Drought in Ireland Leads to Discovery of Neolithic Henge Drone footage captured amid a heatwave close to the 5000-year-old Newgrange neolithic passage tomb in County Meath, Ireland, on July 10 revealed an previously-undiscovered henge, sparking an investigation by the country’s National Monument ServiceThe footage was shot by Ken Williams in Brú na Bóinne, or the Boyne Valley, an area rich in neolithic sites and which was designated a a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.Williams said that were it not for the recent heatwave and drought in the area, the remains of the henge would not have been seen.According to Irish media, the henge may have been built around 500 years after Newgrange, which dates back to 3000 BC. Thanks for the video.
I trust that before telling us here you contacted Georgio Tsoukalos.

Sometimes the news stories in 2018 cover a speculation or theory on one of the episodes of over 10 years on Ancient Aliens. “Actual age of pyramid much older than thought....” and that kind of thing. Fun speculation.

It’s amazing that years of plowing and overgrowth the structure can still be seen overhead.

I can use “google map” and see where old barns, road beds and even fence rows were on our farm, years after the plow and growth has overtaken them.

Of course our farm has a few years to go before it even reaches the 500 years mentioned in the article.

Like by three hundred years so so...

I like it when the use the google thing to find ancient trade routes. The ones through the desert amaze me as I cannot believe that they can still be found, being in a desert and all.

I remember reading of a drought in Europe that was so dry scientists were able to find the remains of 200,000 abandoned ancient towns.

Yes, Two Hundred Thousand is what it said.

I’m not surprised. I’m one of those that believes that we do not have a clue about the ancient history of humans. The muzzies destroyed a library in Alexandria around AD 642 that could have shed a lot of light on our ancient history.

Thanks BBell. If Newgrange dates from 3000 BC, imagine how old OldGrange must be.

It is a huge stonemound, with foundation stones, then larger wall stones, some weighing tons, and a stone and earthen roof. Inside a small narrow passageway to a small central chamber. An alter where remains of the dead are kept, dug up after being buried. At Newgrange, there is a small opening that lines up to let a single shaft of light flood the chamber for only a few minutes exactly at the sun rise of the winter solstice.

To stand in that chamber is an unforgettable experience. There is a lottery to get tickets each year for the limited space.

All built over generations, before the pyramids were built.

What the drone caught was the soil change, still visible after centuries due to the foundation stones.

You can’t begin to imagine the labor involved in transporting the rocks and their size from many miles away.
