I was in Pompeii around mid May and for the life of me I don't remember this house. I did take a lot of pictures so I have to go back and look at them. I crammed Herculanium and Pompeii all in one day perhaps that is why I don't remember.

As earthquakes increase, building up to another big eruption, so the danger increases to all in the area, from ancient buildings to modern people. All things come to an end.

The whole area is on top of a gigantic pool of magma. It wiggles; buildings fall over; eventually one of the enormous fumeroles in the area blows its top and people restart the local ecology a decade or more later.
All is forgotten.

Stationed in Naples 1968-71. The worry then was that Vesuvio was plugged up from the 1943 eruption and the pressure caused “bradyseisms” everywhere; portions of streets collapsed like a carrier flight deck elevator, and the long sunken ruins of Ercolano magically reappeared in the Bay of Naples. The fumarole at Solfatara acted strangely, and if the Castel del’ Ovo were to collapse then it was supposed to mean arrivaderci Napoli.

Oh dear :(
One of the best places I've visited was Pompeii. Hope it is still around the next time I go over to Italy.

I’m guessin’ that the “arrested” part of “arrested decay” is not workin’ for either Pompeii or obama.
