So, Obama energizes his base by granting Amnesty, while Romney demoralizes his base by not opposing Amnesty, smart, very smart.

Smart? I disagree. Cultic, yes.

What's being overlooked here is that Romney has to keep in mind that "mormonism is enjoying dramatic growth in Latin America"

Link

Mormon leaders wouldn't be pleased with him if he interfered with the message that 52,000 mormon missionaries are out in the world spreading.

Mitt will take care of his church before considering anything else. Count on it!

Kid I dont give into manipulaters, blackmailers, intimidators etc..

A guy with a gun is just a guy with a gun...

If he has one trained on me he intends to use it...

I dont intend to vote for your boy Willie Mitty either way...

If Willie Mitty is so desparate that he needs to hold me up to steal my vote then maybe he is not the one to lead our country for the next four years...

1. we need someone who knows what they are doing...

2. We need someone with guts and determination

3. we need someone who has confidence in their ability to lead ...

4. we need a leader...

It doesnt sound like you think Willie Mitty has the wherewithal to lead or any confidence in himself...

We dont need a common highwayman...

We need a leader...

Go ahead and shoot if youre going to...

You look silly holding that cap pistol..

“Romney is the better of two evils.”

I’ve concluded Romney is the different of two evils.

He isn’t the solution to the problems we face, and will add additional problems in the future as he continues to revert to who he is.

Only a Republican Party that elects a Congress with balls and fights, will defeat the decline of our nation.
They could fight now. They fight weakly. That is our problem.

To me, the overriding question is, what will galvanize them to fight?

Mitt?
Zero?
Someone or something else?
Nothing?

"...demanding a better nominee"

In 2012 I tried and failed.

You haven't failed until you give up. There's still time to change this, but we're certain to have the quisling liberal Romney as our nominee, if everyone simply rolls over and accepts it.

I guarantee you, that if every true conservative drew a line in the sand and said, 'Not Another Step Further!', that there'd be fireworks in Tampa, and we'd emerge with a better nominee.

Can you name any conservative media pundit or elected Republican that is spearheading this mutiny?

The ones I listen to (Garrison, Rush, Steyn, Dana Loesh) don’t seem to be promoting it.

A monumental turnaround like you mention won’t happen without a high profile leader, IMHO.

You need a leader to tell you when to rebel against blatant left-liberalism in your own party?

"Every true conservative" is easily outnumbered by all the other demographics and political sub-sects that comprise the right hemisphere of politics. "Every true conservative" ain't enough to get it done. We would also have to convince all those folks who aren't "true conservatives" who are voting for Romney and donating gobs of cash to him.

Consider the more conservative candidates running against Romney in the primary. *NONE* of them got anywhere near "threatening close" to Romney. There were just too many moderates, rinos, centrists, blue-bloods, etc. lined up to vote just like they were told to vote -or- they actually preferred Romney. Not to mention Romney's gazillion "bucks of backing". Conservatives never had a chance.

Probably no one here will agree and they definitely won't like hearing it, but we need to grow our conservative-voting head-count by multiple orders of magnitude. We need more financial leverage to compete with "the elite/RINO" money bags as distasteful as that is. I don't see how anything changes in our favor until we get those done, and more. The best we can do for this particular election now is cross our fingers and push some mystery candidate like Hoefling who is virtually unknown outside of conservative circles.

We have *GOT* to find some way to do far, Far, FAR better next time than we did this primary season.

***This is not a mutiny. Folks like you seem to think that FR is a republican website. It is NOT. It is a conservative website.

Maybe you principle-compromising republicans should focus your efforts on the mushy middle rather than trying to separate conservatives from their principles.

***How’s that hopey-changey thing going?

(this is probably wishful thinking, I know)
***Thanks for being honest. Your efforts are better spent on pushing your hopey-changey/wishful thinking agenda on the mushy middle rather than trying to separate conservatives from their principles.

And for November, I have to play the cards I’m dealt.
***You play your cards, and principled conservatives will play theirs.

Your premise is valid, but there's another factor that I believe played a far greater role in the final outcome of the Republican primary, and it's that the right Reagan Republican never stepped forward to run.

All of the candidates who stood to the right of Romney had their plus points, but none of them had the total package of conservative idealism, smarts, courage, executive experience, charisma, outspokenness, and eloquence that would have (and could have) eliminated Mitt.

The stars were perfectly aligned for that person to step forward, but for whatever reason, she didn't. Had she done so, she would have walked to victory in the primary and the general without breaking a sweat. She would have also gone on to do the exact things in office that are needed to turn this country around.

Of this, I have no doubt.

***I think she chose the welfare of her family over her own political ambitions. Plus, she makes a lot more money now at Fox. However, by not running, she has entered into an irrelevance death spiral.

You guys don't remember that she had played it all perfectly and was building to an announcement although the media and the GOP was against her she was pulling off something that we had never seen, but then suddenly, Rick Perry stepped in and squashed her momentum just long enough to keep her out of 2012.

Perry mysteriously and ineffectively jumping in, neutered the Palin effort towards beating the bipartisan system that was united against her.
