It would be far better to just let their dogs poop in the woods like all the other animals living in the woods do so that the feces can quickly decompose and blend into the soil. Where do these people think the deer, squirrels and other woodland creatures crap? Guess what, they are WALKING THROUGH IT!
Don't these people know what soil is mostly made of? Organic matter! Which includes a lot of dead insects, dead plants, dead animals and FECES!
It is much better for the environment to just let the dogs poop in the woods. When they bag it up in plastic and leave it sitting there, it might still be there years from now. All these "do-gooders" are doing is PRESERVING their disgusting dog poop and blighting the landscape with these infernal blue poop-filled baggies.
If anybody has a good reason for this practice of bagging dog poop in the woods and leaving it there, I'd like to hear it.
It used to be that in the USA, bad drivers were the exception, litterers were the exception, etc. The exceptions were almost always immigrants or their children. Now it seem that abusing everyone around you is the norm.
Has anyone looked into “good terrorism”? Maybe a litterer found with their litter stuffed down their throat, properly publicized, could change things? It is what civil justice used to include, but now we are not allowed to hurt people’s feelings....
Pick the worst things in the worst countries and cultures — they’re coming to your neighborhood.
But yes, Sam, I agree with you. Take the dog far into the woods and have it do its business there. If it can’t make it, pick it up and CARRY IT OUT.

In my neighborhood, it is the white folks who do this. There aren’t very many people from “other countries and cultures”.
The cut-to-the-chase answer to your question is that people in general are pretty friggen stupid.
At least these campaign "signs" have truthiness to them.
We have a neighbor across the street who walks their dog up and down our side until it poops, leaves it and goes home. Drives me nuts.
Yeah, that's me sometimes. The dog takes a crap at the beginning of the walk and I don't feel like carrying it with me for 3 or 4 miles.
The true tell is if the bag lies in the same place for a couple of days.

My neighborhood is mostly old W.A.S.P. blood, but the “masses” from the surrounding areas come to “share” our nice things. Those people are mostly white, mostly eastern Europe, mostly fresh over or their parents were. I’ve found that Indians are litterers, and Koreans are not litterers. I’ve found that western Europeans are not litterers and eastern Europeans are litterers.

I remember in the late 60s and into the 70s people routinely threw their trash out the windows. Much less litter now.

When I married, my husband was very young and an only child of a doting mom. We were snacking late at night at his mom’s house, and she had already gone to bed. I asked what we should do with our dishes, and he said with zero guile, “Just leave them here on the counter. In the morning, they will be gone!”
