Last week, a high school student brought a book to class for his teacher to review. In the book, there was a quote by Abraham Lincoln that contradicted his history lesson. Suppressed quote:
“Without the military help of the Black Freedmen, the war against the south could not have been won” - President Abraham Lincoln. The student also pointed out that the commonly known story about the Statue of Liberty differed from the actual historical account. The book, titled "The Secret Origins of Black Americans," utilized credible resources from government agencies such as the National Archives and the National Park Service. The teacher graciously permitted the student to share the book with the class. Unfortunately, the student faced disciplinary action and was suspended the next day. This unfortunate situation is occurring in various parts of the country.
“Teachers are concerned that they will be subject to a complaint for simply teaching honestly about U.S. history,” said Deborah Menkart, executive director of Teaching for Change, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building social justice in the classroom.
Menkart co-directs the Zinn Education Project, which hosted a National Teach Truth Day of Action on June 10, along with more than 50 co-sponsoring organizations, including the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Learning for Justice (LFJ) program.
“The critiques seem disingenuous and designed to intimidate or threaten the teacher and limit what can be taught,” Menkart said.
Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia censored materials in schools last year.

I agree, but I still think it’s ridiculous to suspend the statement.
Harry Truman?
I know. I searched for a better version, but this is the only one I could find.
At this point, I’ve come to believe suing these schools is the only way.
This must be silenced!
If victims find out that they actually helped to abolish slavery, how can we convince them that they are still enslaved and oppressed.
Halp!!! Hate Speech Alert!
Howard Zinn and David Barton - malignant cancers on history.
This article provides no overview or details.
Perhaps it’s just the excerpt.
Afraid of teaching the Truth? WTF is wrong with these people, and who exactly is making threats for TELLING THE TRUTH?
“Harry Truman?”
Technically, you’re right, but his nukes were mild compared to the firebombing we did during WW2 (something that we, sadly, had to do).
Today it’s different, as we’re taking FAR HIGHER yields, as in at least 10,000 times of what was dropped on Japan (when totaled up). Back then, it was busting up cities, now it’s busting up planets, or at least the human presence on such.
Make that on our species.
Yeah - I’m going to need an actual source on this story.
Ditto.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the WEF miscreants were behind the threats.
After Gettysburg the victory of the north was inevitable, black troops or not.
Thanks for looking.
I’m absolutely shocked at how bad some writing is these days. This is some of the worst.
It’s hard to tell what happened, but it doesn’t sound good. But it’s impossible to really tell.
An amazingly information-free article. Apparently neither the student, the teacher nor the school had a name and there was no reason why the student was suspended. Since the Zinn Education Project is involved, I expect that they want to imply that those suspending the student were big racist MAGA meanies who were fighting to crush some anti-CRT laws, but they don’t have any facts to prove it.
Here I thought he was going to qutote him on his “if someone calls a leg a tail, is it a tail?” quote....
You're not kidding!!!
An unnamed student, an unnamed teacher, an unnamed high school, an unnamed city, an unnamed state, a reference to a book authored by someone named with only initials, a suspension for an unknown reason, an unknown author of the article.
Yeah! My BS Meter is pegged, too.
Without some of the mid to late 1864 victories like Atlanta, Lincoln and the Republicans could have lost the election. Lincoln was trying to find a way to win the war before McClellan was sworn in in March 1865 if the Democrats had won.
No, it was Vicksburgh.
