Well I pretty much wiped out my fine seedlings. Such a good start.

sigh

A couple still growing - Might, MIGHT have some sweet pepper seedlings last - they haven’t grown in awhile but still green and healthy-looking.

So it’s a WalMart garden - 7 potted plants (still in original pots) - 4 tomato, maybe 5, 3 different kinds of tomato among those, a green bell and a red bell.

2 WM sweet basil (potted in another pot) and a rosemary (1 potted same way).

Other than 10 WM plants - 10 green onions going - looking good (THANKS to whoever told me to do that - saved two 50 cent green onion bunches, even in the fridge - planted 5 x 2. About 1/2” long or so. Now the tops are 3”-4” in just a few weeks. I’ll have lots of scallions, it seems.

PLUS the $3 WM red onion bulbs - about 27 planted and hope to start 8-10 tomorrow maybe Tuesday. The 27 have already started good, only been in the soil less than 2 weeks - already sprouting 3” or better. So I’ve still got a lot of bulbs left. We’ll see how many others I can get started. There should still be 70+ in the bag (you get 100 for $3). Some are too small won’t work but most of them are good.

I was doing so well on my seedlings and then..........oops.

"I am a container gardener."

hey I live on 5 acres but all of my garden is in raised boxes or containers....the soil itself is just too hard and sandy for planting...ask my bluberry bushes...

"I was just wondering if it was too late for potatoes...."

I'm central Konnecticut, that's Zone 6A/6B so they should go in April/May - I usually plant them late, only because I don't remember about the potatoes until everything else is in.

So they'll go in today and I just lose a month of potato grownin' - but I'll still get a nice crop in the fall.

"...and added garlic scapes...who knew!"

Mmm, diced up in scrambled eggs - you can do a lot with garlic scapes - what a nice flavor they add.

I’ve always loved Brandywine Tomatoes. My last farm was named, ‘Brandywine Farm.’

Our current farm is named ‘Abandon All Hope Farm,’ LOL!

"We had a 'bad' raccoon in a live trap today."

I've been having raccoon troubles for the first time, ever! Last night they tore apart my elevated planter and stole one of my ceramic mushrooms and got potting soil all over my porch. It was an easy fix, found the mushroom in the lawn, but still - JERKS! I have learned NOT to fill the bird feeders over-night, too!

“I was doing so well on my seedlings and then...oops.”

I was a ‘Paid Professional Gardener/Landscaper’ for many years - I’ve had plenty of failures along the way, too.

Gardening has a learning curve that seems to go on for-EVER! ;)

Diana's Easy Fridge Pickles

Find your favorite BIG jar with a lid. Make sure it's squeaky clean! Peel and slice enough cucumbers, red peppers and sweet onions to fill the jar to the brim. Can add Jalapenos if desired, too. (They shrink when the hot brine hits them.) 2 cups water, 2 cups white vinegar, 2 cups sugar. Boil those together until the sugar is dissolved, stir a few times. (Should just be bubbling; doesn't have to be a rolling boil.) Add 2 Tbsp chopped garlic to the brine, then pour it into the jar. Let the mixture cool, then cap and put in the fridge. Tasty the very next morning. Keep stored in the fridge, and I tip the jar over or shake it up when I think of it. Totally yummy.

Southerners have done something similar for a very long time, but often put a little sugar in to counterbalance the tart and salty. Done in this manner, it can function almost like a chutney with seafood or cooked vegetables. It’s eaten solo as a salad in hot weather.

Something I never almost never talk about on this forum.

I am a poloce officer in a leftist city.

Dodged many bricks, glass bottles, frozen bottles of water, rocks (have one on my dashboard from last night that missed my head and hit team mates calf) traffic cones, pieces of shattered glass.....ate several facefuls of C.S. gas before I could get my gas mask on and my voice is still hoarse this a.m. from coughing it up.

I saw grown men bring their toddler children to a riot right next to burning cop cars and looting Nordstoms and complain that their kid caught a face full of pepper spray and blame the cops.

White guys telling me to die, white young ladies calling me a killer, young black male telling me I am just afraid that my daughter is going to fuck a black guy and that is why I am racist against black people then in the next breath telling me white people are horrible and we should all just die. Then a young white girl came up to me and said she wanted me to give her some bottle water to wash out her pepper sprayed eyes right after calling names.....not even a comma between the name calling and the request for assistance (I ended up giving her a bottle of water.

I also at the same time had an investigator for the defense attorney group tell me how cool it was that she was getting to love through a situation where there is a curfew.

Have conservative friend who texted me asking why we just let people destroy the city.....i avoided telling him to go F himself because ai know he just doesn’t understand what is going on “on the ground”

The antifa/anarchists and college radicals tried to burn down headquarters but the “desk jockey” detectices made a stand and saved it with the help of SWAT and their C.S. gas.

Whwre I work is the largest agency in our state....it took 5 assisting agencies, every blast ball, most of the O.C spray in stocks just to halfway hold back the rioters and even that won’t enough.

They had to get permission to use C.S gas to save headquarters and SWAT went through the entire inventory and had to get more from other agencies.

If it is bad today I hope they flew in some supplies from somewhere else so we have enough

Gotta go...gotta grab my uniform from the dryer and go back to work.

Mother Nature still not sure what kind of weather we will have and I still have the heat on! Pansies blooming profusely, lettuce and arugula doing well. Tomato seeds sprouting. Strangely, the caladium bulbs have not sprouted. They were well cared for during their dormant period so I’m scratching my head over that one. Planted a stem of silk pansies. They are my furry son’s favorite flower. They have been planted in his memory. Sammy passed away recently.

“They have been planted in his memory. Sammy passed away recently.”

Sorry for your loss. I had to put my Basset Hound, Belle, to sleep on Thursday and my Dad died this morning, though not unexpectedly. It has been an awful week. :(

When my Black Lab, Miss Murphy, passed, I planted a yellow dogwood for her, and surrounded the base with bright red tulips. So pretty in the spring!

Life Goes On. :)

Part of me is proud of the citizens coming downtown today to clean up the streets....part of me wishes they would leave it up for a few days so the media cannot skip from “peacefully protest” straight to “look how wonderful our city is” leaving out the part where they tried to kill is and burn down what they couldn’t steal.
