ADJECTIVE
2.exceptionally clever or talented: "a brilliant young mathematician"
synonyms: bright - intelligent - clever - smart - astute - intellectual
Seems to me “bright and vivid” are easily translated as “brilliant.” Nothing can be brilliant without being bright and vivid.
I don't have any books on Patton, but I do know some things about him.
No, Trump did not say Putin said he was brilliant. He said it tongue in cheek.
“Russia’s got plenty of problems, but I’ll tell you what, if Putin likes me, and if he thinks I’m a good, smart person, which I hope he believes - actually he’s right, I am brilliant,’ GOP front-runner Donald J. Trump said at a rally on Saturday.
It has become a farce.
The mediots are throwing everything they have at Trump and it only makes him more popular.
And then... I/we are expected to believe that Hillary will beat Trump? If past performance is indicative, Hillary and her mediot sycophants will accuse Trump of some crime against PC, Trump will return fire by accusing Hillary of some real criminality and then double down and he will become more popular.
I don’t see the general election trajectory changing if Trump is the nominee. The only way it changes is if Trump is not in the picture and the mediots re-assume control of the “narrative”.
...”Trump and Putin are both alpha”...
Yes indeed! ...Largely, it’s testosterone.
Alpha males not only hold the power to influence others’ thinking, opinions, perceptions, and actions, but they seem to grasp and hold onto all of the best things for themselves: money, success, status, friends, and women.
I love Military history. Have quite a few on various commanders, including Rommel. Patton is my all time favorite and I’m fond of Napoleon too. I consider Rommel’s withdrawal from El Alamein to be one of the all time greatest military feats. Napoleon at Austerlitz is something to stir the senses as well. On the home front nobody ever speaks of Dan Morgan who was a military genius. He defeated the arrogant Tarleton at Cowpens, for me really the decisive battle of the Revolution. OOOOOPS......sorry, but sometimes I get a little wound up. I’m currently reading Patton’s Ghost Corps. It’s amazing how history repeats itself.
Putin’s quote on Trump...
“He’s a very flamboyant and very talented person, without any doubt. .... It’s not our job to judge his qualities, that’s a job for American voters, but he’s the absolute leader in the presidential race as we see it today.”..... ....adding that Russia would work with “whomever the American voters choose”.
Afterwards Putin added.....”He says he wants to move on to a new, more substantial relationship, a deeper relationship with Russia, how can we not welcome that? Of course we welcome that.”
I'm more interested on the ancient generals: Julius Caesar, Hannibal, etc. and people like William the bastard/Conqueror, etc., but each to her or his own, I say.
You’ve got it...you truly understand the dynamics of this political season!
I’m not as up on Caesar and Hannibal as I should be, but do appreciate Leonidas and know that Socrates was a soldier. I intend to study a bit about Genghis Khan and have an acquaintance with Attila due to his attempts to conquer portions of France. I find Alexander fascinating as well. As Shucks, guess I just like to learn about things that really happened. History is fascinating and I love it. Am attempting to write a book of my own....actually two. Thee first should be finished shortly.
“You’re also fluent in Swahili too ? WHY ?”
You never know when you might take a side trip to the east coast of Africa.
You probably are NOT fluent in Russian nor Swahili. If you did knows Russian, you would have replied something snide ( knowing you )about what I posted in Russian, for starters! LOL
I was always interested in Hannibal, but he was covered in third year Latin ( it was all Cicero, all the time and written in the damned subjunctive case. spit! ), so I got hooked on him too.
Then there's Attila, and being of Hungarian descent...LOL, what need I add about that? :-)
Alexander is also another ancient general I find fascinating.
LOL...I love reading factual history too, but have certain favorite eras...WW I, not WW II....Ancient, Medieval, the 100 Years War, Napoleonic, Victorian and Edwardian.
Good look with your book !
Russian is a fun language. I’m low-conversational level myself.
Dom arigato (that is “Thank you” in Japanese.) :o)
Boldog Karacson.
Do you know any Swahili, or Japanese? (Do not tell anyone I do not know Russian or Swahili or Japanese.) :o)
I know some Russian, some Spanish, and a tiny bit of English. :)
It was fun talking to you about languages. I actually do know some French.
