Walmart on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against Tesla, accusing the company's solar-energy subsidiary of gross negligence after multiple stores experienced fires they say stemmed from solar panels on their roofs.

but they help save the planet right?
Walmart started using solar panels from SolarCity in 2010.
Tesla bought SolarCity in 2016.
So these arent panels designed by Elon Musks team. But Musk apparently bought the legal liability for them.
Apparently solar panels are great for heating.
Tesla bought Solar City in 2016...WalMart started using Solar City panels/setups in 2010. So I guess Tesla inherited bad product/liability.

They help you.
Only a fool or a slave doesnt avail themselves of solar, micro-hydro and rain harvesting, if practical in their location.
Maybe Walmart can get some of those cool big windmills and attach them to the roof. Solar panels are so 20th century.
Doesn’t the fire help provide energy?
but they help save the planet right?

Well, God says
2 Peter 3:
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a]
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.[b] That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
I have pondered how the end might occur. Super Volcanoes? Asteroids? Earthquakes?
Didn’t figure that Tesla could be part of the equation.
you left off nukes.
Perhaps you were unaware, but "rain harvesting" has legal restrictions in some locations. The same may be true for solar & micro-hydro, given the intrusive nature of some government agencies...
The hallmark of advanced civilizations is specialization and very large, complex networks run by professionals. I pay companies to to generate and deliver my power, my natural gas, and my clean water. I pay other companies to take away the sewage and garbage. It is all trouble free, extremely reliable, and not very expensive.
Why in the world would I want to run a water and power utility on my property? Only a fool would believe he can do these things better and cheaper than the companies that specialize in them. Besides, those companies will dispatch trucks at 3 am to fix failures.
Why would I want to be a slave to such systems on my property?
You are a fool.
460 volt 200 amp demand × 6 air units = 1200 amps being inverted from DC to AC can really go boom. That $hit is not just plug and play. It requires engineering level maintenance weekly.
God was totally responsible for the first, He will be totally responsible for second. It won’t be man made but it will be man caused (our sins). In a twisted way Climate Change is caused by man - just not how scientists and politicians can understand.
That's a relief! I was worried for a second, that any Walmart store that had a solar panel fire might turn into a "brick"!
/sarc
how the hell do you make a solar panel catch fire? bad wire connections?
You are aware I qualified where practical.
I covered legalities by mentioning slaves.
Your guess is as good as mine - electical fires would be an obvious risk with any solar-electric device, but chemical and/or simple thermal ignition might be hazards, as well.
On a somewhat related topic, it can be entertaining to do an internet search for images of "wind generator fire". Renewable energy "ain't all that it's cracked up to be"...
