An ocean explorer claims to have solved aviation’s greatest mystery by finding the wreckage of Amelia Earhart’s missing plane.
The American aviator’s aircraft vanished over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 during her attempt to become the first woman to fly around the world.
Her unexplained fate has since become a source of widespread speculation as accident investigators were unable to locate her body or any wreckage.

What about a supposed patch from her plane being found on Nikumaroro Island in 1991?
Or pushed over the side of an aircraft carrier.
With WW2, I bet there’s thousands of planes on the bottom of the Pacific that just waiting to be found by so are.
Assuming it’s legitimate, that’s in the general (couple hundred) area. Don’t know if her supposed flight path would be consistent with being on Nikumaroro then going down several hundred miles north. But possibly. My only point was that the image of the plane in an area where there are likely other planes isn’t indicative of much. But it could be her. Need’s to raise funds to send down a submersible of some sort.
Heck, there are 142 WWII planes lost off Chicago in Lake Michigan. I only recall one being found but I'm sure more were. Probably for scrap.. Likely many tens of thousands lost in the Pacific.
The Chinese have been going around the Pacific “mining” wrecks for scrap metal. Often disturbing war graves. I think I read that they were caught trying salvage scrap metal off the Repulse and the Prince of Wales.
Low on the list of Chinese misdeeds, but disgusting.
Or been picked up by the Japanese.
You’re days late reporting on a story that already has been discredited ... twice.

I believe there are quite a lot of aircraft at the bottom of the Pacific in numerous areas. Without a definitive proof this is a big nothing burger.
Meaning they ran out of money and need the media to spin the story to garner more “donors” and replenish their bank accounts.
Well, it does look like a plane, and the other spot looks like Jimmy Hoffa and another spot there must be Al Capones safe!
She wasn’t the first woman to crash a plane, and she won’t be the last.
Not if she held her breath. There is hope yet.
Well at least we got a good Joni Mitchell song out of it.
